MODERN CHIC HOME

Nothing makes me happier when I am scouting for the BSP then to A) find a gem that perhaps you haven’t heard of yet, B) finding a contributor that totally ‘gets’ the project and bonus C) is a kindred spirit. Interior Designer, Julie Thigpen the founder of Modern Chic Home was all of the above and more. She’s gets an extra gold star for being generous + having great taste (she happens to carry a well edited selection of the new Trina Turk home collection—insert squeal here).
Thigpen was working as a project manager for a design firm in 2008 when they closed their doors forcing her to make some big decisions. Despite the dreary economy she took a huge leap of faith,(with the moral support of her husband , friends and family) and started her own residential design business. After finding success with that endeavor she decided to finally follow her heart and start her dream business—Modern Chic Home; which is Thigpen’s destination for ‘fabulous finds and fresh designs.’ MCH is a well thought out company offering a unique shopping experience by combining her design experience with her love for fun, chic, mod items. If you are having trouble deciding you can go to her ‘Shop the Look’ section and peruse her inspiration boards (*warning*-everything looks dangerously good). Still stuck? Thigpen offers a variety of design services in all budgets and an on line version for those not in the immediate vicinity.
“Even though most people would frown at the idea of launching a new business in the middle of a down economy, I refused to give into the gloom and uncertainty of it all and charged forward with optimism and hope! I’m so glad I did!”
Sigh, I love a success story, especially when it involves turning lemons into lemonade…

Hola! muchas gracias por la oportunidad, no se si mi comentario contará, pero le voy a dar el toque latino al artículo!
mis colores son los intensos, como mi personalidad. Un violeta o turquesa me representa a la perfección!
saludos.
There are so many things on Modern Chic home that are fabulous, so its hard to just pick a couple things; however, I especially love the pillows from KOKO….. I guess I’ll just answer the first question. I think blue describes me, because its happy and laid back, but can be energetic too.
I think I’d be blue. Sometimes I stand out and pop and sometimes I like to blend in and be a bit moody. :)
I would say purple would best describe my personality. It’s fun and strong but can also be classic and serious and it’s a bit whimsical too, the color of dreams! ha
If I were to win the $50 gift card I would definitely get the set of 6 cupcake pedestals!!! I love baking cupcakes but the presentation is never as nice as I’d like it so the idea of a personal litte (cup)cake stand/pedestal at each place setting is wonderful! Since I’d have some cash left over I’d probably get the Keep Calm and Carry On guest towel because I love that old ad campaign so much!
I love the cupcake pedestals are fabulous! We have a large family and large parties…these would be fantastic!!
i like black, it’s quiet and keeps to itself
I would be the color Summer Sky blue… I am warm, tender and for the most part, calm. My love and patients run infinitely as does the sky around the world. I am reflected in most things that I can touch or see and I usually create happiness wherever I am. I can alter my hue/color, however, when angry or ill tempered as does the sky during stormy weather. If I were to choose a color that would best describe my personality, Summer Sky Blue would be that color! :)
ocean blue – because it’s not just one color. It can be bright, almost aqua, fun and vibrant. Some days it’s dark and stormy blue, like when I’m feeling frustrated with the turn of events. Sometimes calm and relaxed, sometimes not so much.
LOVE the City Hook Pillow- New York… we are decorating our family room with a subtle NYC theme and it would fit in perfectly!
I think the color pink would be my personality color. I am girly, can be shy (light pink), bold (fushia/magenta) and mix well with others…(green, orange, red, white, black. Pink is a perfect color! I would choose the cupcake stands. so darling, and the presentation ideas are spinning in my head.
I just love everything at Modern Chic Home, I am always going to Belle Maison for inspiration. My favorite pattern is Damask, and I almost want to say that its also Julie Thigpen? She does such a great job! If I won the gift card for $50 I would order the Chamberet Mirror, and the Baby Owl Poly-Resin Figurine they would both go great in my guest bedroom.
such a great website of unusual and nice pieces! i would love the mini figurine pitchers like the little elephant. i would also like one of the cute florally print aprons.
Wow! I am in LOVE with everything on your site! If I won, the Chamberet Mirror and the Vintage Bird prints would be a must!
I love color, but I think I would say that the color that best describes me is gold. Gold is a classic and brings a little bit of bling…I would like to think that describes me and my personality!
i feel i am the color brown. it’s a good basis color and goes well with anything. it’s not too bright or too light and it doesn’t stand out. i am a quiet and shy person by nature, so i feel brown suits me well because i tend to blend in.
Loooove that rug! I’m an intense blue, on the indigo end of the scale. Bright and cheerful but not glaring, and somehow still restful.
I wear a lot of green (the yellower green, rather than the bluer), but I think my personality would have to be a purple hue. A wonderful red purple with a bit of white in it. At full chroma, of course! To describe it, I would say darker than “orchid”, maybe the color of the spots on a Rubrum lily. A little bit flashy, likes to be noticed, regal and a bit fun!
Being that BLUE makes me happy, I’ll pick that as the color that represents me. (Last year it was GREEN, and the year before that it was YELLOW!)
Without a doubt – the Chamberet Mirror at Modern Chic Home is where my $50.00 would go. LOVELY!
Orange would best describe me! A little bit of that red determination and passion as well as a bit of yellow fun!
