{please visit pretty smitten here}

I understand turquoise is THE color for 2010. I don’t know about you, but turquoise (although beautiful and always in my heart) was my color last year. This year is beginning to show herself as moss green. Elizabeth Johnson feels my pain. Johnson is the face behind Pretty Smitten, a company that specializes in personalized stationary, party papers and gift items. Don’t be fooled by knock-offs, either. Pretty Smitten’s signature mini Swarovski crystals adorn their paper products, separating them from the crowd. Gorgeous prints and graphics, a vast array of colors AND sparkle? Yes, please.

I am currently in the process of teaching my two year old daughter the art of a good “Thank You” card. What is more perfect than personalized Kid’s Note Cards, with her choice of design and color? Absolutely nothing is more perfect than that. Johnson has raised the bar as far as I’m concerned. She has married form and function in a way that makes me, well, yes, it makes me smitten. I’m also thinking of buying myself a You Are My Sunshine poster in, you guessed it, moss green. Le sigh.

………………

Miss Krista is a mother, a lover and a big believer in the power of a cupcake. she loves double entendres but is not a fan of the high-five. she blogs about the corners of her heart at my life as i see it.

Pretty Smitten is giving away one set of their Monogrammed Folded Note Cards, featuring graphic patterns. The winner will choose his/her favorite pattern and colors and will receive 12 note cards, 12 return address labels and 12 colored envelopes. In order to enter to win, please answer the following question by Saturday, February 20, 20210:
Who will be the first person you write to with your new note cards and what is the occasion?
Good luck!  Please start checking the yellow winners box on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 to see if you won.

i would write a note to my future self. i would tell her things that i want to still remember or be able to relive in my mind 50 years from now. and to tell her not to worry so much, because the small stuff is not worth sweating over.

I would write to my “sister” in China. Our parents were best friends before my parents moved to America. I was just a toddler, but she was a bit older and when we left she gave me all of her most precious belongings (including random buttons, a baked potato, and bits of string). Over the past 30 years we’ve kept in touch, but always her more than me. I would make the effort to pull out my dusty Chinese dictionary and write her a note. Just to wish her well. And to set a precedent to write to her more. She’s a great lover of beautiful papers so I know she would apprecite it.

    Theresa N says:

To my nephew, he’s away from home and gets home sick often.

    Amanda L. says:

The first person I would write to would be my mother. My father passed away in August of last year and my mom now has an empty house to herself. Because I am hours away we send cards back and forth to each other to brighten each other’s days and send a little love and warmth through snail mail! I would love to send her one of these beautiful cards!

    Bindy says:

I would write a note for my daughter to open on her future wedding day. She is 3 now. I want to tell her all about what I want for her in life.

No special occasion… just to say hi to my friend Sarah P. We’ve been writing “real” letters to each other, and interesting stationary, since we met in college over ten years ago.

    roni says:

it will be to my grandmother to say hi. we moved away, not far, but don’t get to visit as much. i love snail mail. trying to bring it back!

    Celia says:

I’d write to my grandma! She’s the best at writing letters, and she loves to get notes in the mail – especially colorful ones!

  9. 109
    Nicole says:

I think the first person I would write to would be my husband’s grandmother. She knows I love clipping coupons, so every few weeks she will send me a huge envelope filled with coupons from all of the newspapers she gets. She is the type of lady that still loves the good, old-fashioned correspondence, so a nice, handwritten thank-you note would be perfect to send her way. Plus, it’d give me a chance to also let her know how wonderful of a woman she is.

  10. 110
    Sarah says:

I will write thank you cards for the thoughtful gifts and calls I receive on birthday. There seriously is very little I enjoy more than sending out a heartfelt card.

    KellyW says:

I would write a thank-you note to one of my high school English teachers. She was fantastic, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her or something I learned in her class.

    kim says:

I would write to my grandparents who live a few states away. No special occasion needed. I have a drawer full of blank notecards just for them. I have made a habit of writing them a quick hello every few months for the past several years. They are not much for email and I am not much for the phone (weird, I know). So handwritten notes have become our own special way of communication. I have heard from my mother several times how they gush to her about the lovely notes I have sent and just the thought of a note in their mailbox bringing a smile to their faces and brightening their day is just priceless to me.

  13. 113
    Gabreial says:

Love notes to my husband, just because. I think it keeps lines of communication open and I enjoy looking back at our notes to one another.

  14. 114

  16. 116
    Liz L. says:

My mom and I always joke about how I’m good at sending cards, but that I tend to send them about 2 weeks too late! I’d write a card to her: one that she wouldn’t be expecting, and so it couldn’t possibly be late!

  17. 117
    Emily says:

Ive just started a new business to help pay for our overseas adoptions and as a means of helping orphans in general. I have been looking for beautiful “thank you” cards to use with my customers to show them how thankful I truly am for their business. To say that these would be ‘perfect’ is an understatement.

  19. 119

I would write to my cousin and aunt, who live overseas.

They put up with me when I stayed with them for over four months and they showed me their culture, which is completely different than mine.

Anyways to get to the point, the occasion would be my cousin’s wedding {to congradulate her, and wish her the best}.

    Celeste says:

To my grandma (I call her Granny)… she is the sweetest lady you will ever meet – and she get’s such a kick out of getting letters in the mail! I’d send her a note just to say I love her & to say that I think she rocks! :) she also doesn’t have a computer…she refuses to give-in and buy one! LOL so I can never just email her anyway

  26. 126

I’m getting married this week in a tiny courthouse ceremony and having only 20 of our closest family and friends with us. I would love to use these notecards to thank the people who took time out of their busy schedules to celebrate this important day with us!

  27. 127
    Kat says:

Definitely my grandmother. She’s a hip lady and we email occasionally but I recently had to cancel a visit due to weather (what’s up, crazy DC snow?) So I’d like to write her a letter to update her on my life. She send beautiful notes for my birthday, Valentine’s Day, any minor holiday and I’d love to share these gorgeous cards with her. After all, she is the one who first gave me an appreciation for art and design.

  33. 133

I might write my dad a letter…it’s been awhile since we had a heart to heart. Our words always seem to work best on paper.

  34. 134

My best friend, Margo. She and I have kept in touch since we were 13 solely by letter, telephone and email. Only occasionally seeing each other in person.
