Hello, Kitty. You knew we wouldn’t offer a month of Sugar, Sugar sweetness without the original doyenne of totally cute, didn’t you? Well, you were right. We couldn’t resist offering up celebrity favorite Public Library and their exclusive Hello Kitty tee. And, yes, it’s cute. But it’s also the teeniest bit hot, no?
Public Library is used to straddling the line between sweetly innocent and not so much. The California, vintage-inspired knitwear brand embodies the spirit of nature, the values of a humanitarian, and style of a modern-day bohemian. Case in point: Public Library recently partnered up with The Samburu Project to create a limited edition set of t-shirts, the proceeds of which will help raise awareness and funds for water drilling projects in Samburu, Africa. Doling out a little sugar has been fun for Miss B and I, but when we can do that and bring people clean water? Well, that’s very sweet, indeed.
Public Library is giving away FOUR Hello Kitty t-shirts to FOUR lucky winners. In order to win, please answer the following question by September 2, 2009.
Who is your favorite cartoon character, and why?
Please check the winner’s box on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Good Luck!

chilly willie the penguin , the cutest girl penguin ever! I sang that song every Saturday morning and still to this day at age 24, cannot get it out of my head.
She’s cute, strong, creative and fun. Wonderful qualities………
Kermit the Frog…if he counts…he was green before green was cool! A froggy ahead of his time, indeed!!
After watching various cartoons over the past several years with my children Sheen from Jimmy Neutron has got to be my ultimate favorite cartoon character. He’s quirky, hilarious and a great sidekick so how can you not love him. Keeps me laughing every time I watch the show!
I think it’ll have to be SpongeBob SquarePants. He’s incredibly funny. Cute. Yellow. The voice actors are so talented. The show is so smartly done.
Plus, the one thing that makes SpongeBob the best is the fact that it is targeted at both kids and … well, older kids. I’m 19, and I can proudly say I like SpongeBob!
Woo! Go SpongeBob, and that Hello Kitty t-shirt is SO awesome! I wants it! Pretty please with a cherry [or would you like a lemon slice?] on top?!
ponyo, because she is just so darn cute!
For me it would be the grey mouse from Biker Mice From Mars. Unfortunatly i don’t even remember his name anymore, but he reminds me so much of my childhood and for me really represents how carefree you really are as a child.
strawberry shortcake! cute, sweet and sassy!
Minnie Mouse. She had a definite presence in my childhood (and wardrobe – loved her bows!), and I still love her today because she’s so happy and sweet and such an icon. And the girl ALWAYS wore heels!
Babar. He just seems so quiet and sophisticated and adventurous. The perfect man? I mean elephant.
Daria. Cynical, apathetic, and smart. Perfect.
Cinderella! She is so beautiful!
Super Chicken. Can still sing every word of that theme song (“…just caaaaaaaaaaaaal for Super Chicken!”). They used to show it with George of the Jungle and Tom Slick.
The lion in the clouds in the care bears!
Betty Boop. She’s cute, funny, and sexy… wait a minute, I think I’m describing myself. lol
My favorite would have to be Popeye the Sailor Man. Strangely enough, Popeye and Olive remind me of my boyfriend and I. Such a fine fellow. I also credit him with starting my lifelong obsession with spinach.
Pucca! she knows what she wants and won’t let anyone get in her way! i love that she is endlessly in pursuit of laying kisses all over Garu, her one true love, while he tries desperately to avoid the inevitable. plus she’s a cute little asian who communicates via giggles and growls… i can totally relate!
Batman. He was my childish crush but I still think he’s so uber sexy especially in his tight costume. He is so handsome, so sophisticated, so mysterious. And his mind works wonders, I mean seriously, fighting off the criminals of Gotham City, usually with his awesome gadgets (the Batmobile!) and martial arts. I was always on the edge of my seat, watching him every Saturday mornings.
I like the smurfs
Arthur. He made me feel cool about wearing glasses. Much love from one nerd to another.
Tinkerbelle. She’s so dainty, I love her!
Wonder Woman because she’s a great female icon and Hello Kitty because she’s adorable. I met Hello Kitty as a kid.
Pucca! All of those characters are so cute! And she loves her Garu guy! I used to record all of the episodes and watch them for hours!
