HEART OF LIGHT
{please visit heart of light here}
I think everyone had that friend in high school. The girl who wore the most fashionable dress to the Homecoming dance. She whose hair was always adorned with the most trendy of accessories. Lucky for you she was your buddy, so you could count her expert fashion advice and tips on looking “cool.” But this friend wasn’t above a few fashion regrets that you’ve since looked back on and laughed. Rachel Sauvageot of Heart of Light remembers the days she used to fashion hair clips for her teenage friends complete with feathers and painted on glittered nail polish. It was back in high school that she fell in love with crafting one of a kind pieces to pretty up any outfit.
With her school days behind her, fashionable Sauageot has ditched the glitter and feathers for a more refined style with a vintage aesthetic. Now she continues to create accessories that can take an outfit from so-so to so fun! Today her mediums include beautiful fabrics, lush ribbons and vintage notions. Quite the step up! While browsing her shop you’ll fawn over the romantic detailing on headbands, delicate beading on belts and sweet ruffles on hair pins. Lovely corsages would make a great hostess gift this holiday season and betrothed can adorn their bridal parties at a discount. Perhaps most importantly though, you now know where to find a gift for your fashionable pal from high school!

Whenever I wear a flouncy skirt with my hair down in its natural curls, it makes me feel so pretty and feminine. And fun because it reminds me of summertime, which gives me the confidence to feel beautiful in my own skin!
A beautiful summery dress, and a nice part of dangly earrings.
Shopping with my favourite girls makes me feel fun and feminine
Freshly washed sheets, tea, a book, and time to relax.
I love wearing skirts and heels. I hardly ever do, but I feel so flirty, girly, and cute when I do. Especially if it’s a flowy or flouncy skirt.
Planning my wedding and going wedding-dress shopping! Looking for the perfect dress and trying on gorgeous lace dresses is the perfect combination of fun and feminine. Fun because I get to experiment with different styles with a smalll audience of friends who cheer whenever I come out of the dressing-room, and feminine because I feel beautiful and SO excited to marry the man I love and who makes me happy.
Painting my toenails. I dress pretty conservatively all the time, but when I paint my toenails, I go crazy with bright colors, glitter, etc. So underneath all the muted colors, heavy socks, and boring shoes lies a fun little secret just for me. :-)
Floaty dresses and brunch with my girlfriends – I don’t get a lot of time with them, and it’s always lovely to relax and feel like a girl again!
Girly embellishments like ruffles, lace and flowers.
Wearing Chanel No. 5 makes me feel feminine. Everytime I wear it I feel like Marilyn Monroe.
I love wearing matching bra and underwear sets. It’s super fun knowing that you look good underneath your clothes too, even if no one else does!
Making fancy food and eating off the china, for no reason at all!
Big blingy cocktail jewelry!!!
I love wearing sheer black patterned tights with high heels! The patterns are fun and the heels are feminine! This get-up works exceptionally well on the days where I have had to rush in the morning and not had the chance to shave my legs; that’s always a downer on the feminine factor!
My boyfriend always makes me feel fun and feminine, even on those days when I don’t think it’s possible!
Walking into the engineering building, knowing I’m going to be asked questions about homework and sitting in the corner chair on the top floor looking across campus through the glass walls feeling like a queen over my domain.
Definitely getting a pedicure – total pampering!
a spritz of perfume, which I rarely wear.
Getting dressed up to go on a date.
A good pair of animal print shoes. You can’t go wrong.
Red lipstick and eyelashes for days.
Taking the time to put my outfit together head to toe, and spending the time to really look at my outfit and say “I look GREAT today!”
I recently (like in the last couple weeks) started curling my eyelashes and wearing mascara (I am 27 and not much of a makeup wearer at all… mostly clear mascara up until now), but with those curled and browned up lashes, every morning I do a little happy dance at how pretty my eyes look!!
I love going to the Salon and have my hair washed and styled by a professional. I guess my hair makes me feel feminine and beautiful. There is something about a women’s hair that makes us look unique and misterious…all at the same time. I love when my fiance sits very close to me and smells my hair. It is such a blissful feeling.
hair down and curled, hubby at my side, and my favorite pair of jeans.
Old lace, sheer fabrics and flowers. Oh yeah…dangly earrings! Soft and feminine.
Red lipstick!
Getting out of my dirty coveralls, washing the sawdust out of my hair, and putting on a pretty, vintage dress. Hasn’t happened in a while…I think I’ll do it today!
Realizing that, after being covered in mud all day, I can shower and dress up as I like.
Heels :) I feel gorgeous, taller (hehe) and sexy!
I love a good set of underwear, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune, just have a bit of lace and maybe a splash of colour.
Anything with ruffles!
Flowery anything! This summer I went through a major flower phase, and I ended up with three pairs of shoes that have flowers on them, a few shirts, two dresses, and a headband that are all adorned with flowers. So pretty, and definitely feminine!
It happens to me every time I run out of war paint and have to use my wife’s makeup instead.

Hmm, I’d have to say shaved legs and lipgloss usually do the trick!
I work from home and often wear my pajamas for far too many hours on end. Sad but true!
Having a lovely pedicure — I have it done so infrequently that when I have have a pedicure it makes me feel very feminine with my newly smooth heels and fun with a bright color on my toes! I never want to put shoes on so I can show them off!
Bows. They make me feel so cute and flirty. I love them in my hair, on my shoes, on my clothes…even around my room as cute little accents for the handles of my drawers. I think their adorable and utterly feminine.
A classic pair of pearl stud earrings … love them!
When a man goes out of his way to open a door for me… and anything with polka dots, ribbon flowers, or lace trim.
