OH SO GOOD
{please visit Oh So Good here}
Let’s call a spade a spade: a stylish environmentally conscious item is a sold environmentally conscious item. Designers like Sarah Roberto of Oh So Good have raised the bar for products with a gentle impact, and no longer need we settle for eco-friendly products that don’t simultaneously meet our fashionable sensibilities. We want that gentle impact to pack a stylish punch, and Roberto delivers with a collection of stationery featuring repurposed paper, books, and materials.
Sarah lives and breathes design. The art director and freelance graphic designer uses her etsy shop as an opportunity to work with her greatest sources of inspiration. International design, textile patterns, and the wild, addictive world of vintage shopping keeps her creative juices flowing, allowing her to juggle five or more ideas in her head at once. When the ideas make it to paper, they are an almost guaranteed hit. Sarah’s Faux Bois Notebook made it to the front page of etsy, and Oh So Good, the collection, has been featured on heavy hitters like Design Sponge and Decor8, suggesting what you already knew–we wouldn’t feature Oh So Good if it wasn’t better than great.

It’s got to be college ruled, with a couple of pockets, and lovely design.
i look for a touch of authenticity in regards to personal style. it doesnt have to screem “Me!!”, but its nice to have something that reflects who you are.
I usually like when the notebook has a striking cover design and has lined pages inside. Being able to write with a fountain pen on the paper is a definite bonus, too!
I look for something that I feel is timeless – I want to be able to look back on my used notebooks in twenty years and still enjoy the design. Also, it’s absolutely imperative that it have lines, because otherwise my handwriting will slide right down off the page. So classic, lined, and of course cute.
Lots of college ruled paper and a fun and unique design! Who wants just a plain and functional notebook when your filling it with the details of your life and the dreams that you are dreaming!
Compactness. I do my best writing on the fly most of the time as ideas come to me so I have to be able to carry it in my purse. I also love paper and the textures and color of paper. So something super unique and inspiring on its own due to its personality and flair.
Since I am left handed, I like to use notebooks that flip open from the top versus the traditional, book bound notebook. I have recently become a fan of flip top notebooks with graph paper on one side, and college ruled lines on the other side. Great for making lists, keeping a budget, making charts, or creating design ideas (having just moved and passionate for interior design). The only pad I can find with this paper is the old, ugly office legal pad at the office store. It would be nice to keep my ideas in something more unique!
I looove notebooks with graphed paper! The left-brained part of me wants to be structured and orderly, and the right-brained part of me wants to doodle all over the paper, and fortunatly graph paper allows me to do both and still look good!
Portability and lines. I have poor handwriting, at least according to my Mom. So, I need the lines to keep me from writing off the page. Also, I like to keep EVERYTHING in my bag. Whenever I go on a trip, even if I have my electronic gadgets with me, I like to jot all my notes down in a notebook. It is my guide and also my journal.
Good thick paper (and lots of it) with a fabulous cover that makes me smile everytime I see it.
I like my notebooks to be a bit smaller than standard letter-sized paper, lined, with a fun or interesting cover, and the ideal notebook will have an elastic band that holds the book closed and a pocket. These last two are negotiable because they are hard to find, but every once in a while I find one that’s just perfect and buy as many as I can!
My favorites are the unexpected ones.
The ones that make you laugh and think, what an awesome idea for a notebook! Like the one in the picture..it totally made me do that, so I know its a winner.
Durability. The pages won’t fall out with too much use.
Tactile. All side feel good, making you want to caress the cover, open it and fill it with words.
Simple. Nothing fancy or “precious” to get in the way of the purpose.
Recycled. Re-purposed papers from other books, covers made from unusual found objects, things that make you take another look.
Durable, with quality paper that takes ink on both sides. Easy to open and write at any page. Compact. With either a nice design on the hard cover or just plain cover that I can easily remake into whatever I wish.
