HOME SWEET
The year I turned seven, my mother told me I could choose the paint color for my room. I chose lavender. Later I switched to peach and sea foam green. Then there was the time I decided we should paint one of our living room walls bright yellow. “I love hue”, indeed. Jenny Nelson, the owner of Home Sweet, is a much more reliable source of color inspiration.
Home Sweet is a small textile business specializing in block printed sustainable fabrics and home décor. Nelson’s water-based inks are mostly hand-mixed and each color combination is chosen carefully, with consideration for creating colors that are energetic but not saturated. Sustainability is a primary focus. Fabrics range from hemp to organic cotton to soy and the studio is constantly looking for ways to be more eco-friendly.
Looking for a way to spruce up your home with clean and simple splashes of color? Might I suggest the Block Printed Fabric Bucket in the room, a Lumbar Pillow Cover on your bed with a Small Lamp Shade dangling above you as you read or perhaps a gorgeous Block Printed Kitchen Towel hanging from the stovetop? “I love hue” all over again.

I live in a roomy bachelor apartment where I have a bathroom, a kitchen, and a main room. I like the main room best because it’s got the comfy things like my bed and couch in it!
The living room is my favorite room because that’s where everyone comes together to spend quality time with each other. :)
I love my bathroom because when it;s clean it feels like a fortress of germ free beauty. Everything is white and cream and it makes my mind feel organized and relaxed.
My living room is my favorite, it’s where we spend most of our time.
I live in an apartment with 3 other girls, so my favorite room is MY bedroom. I am a bit of a hermit so I love the peacefulness of my room. These four walls have been my home, and I find comfort in being able to come to my room and know I will be able to relax. Plus, its a crazy shade a lime green and I love to look at it! Plusx2, its where all my pictures of friends and family are!:)
My favorite room of the house is the kitchen. My husband and I decided to get a one bedroom flat with a big kitchen rather than a two bedroom with a small kitchen because we love cooking together and entertaining friends. When we first met I lived somewhere with an open plan kitchen/living room and it’s where we all used to sit and catch up. We’ve carried on with that tradition and now when our friends are over, we make them a cup of tea and give them a comfy seat in the kitchen while we cook something delicious. When we’re on our own, we dance around the kitchen as we chop and wash, sometimes meeting in the middle for a kiss.
Im so tired of my mixed up His and Her and hand me down pieces that make up our home. With 5 adult children living at home, and my husband, our home is set up to be more functional than pretty and personal. I decided to make little bits and peices of my house MINE. Im 53 now, and still haven’t used all my “nice” things. Time to start! I dug up in the attic and took out all my china peices that I loved, the good silverware, my college art, my favorite quilts that I had made years ago that were tucked away in my hope chest. I hung up a china shelf and put my favorite peices of red transfer china sugar and creamers on display. They look adorable. My favorite part of the house now is the one that says “Oh, Suzanne lives here!”
My favorite room in my house is my bedroom. I share an apartment with roommates and sometimes it is nice to retreat to my own little space and be surrounded by things I love for some quiet time.
My favorite room is less of a room and more of a nook where I keep my desk. It’s one place in my apartment where I feel I have it decorated just right: wooden hand-me-down desk, glass owl pencil holder, framed art fair poster, and old metal school chair to hold printer. I have found, though, that no matter where I live I’m always drawn to the nook. I guess I never outgrew the desire to create my own little world.
My craft room…I love to create and it gets me giddy and excited about what I can make!!!
My bedroom… for obvious reasons… but also for some not-so-obvious reasons. I love the color of the walls, the way the comforter smells, how the sun comes through the windows mid-day, the lighting at night bouncing off the walls so that shadow-puppets are a must. I love my bedroom!
My favorite room in my house is my “reading room,” which is really just an extra bedroom that I’ve turned into a cozy home office. The walls are Friendly Yellow, which is about the nicest sounding shade of paint I can imagine. It’s warm and pretty and relaxing, and I like to spend time there.
My bedroom. It’s so calming (we painted it a dark, midnight blue).