I used to love Rainbow Bright as a kid. She was just so fun and full of energy and we both had strawberry blonde hair! :)
Superman – because – well he is just so super !! and also its my initials (SS)
Lucy from The Peanuts. She is a pain in the butt, but so spunky. My first wristwatch had her on it.
My favorite cartoon character is still strawberry shortcake…makes me crave fresh berries and cream….still remember that crazy smell the doll had…how did they make her smell for years after you took her out of the package….and her super sweet sing song voice…..awwwwww….those were the days.
I would have to say that my favorite characters are all of characters in My little pony’s. I loved that cartoon and movies and toys. They bring me very fond memories.
brian from family guy. i love how he speaks, walks on 2 legs, but then sometimes randomly acts like a dog.
I always wanted to be Miss Piggy (counts right?). She was and still is el-primo diva! That was me as a kid, for sure!
My favorite has got to be Marvin the Martian for his ability to influence young minds. I remember feeling so cool when I bought (and yes wore) a black tshirt with a huge Marvin the Martian on it along with giant matching martian earrings. This was middle school. I also remember a boy in our class having that same space man tatooed on his ankle. Did I already say this was middle school? For making me feel so cool, I will always hold a special place in my heart for Marvin.
My favorite I think will always be Chansey, the little nurse Pokemon. When I was 5 I found a tiny action figure Chansey in the school playground (despite the fact that Pokemon toys were banned at our school, apparently the series was too ‘violent’) From that day on, we never separated and I hid her in the lining of my blue school polar fleece where the stitching had come loose. I had many a lovely lunchtime building homes for her in the sandbox and making her hats out of dandelions and still have her on my bedside table to this day.
i love tinkerbelle! she is very cute and sparkly yet has a definite attitude and is loyal. she gets to fly around, and throw fairy dust. what little (ok, big) girl wouldnt want to be her?!
donald duck – he always gets overlooked by Mickey, but he’s always been my favorite.
Lillabit from the Littl’ Bits. Mostly in terms of the fun and adventures she and her friends had and how cheerful and kind she would be. I’d hope that I would be as hopeful and happy even when my parents leave us.
stitch from lilo & stitch. even though he is created to destroy
everything he comes across, he still manages to find a family
and come to terms with his beginnings. also, he is ugly, but
very adorable.
Totoro! He’s huge and squishy and I think soft. I want one!
The witch in Spirited Away! She’s scary and funny and crazy, and everything a villain should be! I also like a lot Hades in Hercules… What can I say, i like villains!
I love Mr. Magoo! At first, he appears a little unlucky in the situations that he gets into, but no matter what kind of trouble is in front of him, he always finds a happy-go-lucky way to safety! Maybe ignorance is bliss with Mr. Magoo. Well, ok, he can’t see very well, but he never seems to let that stop him, nothing is an obstacle, he just keeps moving forward! It’s a good way to “look” at life, whatever troubles are ahead of you, keep moving forward, you’ll get through it! And he’s so cute!
Actually, Hello Kitty is my favourite! The first thing I ever bought with my own money (aka my allowance from dusting, etc around the house) was a baseball-sized pink rubber bouncy ball with her face on it, and it was all downhill obsession-wise from there. I used to have Hello Kitty sticker and colouring books, Hello Kitty plush toys, a Hello Kitty lunchbox…I still have a pair of Hello Kitty socks that I got for Christmas a couple years ago during Secret Santa. My first semester of college, I used a Hello Kitty notebook for one of my classes! There used to be a Sanrio store in a mall by my house and I would love going there as a kid. I’m not sure what it is about her that I love so much–the optimism and love that she perpetually emits and her constant cuteness are definitely up there : )
My favorite cartoon character is Scooby Doo. He is a scaredy dog who saves the day, what’s not to love? :)
My fave cartoon charactor is witchy-poo (the one in the bugs bunny cartoons)! the way her hair pins just spin in the air when she takes off cracks me up every time! Oh! and the monster who gets his hair done by bugs is a favorite as well! The classics like that are so great!
Hi. I won this giveaway, but my email to claim the prize won’t go through. I’m so excited about the shirt. Thanks!!