I like a smaller notebook, as I’m always making little lists for myself (today I’m working off my Three Day Plan, to get everything ready for our Christmas trip to visit relatives), but one with a very sturdy cover, so it doesn’t get damaged when knocked about in my large bag. The sturdy cover also acts as an interim writing surface if I’m standing on line to get the H1N1 vaccine and need to finish picking songs for this year’s Christmas mix. It doesn’t need to be spiral-bound, but I like a notebook that can lay flat or bent backwards easily. Spiral bound notebooks are easier to clip a pen to, so I always have a set, but I’d accept another solution to flat writing and pen proximity. I tend towards lined paper and a stylish cover, as well.
A beautiful cover: illustration, design, colors attract my eyes in general. So the way it looks is important. I need lines otherwise I can’t write straight! So lines are super important too!
I have a bit of an obsession with notebooks. I use them for notes, to do lists, to track things that I’ve done (such as the books I’ve read), to help me plan (right now I have one to help me plan my brother’s honeymoon), to keep secrets(I’ve been writing journals now for almost 15 years), and to remember (I keep one by my bed for dreams). All of my journals give a way a bit of my personality, OK, some do more than others. But all of them make my face light up when I have an excuse to write in them. The perfect notebook is that one that makes me think of yet another thing I need to write down and track!
P.S. Looking over all of the journals I’ve selected over the years is so much fun. They very much reflect who I was when I was writing in it.
It needs to be sturdy enough to take some abuse, but soft enough for me to want to handle it. It needs to have ruled or graph paper because I like things nice and neat:) The paper has to be thick enough to take a drawing pen, but not so thick that it’s super stiff. It has to have a pocket for little whatnots and it needs to have enough give in the spine that it will flop open without me having to hold it. If it has a little band or tie to keep it closed, that’s nice too. Wow, am I really that picky?!? Yup:)
I love a notebook that, from the moment I first see it, tells me exactly what it is for. Since I mostly use notebooks for journaling, unlined, nice paper stock, a rugged cover with a nice feel and an unassuming design are what I am looking for. A great book compels me to write and draw on days I would otherwise let my thoughts pass by.
A beautiful cover, first of all. And a notebook that i can draw in, write in, or make to-do lists in. Maybe a notebook that combines all three things is out there somewhere!
My perfect notebook has got to have some (if not all) gridded paper. I tend to write sideways, upside down, diagonally, etc. I love something that I can carry around with me everywhere and it has to either have a cover I can customize or a cover that I adore.
crisp clean and sexy
I look for the same features I look for in writing: captivating, a little quirky, and not too fancy.
durability and back-pocket worthy.
blank paper and simple. most of my notebooks end up being a mix of lists, drawings, collages and writing. i like also paper that smells fresh and strong.
Spiral bound. I hate when the spine is too stiff and i can’t write on a large amount of the paper. It drives me bonkers.
The perfect notebook has to be stylish and it has to fit in my purse!
I like smaller notebooks with thick, textured, blank paper. And a plain cover. And cool binding.
I like a notebook with a sturdy cover and thick, non-lined paper.
A cool cover, and easy to lay flat on the table for writing or drawing. Also the paper has to feel nice!
I like notebooks that have a pretty cover and has lined paper. Some pockets on the inside would be nice too.
I have to really want to write in it! So, my ideal notebook is:
Beautiful but not so beautiful that I’m scared to mess it up!
Pretty graphic or texture on the cover, but simple/clean design.
Good quality paper that a pen glides over smoothly.
I like to doodle, I prefer unlined paper or paper with one side lined.
I love the wood-grain journals, tags, and folders! Thanks for the great question, too!
I would love one that smelled like a library of old books. And had thick, natural edged paper, perhaps a Reeves BFK. Thick slab covers of wood and a visible woven binding that would lay open easily so I could draw in it.
Plain and durable covers, dividers, and neat tearable lined pages.
Lovely qualitly paper and a beautiful cover to look at.
A lovely and pretty cover, lots and lots of large pages of thick good quality paper. Hopefully, with a compartment to slip in pages of inspiration and a place to slot writing instruments. It would be nice if the pages had some sort of variation.
pretty design & lined
