When in search of chic accessories more often than not you’ll come up shorthanded at your local office supply. This is where today’s contributor, russell+hazel steps in with fresh options in colors and patterns that function as beautifully as they look.
The world of russell+hazel lies at the intersection of color, function and style. Founded in 2003 by Christine Plantan, russell+hazel is a headquarters for productivity tools for school, work and home. Abiding by the philosophy “that good design is not over-design or design for design’s sake, rather pleasing design with loads of functionality.” Plantan has grown their collection to include binders, notes cards, totes, and more.
Whether shopping online or in store you can customize their systems to fit your needs both functionally and fashionably. Signature binders come in fantastic hues of book-linen, have dry erase interiors and sturdy rubber bands to keep contents secure. SmartDate planners complete binders for easy scheduling and organizing. For brides-to-be, russell+hazel’s wedding collection offers pretty planning for the betrothed. Self adhesive note sets, stamps, memos, leather cases, and paper pockets round out their offerings for a stylish office.
The options russell+hazel offer have my mind spinning with possibilities. Color-coordinated organization and pretty paper products are on the short list of things that make my heart pitter patter. Head on over to to their Minneapolis store (if you are lucky enough to be close by) to check out their Binder Bar where you can build your perfect system all while enjoying snacks and drinks. But trust this southern girl who is no where near there that shopping online is equally as fun. And with a slogan like “add life to you work” you’d expect nothing less!

Best office supply ever made….manila folders. I use them for everything and it is my one attempt at remaining organized. When in doubt…put it in a folder.
sticky notes and not in a “stick them all over my monitor kind of way”
I like them so much b/c I can use them to color code and to take notes in my planner or in books (but not actually write in the book). And they’re also so perfect for my many many lists (and very portable as I stick the list to my iphone while running errands…)
My favorite office supply is a drawer tray. To be able to put all of those little office supplies in their own special compartments and not have them rolling around in my desk brings me immense satisfaction. Being able to organize everything just makes the stress roll off my back. I have a deep dark desire for every item I own to be perfectly in it’s place. If I let this desire take hold of my life my house would look like the Container Store.
Oh, this is so generic, but I just LOVE paper. Good paper, with a great tooth, the kind that takes lead or ink beautifully. Paper that feels like it’s THERE in your hands. Paper, to me, means possibilities. My office is full of terrible paper, because my boss is cheap. We have awful notepads from 5 different title companies, but none branded in our company’s logo. We have generic notecards printed on the most boring “linen textured” paper, which no one sends out to their clients. I am allowed to buy recycled copy paper, since we go through so very, very much of it, but I have to buy the least expensive brand. My dream is to escape from my boring desk job and work in a stationery store and touch beautiful papers all day long, richly pigmented and begging for something more consequential than a scrawled message to me, letting me know that an agent once AGAIN can’t figure out something on her computer. Paper.
For some reason, I love paper clips. Some so special (like the curly cue ones) that I won’t even use them, I just keep them shiny and new in the drawer waiting for an appropriate occassion – they would look great with this sleek binders!
My slogan would have to be “Make all your communications hospitable, nearly empty rooms, open to the use of your guest” I like the idea of hospitality as being something that allows for the guests interpretation of events not just your own. An empty hook for a coat and a question with no rhetoric are to me exactly the same thing.
My favorite office supply is definitely my trusty micro tip Uni-Ball pen. I refuse to write with anything else and obsess over getting it back when I lend it to someone. It writes like a dream!
It is what it IS! I love page protectors and binders. I can organize my recipes, tear sheets, idea files, and important notes. I keep them in baskets w/my magazines and in drawers in my craft room, office and kitchen.
I love binder clips! I use them to organize everything into manageable piles.
my little star stamp, because it can add a personal, playful touch to almost any object!
My favorite office supply is pens. The different colors and styles are limitless. Using a brightly colored pen can make even the mot boring tasks more enjoyable.
I could never even possibly pick one favorite office supply. Staples is like my heaven!
My little dog shaped stapler of course…if only it barked everytime you used it!
My life’s slogan would be this: “You are responsible for your own happiness.” It never fails to be both relevant and true.
My favourite office supply are pens. I love the feeling you get from using them on different types of paper. I love using different colours of pens too.
Be crafty and thrive.
Make it Happen!
Notepads. I need my lists and the ability to check things off.
Favorite office supply: My vintage red Swingline stapler.
