CHANDRA RUGS

Every so often a product comes along and makes waves throughout the design world and the blogosphere. In August of last year two equally talented forces combined talents and the internet definitely took notice. Chandra Rugs and Amy Butler collaborated to offer her amazing designs on their high quality rugs and that my friends, is when floors of the world were forever changed!
Chandra rugs are among the most coveted in the industry and for good reason. At Chandra, they know the importance of personal style and strive to create fresh, modern rugs that will stand the test of time in both function and fashion. Ravi Tiwari, Vice President of Chandra says their motto: “High Design. High Value” is a simple statement that says it all.
When working to produce the collection Amy Butler traveled to India to work with Tiwari and his team. Together they selected the finest 100% New Zealand wool which textile masters carve using special scissors. It takes three men two days to carve each area rug by hand! The company uses no harsh chemical washes, the industries safest chrome dyes and natural latex adhesive to create their fine rugs.
The Amy Butler collection keeps with Chandra’s mission to promote traditional handmade Indian rugs while defining a new area in design. It is a perfect marriage of classic and modern elements. The rugs are available in 19 patterns based on Butler’s original designs and come in two sizes.
I challenge you to find a home whose style would not be instantly amplified by one of these rugs. An entire room could easily be designed around a Chandra rug and conversely these rugs are the perfect finishing touch to any room that needs an extra touch. At the moment I’m contemplating turning my home in to a mini Chandra showroom. The only problem? I don’t have 19 rooms!

My craft room because my dogs aren’t allowed in that room! My initial reaction said to put the beautiful rug in my living room because that way everyone who came into my home would see it, but then I realized it would probably get beat up by my two rough-housing dogs. Plus, the colors and shapes are amazing, so it’ll probably help inspire me while in my craft room.
I would put this rug in my living room because it is the last room in our house where we are taking up carpet and putting down hardwood. It’s also the room that I have been redoing over the past few months to make it more “user friendly”.
Ack! Gorgeous! I’d put it in my craft room. The floors are concrete and very cold and I think this would warm up the place both literally and figuratively.
This utterly spectacular rug would find a home in my bedroom. Although I adore my family, and would like to share this underfoot artwork with them in a communal space, my head would explode at the first chocolate milk spill or ground up graham cracker.
I’d place this lovely rug in the main room of my and my boyfriend’s apartment. In an effort to compromise when we first moved in together, I may have been too quick to relinquish my taste (hence the cardboard basketball hoop taped to the wall). I’d like to inject some of my favorites back into the décor so the room feels like a true merging of our personalities.
What an amazing piece! It is so vivid that you can feel the colors and the texture and then be able to imagine yourself transported to a luscious and an inviting village. With that type of inspiration, I would have to put this rug in my creative space!
I would put this in my bedroom and then redo my decor (which is nonexistent right now) to match. How inspirational are those colors? Our bedroom would seriously be so hip and more like a vacation with the addition of this rug. Love it!
I would put it in my living room. It would fit my color palette perfectly and bring the focus to the floor. I have been trying to find ways to bring more pattern to the space but did not consider a new rug due to the expense. I am a diehard Amy Butler fan and having one of her new rugs would make my year!
I would put it in my living room because I love my hardwood floors, but a beautiful rug would cozy it up a bit!!
I would put the rug in my studio. Its beautiful pattern would keep me inspired!! I am a musician and a yoga teacher and I love to sew and create, so I hope I can add this rug to the decor help me do just that! I am so grateful to have a room in my house where I can spend most of every day working and creating, but it does need some finishing touches, and it’s definitely missing this gorgeous rug!!!!!!
by the way, this is my fave giveaway yet!!!!!!
I cannot begin to tell you how much I have been lusting after this beautiful rug since I first saw a “sneak peek” of Chandra’s Amy Butler collection in a home decor blog last summer. It reflects the personality of my home to a T.
My husband and I recently moved to our dream home. It’s by no means perfect, and needs dedicated work, but it’s perfect for us. One of our requirements for a house was a room that we could use both as a guest room and a reading room. The colors we’ve planned for this room, which has wood floors, are the blue and olive of this rug. We’re building white bookshelves for one wall, and painting them a soft white.
I did a happy dance when I saw today’s post on Bright Side. Right now, with the work the house requires, our budget just doesn’t allow for a rug, much less one of this quality, so I’m keeping all fingers crossed. Thanks so much to you and Chandra rugs for this generous giveaway.
EEEK! Stunning! This is where I’d be doing snow (rug) angels every morning when I woke up. After much thought I have decided this beautiful and really soft looking rug would go in my upstairs den where I do yoga. I can think of nothing more beautiful to look at while doing “down dog” and “tree pose” and “sun salutation” than this Chandra rug. Sigh.