I love my kitchen! When I crochet my little creatures I use to sit at the table in my kitchen where there is the best light of the house during the morning. I also love the black and white cabinets, the photos on the fridge door, my mugs and the plant of sage. I feel free to express myself when I sit in my kitchen!
my favorite room is my guest bathroom. It’s always clean, and tidy, and is painted in a “Paris Mint” that refreshes me every time I walk in there!
My favorite room in my house is my living room. I love our big comfy leather couch and the fireplace that keeps us warm during the cold winter days and nights.
I love our family room, because it’s got our couch, where my husband and I snuggle with our cats and watch TV. It also has a fantastic collage of frames on the wall that my husband put together, all of which were given to us at one of my bridal showers, because we didn’t register for our wedding and requested that our friends and family gift us with a framed picture of their family as a shower present, so we’d have our support system surrounding us. On the opposite wall, we’ve got shelves with some overflow of my DVD collection, which is bright and colorful, as well as some small plants which add a nice touch to the room. Behind our couch are fantastic tall windows (I had to sew our light-blocking roman shades myself, because the windows were too tall to order standard sizes!), which let in tons of light. It’s my favorite room in the house because it’s where we all gravitate, and it’s cozy without being overcrowded and colorful, despite our apartment-white walls.
my favorite room in my home is the kitchen because I love to cook while spending time with loved ones
My favorite room is our living room. We rent a small townhome, and with the furniture we have, it is a really, really cozy place to be. It also has a large Expedit bookcase in it, which showcases a lot of our treasures. So, not only can my husband and I be snuggly, but we can look on to all of our treasured items and photos.
my favorite room is our porch. it is full of light and we just finished decorating it. it used to be storage and recycling. now there’s a couch, Flor tiles and lots of pillows to hang out. can’t wait til spring when i can have the windows open again.
My favorite room is the kitchen. My husband and I cook a lot and when we have parties, everyone always ends up hanging out around the kitchen island.
My favorite room is the sun room! We just moved into this house 2 months ago, and it’s been too cold to spend much time there, but 3 of the walls are filled with giant picture windows looking out at our wooded backyard!
kitchen….it may not be glamorous (yet), it is such a source of joy and entertainment. And you can find the cutest, function things to go in it. Who doesn’t love smiling spoons, really.
Far and away it is my bedroom. It’s where all problems disappear. Where I relax, read, dream and just think. All distractions and problems in the world disappear when I’m in there.
I’d have to say the living room. It’s where my husband & I snuggle up together for dinner & a good TV show or movie. We spend most of our time here. Next up, however, would definitely be our cozy bedroom!
Our living room is, hands down, my favorite space in our house. Not only is it filled with pictures and art that bring back memories of our adventures, family and friends but it’s also the place were everyone we love comes and hangs out. If it’s just for some thai delivery, a good movie, or making some kind of crafty, fun project it always feels like it’s filled with warmth and comfort.
If the laundry room was where we all gathered to just enjoy our time together, I would love that room most of all. It’s not the actual room that makes it great…it’s what happens in it.
My favorite room would have to be my living room. It is the coziest part of our bungalow. There are lots of plants, pictures from our travels and a cozy red couch for husband and I to cuddle on. And it is roomy enough to have our beloved friends over.
my kitchen. It is painted yellow and you can’t help but feel happy while cooking or eating in it!
When I was a kid, my favorite room was the bathroom because it was the only room in the house that I knew I could find privacy in! Now that I’m an adult and I live alone, I love my living room because I design it for myself, but I also like sharing it with my friends.
My Craft Room – such inspiration and peace. I can lock myself away in there for hours. Thanks for the chance!
my favorite room isn’t as much of a room as it is a space….right when you walk in my house the entry hall has some of my favorite photographs and framed fabric in vintage frames that I’ve collected over the years…every time I step in the door I’m instantly welcomed by memories and pretty prints!
I love my attic because is nice and bright and it is my sewing room… all nice fabrics stashed there… and room to leave the work when I’m not able to finish it right away.. I could make some beautiful new pillows there with the lovely new fabrics from home sweet!
