rock, paper, scissors bsp

{please visit Rock Scissor Paper here}

Once upon a time, in the city of angels, two ambassadors of sunshine were thumbing through their very favorite book, All Things Bright: A Compendium of Winsome Goods for Refined Ladies and Dapper Gentlemen. As expected, their beloved tome did not disappoint, for shortly after three very smart articles on the superiority of pachyderms, and right before a thrilling account on the history of stamped jewelry, they found the most intriguing entry. It read, simply, A Recipe for Happy: Rock, Scissor, Paper. (See, INTERNET)

The ambassadors looked at each other and nodded in agreement.  Of course!  Sisters Susie and Heidi Bauer (of the genes, not of the order) had long ago earned the title of Purveyors of Happy with their vintage leaning line of stationery, home accessories, and sundries for life and style.  Indeed, for sixteen years the Bauer sisters have charmed many with their original illustrations and unique, colorful style, including, but not limited to Real Simple, Home & Country, Metropolitan Home, EVERYDAY with Rachel Ray, People, In Style, House Beautiful, and ReadyMade.  Not ones to rest on their laurels, the Bauers are now working on a blog in honor of their sweet sixteen entitled, Make Something Happy: creating happiness in your life through creativity, crafting, cooking, exploring, and sharing.  I daresay, said the first ambassador to the second, they are responsible for a whole lot of happyYes, said the second ambassador, and soon they will deliver sunshine, too.

Rock, Scissor, Paper will deliver TWO Smile Flower Organic Cotton Tote Bag to TWO winners. In order to win, please answer the following question by Friday, August 28, 2009.

    My mother planed a small party at our house, so I invited 10 of my closest friends. Around 6 p.m. the rain began to fall. Soon, it looked like the world was going to end. The streets were filling up with water and the cars couldn’t move any further. Naturally, by 9 p.m. I was sitting alone at my birthday table, crying my heart out, thinking that was the worst day of my life. At 11 p.m., when I was already dressed to bed and my face was all red of all the crying, the doorbell rang. Five of my friend managed to overcome the chaotic rain scenario and came to my party! I ended up singing happy birthday in my pijamas with five wonderful people that are still my friends until now!

    16 is a big year in the Indian tradition. So, of course, it was a big event that belonged to my parents as well as me. My parents threw a party with not only my friends, but many of our family friends in the Indian community. Family from all over the country flew in which made it ultra-special. It was a little overwhleming, but very touching that so many people would come together to wish me well. The only unfortunate things I remember about the day are my awful hairstyle and choice of dress–it WAS the early 90’s :)

    i had only had my learner’s permit for a week and i was out practicing with my mom. we have an inclined driveway which ends at the garage. i said can i try pulling into the driveway, even though i always parked it on the street. she said yes. i got halfway up and realized i needed more gas. so i gassed it. a bit too much. i ran into the garage door, breaking that and damaging my dad’s car inside. my birthday was 2 days later. and it went by with NO fanfare. :(

    I had an old-school kid’s birthday party, where we played “pin the tail on the donkey,” musical chairs, and had a pinata. Why rush the growing up?

    I think I spent the day getting my license (typical) and driving around all day. I’m pretty sure I ditched the cake just to hang out with my friends all night. Oh the trouble we could get in once I had a car.

    Holly F. says:

    Not to be a downer, but my dad forgot it was my birthday and had me help him work at his farm. On the way home, the car died so I had to help push start it in a snow storm. When we finally got home, my mom said, “Did you remember it is Holly’s birthday?” He said, “Oh, happy birthday.”

    I’ve since gotten over it and it makes for an interesting story.