Well…this is a strange answer, but I would put it in my future child’s room. I’m not yet pregnant, or even trying (but will be in the next year), and always the planner, I’ve already started a folder for potential “nursery items”. This would be perfect! It’s cheery, and not too baby-ish…totally gorgeous!
it would absolutely go in my living room and i have a vintage shipping trunk that i purchased from a thrift store recently so i would putting the trunk on the rug to use as my coffee table!
wow – this is absolutely stunning. My husband and I just put a bid on a home and the offer was accepted and when i close my eyes and try to envision what room i’d put this carpet in, i’d have to say ALL of the rooms!!!
This would go in my (8×10) hallway area. See, I have a cat, Emmett, who has cerebellar hypoplasia (akin to cebral palsy in humans). She’s 3 years old but will never be bigger than a kitten. Anyway, she doesn’t walk well (though she runs great if she bunny hops) and she shakes A LOT so when she does walk she falls over. She uses her little claws to get back up when she falls over, so every room in our house has rugs. I hated to cover the beautiful hardwood flooring, but she’s very much worth it. The only room that doesn’t have a rug is our hall area, because we’ve been fairly broke since we moved in (our first house! squee!). So this would go in my hallway to be beautiful AND useful!
I would put this astonishingly beautiful rug in the room where I spend the most time: my bedroom/home office. It is a long, ill-proportioned room and for as long as I have lived in this apartment, I have had difficulties tying the sleeping area to the study area; they simply act as two angry antitheses who do not want to become friendly with one another, no matter the plants, art work or textiles I use to create cohesion. It is as though the two areas are constantly at war with each other. With the introduction of this spectacular rug to tie the room together (indeed, to center and ground the whole room!), there is no way that my desk and bed can remain unfriendly toward each other. Instead, I might find the legs of my bed lovingly caress the edge of the rug, winking flirtatiously with its pillows, and my desk at the other side of the room sending some flash card love notes across the rug. Such a beautiful rug definitely possesses the magic not only to create cohesion and unity in a disjointed room, but to bring all elements lovingly together.
It’s so lovely. Sigh. I imagine I would put it in my home office. First of all, it’s just what I love – a hint of the past, with a modern flare. It would blend perfectly with my computer desk & hutch, which is accented by a vintage radio, 1927 Underwood typewriter, books, fountain pens, etc. And if I’m not mistaken, that there is a rug of magic … sure to inspire creativity of all sorts and varieties. Of course, I might just roll it up and take it with me wherever I may roam …
This beautiful rug would go in the eating area of my kitchen … it’s where everyone ends up and a place where I could marvel at it over and over again throughout the day. It would be a great compliment to the wood floors and dark walls … and it has my favorite shades of blue & green! Amy Butler and Chandra rugs, great combination!
how sad is this? if i won this rug, i’d be beyond excited but for the moment it would have to be rolled and placed in my closet until i moved out of my parents’ house and got my own apartment. but i’d be dreaming of the place to put it until that day comes…
What a beautiful rug! I would love to be able to give it to my daughter for her family room. It would be so bright and cheery for her and her family to enjoy on a daily basis. Thanks for letting me try.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL RUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would without a doubt lay this on the floor right next to my bed, so the first thing in the morning I will feel its beauty on my feet and see it with my eyes and go on to start my day with a feeling of being so lucky to own such a beautiful piece. And the last thing at night going to sleep with the same beauty and feelings. So gorgeous.
Pick me!! I have been looking for a rug for my Living Room foreva!! That size would fit perfectly centered in the room. I want a rug that is not only beautiful and the colors go with the rest of the furniture but one that I can lay down on and curl up with a blanket. May sound strange but I like laying on the floor watching the tele. I don’t have much furniture but I have pieces that stand out and that i love. So I would like the rug to join this elite collection;-)
I would just die if I won this! This is the exact rug that I’ve been dreaming of getting one day for my family room. I’ve pulled all the colors into my decor hoping to snag it….one day! :) I’d love ya forever!! :) :) Thanks for the fabulous opportunity to win!!!
wow it is so beautiful! I had never heard of Chandra Rugs before so I went to check out the website. I loved what I saw . Besides this one the India rugs where my favorite. Loved the colour theme.
If I would be so lucky to win this rug I would put it in my livingroom. The livingroom is where I gather friends and family, for dinner parties, drinks or a cup of tea and it would be a shame to put this rug anywhere but where it can be enjoyed by more people than just me. In my current apartment it fits perfectly with everything from the light grey walls, my furniture and the wooden floor. I have looked for a nice rug since I moved in one and half year ago but my current economic situation has prevented me from buying one. Put in my livingroom the rug would be the first thing I saw when I walk in the door and the first thing any of my guests would see. It would put a smile on my face every day and I am pretty sure it would make many a guest smile too.
