If you are an avid reader you probably have your favorite authors but not necessarily a favorite publishing house. Well, I love books and I love nearly anything from Chronicle Books.  Viewing their newest catalogs inevitably fills my wish list each and every time. It is easy for me to deem them my favorite publisher and rightly so. Founded in 1967, they have continuously produced award winning books and merchandise covering trends in cookbooks, fine art, children’s books and popular culture.

Chronicle Books of course has plenty of finds befitting our February theme. Their Colors Mini Journal Set contains four petite journals perfect for jotting down notes. The portable size makes them great for on the go moms or business women. In a variety of hues, the interior of these journals feature coordinating colors and lines making them a stylish option for scribbling.

Another colorful find is John Rombola: Eclectic Eccentric. As an illustrator, Rombola has produced works for Life, Town + Country and Holiday. Rombola’s art is on permanent collection in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Eclectic Eccentric is the first ever compilation of his work which is spirited and and rambunctious. Lush gouche and ink drawings document his travels to New York and Europe in a spirited and often humorous way. Lively, whimsical and of course colorful this book is a feast for the eyes. I’d expect nothing less from Chronicle Books!

One lucky winner will receive a copy of John Rombola: Eclectic Eccentric and a Colors Mini Journal Set. To enter to win please answer the following question by February 16, 2010.
The worldwide authority on color, Pantone, has declared turquoise THE color of 2010. What is your color of the year?
Please begin checking the winners box on February 24, 2010 to see if you’ve won.  Good luck!

    Alex says:

My color of the year is pink.

For the first time ever, I bought a shirt that was not black, blue, or red. It was a rosy pink.

I was inspired by the kids’ clothing when I started working at a daycare, and I decided around the same time to embrace my body, weight gain and all.

And pink is how I did it.

    Amy says:

Plum! Because it compliments all of my other favorites-emerald, goldenrod, navy blue, white etc…

  3. 153
    Jill says:

the color of the years has been brown. everyone’s said it-
my waffle is kinda crispy. my fire is getting charred. that owl just hung out in my tangerine tree. built a dirt angel. ate a brownie.
I mean, that’s a lot of people experiencing brown, definitely the color of the year.

  4. 154
    La Woodstock says:

The color of the last year is black: 2009 was a very bad year for me!
I would like 2010 to be BLUE like the sea that I like so much, WHITE like the snow that is now falling on my roof, RED like the love of my husband, PINK like the baby girl in my belly, GREEN like the eyes of my cat, GREY like my grandmother’s eyes that I miss so much…

    Erica says:

Color of the year? I can’t do a color of the year. How about a color of the season or month? Write now my color is navy blue. A classic navy for nautical style clothes that are typically revealed right before spring in the stores where I live. I love that shade of navy with crisp white, true red, and soft yellows. Somehow it’s breezy to me, like the ocean, yet clean and neat. Ask me again in a month, and I’ll choose a completely different color. :-)

  6. 156
    Jessica says:

My color of the year is a dark foresty green. Channel a peaceful forest.

  7. 157
    Emma N says:

My color of the year is gray. It seems to be popping up everywhere in my house…on the walls, in the decor. Gray is great! it pairs well with bright greens and oranges, or with creamy whites and blues….and my cat is gray.

    Lisa says:

I must be ahead, last year was my year for turquoise (I painted my bedroom that color.) This year? A combo of soft yellow and pale green.

For me, it’s kelly green! It’s a color that makes me feel happy!

  12. 162
    Ashley says:

    Cerulean!

If they say purple signifies creativity – it comes from blue and red. I’m already a fiery passionate person, now I just need the balance of BLUE to reach my pinnacle. My sunny personality is craving to become more well-rounded and versed, and I feel like having a Cerulean Blue year I will achieve just that !

  13. 163
    Tina says:

I seem to be choosing more blues this year. Especially colbot/sapphire blue, royal blue…the rich darker blues.

  14. 164
    AmyJo says:

Orange. Orange I love … no, I adore, orange! The color alone is fabulous; the fact that it stands for joy, creativity, determination, encouragement and success is an added perk!

  15. 165
    Joleen Knits says:

White. When white light goes through a prism, it contains all other colors, just like life.

  16. 166
    Bailey S. says:

Lavender! I’ve gotten a few new clothes and painted a wall in that color…it’s just happy!

  19. 169
    becky says:

I have to go with Miss Krista’s instinct in her Pretty Smitten post — moss green.
Although I might go with more of a kelly green. But definitely a beautiful, spring-time inspired green.

  20. 170
    tanzi says:

Black, but black is my color of the year every year. Now, I know that sounds boring, but with black as MY color o the year, I can take whatever is THE color of the year and mix it in with what I already have. It’s a great system.

  21. 171
    johanna says:

Bright red! Poppy red! In bits and dashes everywhere.

    Emma S says:

My color of the year is sea-foam blue. You know that crayon color that only came in the huge, 64-piece boxes of crayons? It was always my favorite, because it made the prettiest flowers, the most romantic princess dresses, and such lovely oceans for my brown boats to sail on. Now, years later, it’s back! Everywhere I go (alright, mostly just at Anthropologie) I see beautiful clothes in this color, and my closet is starting to get kind of sea-foamy. I love wearing it, and I just love seeing it everywhere, because it’s like a little slice of sky fell down and was made into a hair ribbon or a dress. Sea-foam blue – that’s my color of the year.

  29. 179
    Eliza says:

My color of the year is grey. I was a huge purple gal for many years–then purple became uber trendy, it featured prominently in my wedding, and I started receiving scads of purple gifts. I am purpled out. So I am digging purple’s understated cousin: a rich, gorgeous, grey that goes with everything.

  30. 180
    Jessica Zee says:

Just one? I’m not sure I can choose just one color for the whole year. But, lately I’ve been really loving emerald green–it’s a little mysterious and dramatic but still earthy and warm and welcoming.

  31. 181
    K.Morrow says:

A shiny, satiny deep purple…such a pretty shade!

  32. 182
    Michelle R says:

No way! Turquoise is my favorite color. I feel so vindicated for wearing it entirely too much…I’m just supporting the color of the year :-)

  33. 183
    Ashley B. says:

Purple is my color. We’re moving into a house in a few weeks which means DECORATING and hubby has given me the okay to use purple in our master bedroom. I also get to wear a gorgeous shade of purple as a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding this summer. Plus purple just makes me feel happy.

  34. 184
    Whitney says:

I find myself meandering between blues and greens this year, so I think I’d be more on the teal side than the turquoise.

  35. 185
    Christina says:

My color of the year is yellow (I know, this was Pantone’s color LAST year!).  I still believe that yellow represents optimism and hope.  I ran my first marathon last year for Team LIVESTRONG, with their signature yellow jersey.  Yellow continues to remind me to fight for health, wellness, and happiness for myself and others.

  36. 186
    Fallon says:

My color of the year… wow thats a hard one! My first love is and always will be all shades of purple, but I will have to say I have really been into a light sea form mint green sorta color. I think its fresh, light, and perfect for Spring!

  37. 187
    Jamie says:

I’m going with purple! I just stained my dresser purple and now i’m in love with the color.

  38. 188

    Red… always red.