My favorite room is my kitchen. It’s bright, cheery with lots of light, and very functional, which is good because I spend a lot of time there.
My favorite room is my office. We lovingly call it “my fort.” I spend a lot of time in there watching movies, writing things, typing away on my computer. Most of all it’s a space that’s truly me. I love it.
my bedroom. it’s where we sleep & love. two of the greatest gifts on earth.
Our basement. We refinished it 2 years ago and it has become our spot to relax and enjoy life together.
Well, I have a big family and we share everything
so the only place I love the most in the house is my bedroom because I helped in the remodling process and made the room ‘mine’, and its the only place I dont have to share,
But im not complaining I like sharing :)
When you live in a one bedroom apartment…you only have two choices! I’d go for my main room; I love the colored binders, the books, the glass jars…it feels like home.
My library/reading room is loved. It might be the biggest room in my house, too. It is not a picture of beauty; I have bookshelves lined along all of the walls and one leather chair, even though it’s a very large room with plenty space to spare. It is the only place I can read- I’ve become so attached to it.
my favorite room would have to be our bedroom. we just moved into a new home (our first) and that is the only room that is “completed”, more or less, at this point. i worked hard to keep it simple and tranquil, really a haven. the light blue-grey walls, mixed with dark wood furniture and plenty of ivory and white, create the perfect escape.
My favorite room …it is hard for me to pick. I love my bedroom because it is deep blue with silver fleur de lis. I love blue and it is so calming and refreshing.
My favorite room is my bedroom. It is a lovely shade of turquoise, cream and brown. It houses all my favorite images from my husband and I’s life together. We have a wall dedicated to our wedding and it is just my place to be restful surrounded by my favorite memories.
After 2 years of living in different states, I just moved in with my boyfriend. Coming from another state with just a compact car full of possessions, it has been a slow process in trying to assert my feminine touch into our new home. As a result, my favorite room has become the bathroom. I have carefully picked colorful patterned towels for the towel rack, and lined up all my sweet scented soaps and lotions. Nothing makes me happier or more relaxed than stepping into the warm, steamy, perfumed bathroom after a shower and enjoying some moments alone before a busy day.
My favorite room in my house is my own bedroom because it’s like a sanctuary for me. It’s a great little hideaway where I can just spend time quietly reading, journaling, or listening to music. Despite being an extrovert, I really value my privacy and alone time because that is how I wind down at the end of a long social day :)
My favorite room in the house is my room…but it makes me sad to think about it. I’ve spent the last four years making my room into a rose-covered, antique, shabby chic haven, and in just 6 months I have to leave it to move into a tiny, ugly, drab dorm room. I can’t take my chandelier with me, I can’t take my claw-foot, antique desk with me, I can’t take my dusty-rose pink wall with me, and I’m still trying to figure out if I can take my lacy curtains with me. There are little things (picture frames, hooks, signs) that I can take with me, but I don’t know if they’ll be enough to make a nasty little dorm room into the peaceful, old-fashioned place that my room is now.
I adore our living room. Windows all around the room, nice and open, moves onto the dining room and kitchen. Glorious and I am loving getting it setup to be even more glorious.
Right now I am desperate to get home to my bathroom – a place with a real shower set just the way I like it – lots of pressure! After travelling for so many months I’ve had more bad showers than ok ones, and now I need a great one to feel normal again!
My living room – I have a comfy couch, bright walls, and room enough for whatever needs to happen.
My favorite room in my house is my daughters’ bedroom. They are 3 & 4 and share a room. We moved to this house when my first daughter was barely one and I worked so hard to get her room cozy and cute to help her with the transitions of new home and new sister. Now it is all pale yellow and pink, with lots of whimsical touches, and the best place to sing, play, giggle, and enjoy each other. :)
Favorite room would have to be my bedroom – although it’s not only a bedroom, it’s our playroom, our school room, my stamping/crafting space, basically more of a family room than the one we have! Maybe it’s because our children our still young but we tend to congregate on our bed. Beautiful products!!
