Why, no Miss B., this isn’t the post we had scheduled for today. It’s a birthday post for you!
And you, dear readers, have been invited to the Surprise Party!
Today is our Miss B.’s birthday. The creative genius who came up with the idea for The Bright Side Project turned another year older {on paper} at the stroke of midnight. And, no, she hasn’t aged a day since the 80s—she’s this century’s Dorian Gray, minus the narcissism and lost soul. But, try as we might, her friends and I can’t begrudge Miss B. her dewy skin and willowy frame (most of the time) so a few of us got together and planned this little soirée.
First up is Melissa from Operation Nice. It only figures that someone who gives away free goodies would be pals with something who has a website devoted to the kindness.
Next is our very talented web designer, Brooke. Brooke won’t admit it, but I bet that she is hoping one of Miss B.’s birthday wishes is that we enroll in Magic Toaster classes.
Nicole of Pink Loves Brown and Making it Lovely stopped by and dropped off one of her illustrations, done especially for you, Miss B. Note that Nicole gave her birthday girl turned in feet—no doubt to make her calves appear slimmer. :)
Of course Cathe of Feterie created for you an Official Seal of Birthday Wishes. She knows how much you love seals and certificates, and if anyone deserves an award, it would be you.
Well, well, well. If it isn’t one of you real life besties. How about that? Miss Nina is primed and waiting to celebrate your birthday with several cold libations.
Oh yes, I did. The one and only Sharon Montrose isn’t exactly one of Miss B.’s close friends. She is more someone whose career Miss B., erm, follows intently. Miss B. doesn’t stalk Sharon Montrose per se (that’s illegal!) but she may or may not know where her studio is and may or may not have a picture of her next to her night stand. Maybe. Hypothetically.
So, that leaves me.
Miss B., thank you for replying so sweetly to my unsolicited email three years ago when you could have just told this frustrated attorney to pound sand and give up her dreams of writing. Instead, you became a true friend and my biggest cheerleader. You are funny and generous, and just a little bit crazy—which you would have to be to get along with me. May all your birthday wishes come true!
Okay, internet. You’re up! Please help us wish Miss B. a happy birthday!

Happy belated birthday! Thank you for this wonderful site. Even though I’ve never won a prize from it, it’s a nice opportunity to A) be introduced to some beautiful products, and I’ve gotten a few new Etsy stores to favorite for the next time I’m in need of a gift or pick-me-up, but more importantly B) to reflect on my life in a positive way, or to challenge me to be creative with my dreams. I rarely have time to read the other comments, other than maybe the first ten before my own, but I like that this is a constant source of sunshine. I love the thought-provoking questions and the chance to express myself. Thank you for starting this!