Best office supply, hands down: binder clips. I they have so many uses outside of the office… almost every food package in my apartment is held closed with a binder clip, colorful ones hold a display of photos and memorabilia in my bedroom, one holds magazine tearsheets and notes to the cover of my sketchbook… the list goes on and on!
My fav office supply are pens! I especially love “Le Pen” pens-they are perfect for letter writing!!! :)
I’m ADDICTED to purse size notebooks! I like the ones that have the little pockets, so I can stuff receipts/fabric samples/pictures from magazines, etc., I use one a month – all my friends are facinated with them for some reason. My mother did the same and when she passed away my sister and I found boxes filled with her “purse books – as she called them”. I’m amazed that we have both documented the same things!
“keep moving forward”
it from walt disney’s meet the robinsons but I feel that the tagline
is something I want to adopt because there have been many
failures in the past and I don’t want to dwell in them over and over
again.
live it, love it, don’t lose it.
as for the office supplies, i’m all about some binder clips and a good planner. bam.
Ummm, Sharpie Markers, no question. I love the 24 multi-pak of all colors! Every time I see one at the store, I drool. I haven’t been able to justify spending the money on them- but oh, the projects I have in mind for all those beautiful colors!
Sorry, but I canceled the pity party.
Pens! Definitely pens! In every color, style, size, & shape, please! It’s nice to have just the right one for your mood at the time :)
stainless steel sharpies! sadly, we don’t have those lying around at the office, but i am definitely going to have them at my wedding!
Smooth, creamy paper. Somehow my handwriting always improves when I write on nice paper!
My favourite office supply is the clipboard, the one with a plain board and a metal clip.
Maybe because I don’t get to find them easy where I live.
Be colourful!
O, and for the office supplies, my favourites are stamps and inkpads, I love stamping and I even make my own
Don’t forget your life when you’re working.
I work from home and the line is not clearly drawn. I start and I can’t stop. I always feel the work hanging over me. Pulling down on me. Maybe if I had more beautiful things in my office to remind me that I have a life outside of work, I would remember not to work. Hmm.
My favorite office accessories are pens! I love having lots and lots of pens in every color of the rainbow at my desk.
Tape! I am in love with Japanese decorative tapes. Why use transparent when you can use hippos floating with balloons or monkeys holding apples?? Everything in life should be cute, and tape is no exception!
The shredder…feels SO good to destroy the paper, haha. I get a lot of my stress out that way! :)
“Celebrate the details!”
as i work in an office and am in close contact with such a dear family of useful, helpful, reliable office supplies each and every hour, i have to say my favorite one of the bunch is a good pen. there’s nothing as unpleasant as a weird-grippy, rough-writing utensil…and there’s nothing more amazing than a comfortable, seamless, even-ink-distributing pen. glorious!
My favorite office supplies are markers. Any kind of marker makes me happy.
Favorite office supply EVER… label maker. Oh, how I wish I had one at home!
Strive to Become. That would be my life slogan.
My favorite office supply is my backup harddrive.. it is never fun when your computer has a breakdown – yes I learned this the hard way.. it is so much easier when my documents and pictures are available no matter what computer I am using..
Oh … these are beautiful.
My life slogan : Live life to the fullest… and appreciate everyday. Life’s too short.
My slogan when I’m stressed and what I repeat is “Breathe… then Organize.” It always seems during the craziest moments, I just need to take a breath or two then organize the things that are stressing me out whether it’s my to do list, my card calendar, or the mess in my craft room!
tape dispenser and binder clips.
My favorite office supplies are pens! I love love collecting pens. Especially those Japanese ones with the tiniest tips!
Work hard to play. Play hard at work.
(time to twist up the old standard!!)
While standing in line at an office supply store last weekend, my boyfriend said, “I love that you always go straight to the tape section.” I wasn’t fully aware of this before he said it, but it’s true: I love tape. Japanese washi tape, ruler-printed tape, electrical tape, photographer’s tape, painter’s tape. Measuring tape, even though it’s not really tape. I collect tape like some women collect lip balm. I use tape to label things that don’t even need labeling. I scratch-proofed the back of my ipod with tape. And if I had a slogan that didn’t involve tape, it’d be borrowed from The Laughing Cow: Souriez, ça ira mieux.
My favorite office supplies are different color pens. Currently using a fabulous Purple uniball. And I also REALLY love HAPPY TAPE!
This would be a great giveway to win!
I love bright colored post-its and funky paper clips!
I love sticky notes.
