PRETTY SMITTEN
{please visit pretty smitten here}
I understand turquoise is THE color for 2010. I don’t know about you, but turquoise (although beautiful and always in my heart) was my color last year. This year is beginning to show herself as moss green. Elizabeth Johnson feels my pain. Johnson is the face behind Pretty Smitten, a company that specializes in personalized stationary, party papers and gift items. Don’t be fooled by knock-offs, either. Pretty Smitten’s signature mini Swarovski crystals adorn their paper products, separating them from the crowd. Gorgeous prints and graphics, a vast array of colors AND sparkle? Yes, please.
I am currently in the process of teaching my two year old daughter the art of a good “Thank You” card. What is more perfect than personalized Kid’s Note Cards, with her choice of design and color? Absolutely nothing is more perfect than that. Johnson has raised the bar as far as I’m concerned. She has married form and function in a way that makes me, well, yes, it makes me smitten. I’m also thinking of buying myself a You Are My Sunshine poster in, you guessed it, moss green. Le sigh.

Miss Krista is a mother, a lover and a big believer in the power of a cupcake. she loves double entendres but is not a fan of the high-five. she blogs about the corners of her heart at my life as i see it.

I would write it to my mom because she would really appreciate it and squeal with excitment over how cute they are too! That is what we do together, we squeal.
My 7 year old niece because I like to send her little notes when she is doing really well in school. She LOVES them! Checking the mail is now her favorite thing.
A sweet friend of mine who is 97! She is such a special lady and is like a grandmother to me!
I want to write to my parents for being incredibly supportive over the last
year because I was going through a really tough time and without them,
I’m not sure if I could make it.
That’s a tough question because I would probably write a few letters in one sitting! I’m living overseas right now, so letter writing is a common thing between my family & me! I think first, though, I would most likely write to my Grandma who is 90 years old & just as spunky as ever :)
It will be to my dear friend Kendalee who lives a continent away and who has undertaken a journey of change in her life – the occasion will be to wish her good luck!
I will write my friend to thank her for turning me on to this site, haha!!! Without her, I wouldn’t have won the gorgeous cards. :)
definitely my bff jillian. we write each other letters all the time, but seeing as we were both born in February, i’d write her a celebratory note about us and our amazing bond.
My sister…too tell her I finally won something on Bright Side Project!
My mother… in the age of technology, she refuses email and cell phones. So over the years and the miles between us, we’ve forged and enhanced our relationship through constant letters and cards.
My friend Inise. We’ve been out of touch for over a year and there really is no excuse. So a just because note to tell her she’s never forgotten.
I would write to my friend who moved across the country not long ago, just a nice little hello note to let her know I miss her and she’s not forgotten.
probably someone who helped me out at work
My grandmother, just to say “I Love You”. She is the only person who regularly sends cards instead of emails in my life, and I would love to send a beautiful card in return.
Mine would be to a fellow blogger, of one of my favorite blogs, who made my day by asking me to be her real life pen-pal, after we exchanged a few kindred spirit emails.
i will send all 12 cards out to 12 friends to let them know how much their friendship means to me…mary; marybeth; sheila; laura; ang; shaun; robin; bridget; bitsey;sunday; kara; sue..then I would buy more and send out to the rest of my list of awesome women in my life!
My friend Pam, we have been friends for 50 years. My parents owned a resort and she was one of the summer regulars. We wrote to each other when we were young, all throughout school years, when calling long distance was only for an emergency. I miss written letters.
I would send it to my best friend who moved to another city. E-mails and Facebook are great, but there’s still something special about getting a card in the mail.
I will write to my good friend who is expecting a baby. I hope to provide encouragement, love, and support to her because she is going through this amazing time in her life away from her husband (and me!).
I would write my Oma (my grandmother). She is often in my thoughts, and I try to call her often, but it is harder and harder to talk to her on the phone because her hearing is getting worse and worse! I think she would appreciate a note letting her know she isn’t far from my thoughts and how much she means to me.
If I were to win these, they’d be a gift for a friend – they’re just screaming her name. And, well, I can only assume her first note would then be a thank-you :)
the first person i will write is my sister who is in college. these notecards are whimsical and fun and bright and silly. everything that the two of us when we are together. i miss acting completely silly with her!
If I were to win I would write my husband’s grandparents that were just placed in a nursing home last week. They are having a tough time accepting the change and I would love to send them a little something special to cheer them up.
I would send a note to my soon-to-be 101 year old grandma. She is still very agile and loves to receive (and write!) notes via USPS.
My little sis, simply to tell her I love her.
I would write to my partner, just because.
My bro wishing him a fully recover
I would write a heart-felt thank you note to my parents for being so awesome!
I’ll write to my friends who graduated last year, as a farewell and thank you letter for all the help they’re given me.
my friend annee…my only true pen-pal.
as much as i appreciate the ease and instant gratification that comes through email and online social networking, there’s nothing like receiving a letter the old fashioned way :)
annee and i have been exchanging handwritten letters since we became friends 12 years ago, and i wouldn’t have it any other way. it’s such a joy to prepare a letter for her (we like to fancy them up with ribbon, drawings, collage…) and to look forward to receiving one in return!
I would send “Just Moved” cards to all of my family and friends! But how can I even begin to choose exactly who would be first?! With gorgeous stationary like that – anyone and everyone! !
I’m tragically behind on my wedding thank-you cards! But the first one I’d write would be to my mom–she wouldn’t be expecting one, and she’s been such an amazing mother for my whole life!
My next door neighbors who went out of their way to do my husband and I a generous favor. It certainly deserves to be recognized with one of these beautiful cards!
My grandmother, just because/
Definitely my Grandma. She just had a heart attack last week and went thru a tough surgery, and so I would send one to their house so my Grandpa could take it to her at the hospital. I would stuff it with pictures of the kids and pictures they made for her to hang in her hospital room.
my mom. for everything ever.
I would write my grandmommy because we have been sending each other letters and cards since I started college. Sometimes she includes newspaper articles from her hometown newspaper and sometimes I send her articles from the Daily Tarheel. She remembers everything and always includes details about what UNC was like when my dad and uncle went to school here. We always share the weather, although it’s rarely very different since she only lives a few hours away. I update her on my classes, sorority news, and extracurriculars. She tells me about her cat, having her hair done, and volunteering in the gift shop at the local hospital. Sometimes she tells me funny stories, my favorite was when she found what she thought was a dead possum in her driveway and tried to use a shovel to pick it up and throw it away. It wasn’t dead at all and it started to come at her but grandmommy showed that possum who was boss!
