Oldest child, youngest child, middle child or only child, there’s always some personality trait that stems from your sibling (or lack thereof) status. Rachel Chew Blakely is convinced that being an only child has something to do with her constant need for a creative outlet. I’m sure there are plenty of fashionistas out there donning her pretty jewelry who’d be happy to praise her parents’ decision.

As a child Rachel’s first creative project was a magazine full of riddles, interviews (with her parents) and short stories that she sold to friends and family. Since then she’s always known she wanted to open a shop to share her creations and over the years her creative endeavors have included plushies, paper goods and jewelry. In 2007 after graduating college she took a day job as a designer and founded Elephantine. She dedicates most of her evenings now designing and making beautiful jewelry to fill up Elephantine’s virtual shelves. Inspired by stories of adventure, ridiculous dreams and even her home in the pacific northwest Rachel creates beautiful jewelry that any oldest, youngest, middle or only child would be happy to wear.

Miss Lindsey, our Honorary Ambassador of Sunshine and Weekend Editor, seeks gratitude every day and believes life is a celebration. She blogs about creative, inspiring and beautiful finds at her blog, GreatFull Day.

I hope to never forget that it’s all just for fun, really. Everything, from the sun to garbage bags, are there to make our lives better. So, why do we stress?

The image of my lil sis, (now 16) in her tiny little footy pajamas, she wore them until her toes curled up they were so tight she knew I loved them, at that point when her little legs were just to long, my mom cut the feet off so she could still wear em.

I hope I never forget the joy, awe, and love I felt when each of my wonderful daughters were born and I held them in my arms for the first time. I also hope I never forget that same feeling when I held each of my 11 grandchildren for the first time. Words cannot do it justice!.

My Bubbie. She was an amazing lady. Loving, smart, kind, a wonderful cook…she always had the best toys and never called me out on cheating at Candyland.

i hope i never forget the exciting rush of falling in love–how every moment was a little thrill. i’ve been in a relationship for several years now, and we have grown into a place of comfort and happy coexistence–a boon for sure, and not a thing to be taken too lightly. but i never want to lose the sense of giddiness at seeing my love enter the room!

    Ashley G. says:

I hope I never forget the goodness in life, no matter how hard it gets. I don’t want to forget how it felt to be a kid–even though life wasn’t always easy after my parents divorced and money was really very tight, I still have so many good memories. I want to remember the good without letting the bad stain it. I think I’ve done an ok job so far.