Oh my, what a lovely rug this is!! If I was lucky enough to win it, it would go in my bedroom. The colors are perfect….warm, soft and relaxing. Perfection for a bedroom. Since we live in the country on a farm, in our bedroom it would get the least amount of daily traffic and would last a lifetime. What a beauty!
wow, thats gorgeous! I would put it in my home office. The colors in my office are shades of blue and green and its pretty feminine. It would go perfect! And I’ve been on the search for a perfect rug for that room. It would be so lovely to show off to my clients.
I just signed a year lease on a new space, where I will create my Wellness Center. I practice Chinese Medicine. I have no doubt that this rug would bring peace and tranquility to my space–it has VERY good feng shui! I know my patients would LOVE it too. Also, it has a peony, which is my favorite flower!!!
I would design my new living/sitting room around this rug. We are currently renovating an older home and will be moving in in about a month. What perfect timing! This room is the very first room you see when you walk in the house. It would be a wonderful showcase.
Dining room! Dining room! I’d redecorate the whole room around that gorgeous rug!
Most definitely a rug this gorgeous would have to go in my sewing room which is the only room in the house my two dogs and a cat are not allowed in. I would have a hard time leaving my craft room if I had this beautiful room! I might just have to move into that room and only live in there! Although my husband probably wouldn’t like that….or maybe he would! Thanks for the awesome chance at the most fabulous rug ever!
It would live in my living room, where the colors would be perfect. Right now, I have rag rugs grouped together to form an area rug – but I’m the only one who seems to like this. This lovely rug would be a great improvement!
I have my own walk-in closet (separate from his). I’d put the rug in there to cheer me every day as I dressed. Then, in the summer, I’d move it to my covered patio — would be stunning there.
Oh goodness. What a giveaway! I would put this rug in our living room. We moved to a new house in November and only had enough money/time to redo the bedrooms and bathroom. The sad living room is in a state of semi-makeover and it is pretty hideous. It also has no color scheme yet so this would be perfect! We could use these beautiful colors! (Actually we have a chair that would look great with this…I’m already seeing it come together!)
crapola. It’s too small for my living room, so I’d definitely place it smack dab in the middle of my home office. :)
Must pop my eyes back in to answer this question! wowzers, what a fantastic prize!
If I won this rug, I would put it in my bedroom, I’m in the process of making myself a comfortable area to relax in and do some reading, crocheting, cross-stitching, etc. I think this rug would help make my area so much more beautiful!
I love to rearrange things in my home so this beauty would probably have a chance to be admired at one time or another in most of our rooms. Now, that would only happen if my daughter who is a HUGE Amy Butler fan didn’t load it into the back of her car and take it home :)
Oh my goodness, this is perfect! My fiance and I are first time home buyers. We fell in love with a condo that has all wood flooring, and now we need rugs to match! We won’t move in until May, but I have been planning on a brown and baby blue scheme (the previous owners had already painted the walls a gorgeous brown). Unfortunately, it’s taking some time for my fiance to agree with the idea…but I’m thinking that as soon as he sees this rug in the new place, there’s no way he could say no!
Ohhh!!! The most beautiful rug! I would definitely put it in my bedroom so I could go to sleep and wake up to luxury. With two young children and toys all over our house, and a husband home recovering from surgery, I’ve been trying to ‘re-claim’ our bedroom and turn it into a semi-sanctuary where I can rest (finally!) late in the evenings! It would definitely be a fabulous treat after a long several weeks! And it matches my new bedding PERFECTLY!!!!
OOH,OOH,OOH!!! I What a beautiful rug!!!! I know just where we would put it! My husband and I added a sun room to our house this past Fall. We decided that we would slowly decorate it because a) we have do not have a lot of money to spend, and b) we want every piece to be special to us. We have three children and our house it not that big. The only room that is supposed to be for my husband and I is our bedroom, and really, we have at least one child join us a night! We built this room for adults only!!! The rug would be a beautiful addition!
This gorgeous rug would look stunning in any room of my vintage inspired home! I think if I were fortunate enough to win this I would put it my bedroom and turn that space into a happy, healing, restful place. My own retreat, filled with sunlight, and beautiful blues.
I LOVE this rug. I would put it in my livingroom. its happy bright colors match the attitude of the room… all the fun happens in the livingroom! We already have blues and greens in the room, and this rug would really “tie the room together” :)
Oh I know exactly where it would go! My husband and I just bought our first house, it would go under the coffee table in our new living room. We’ve been looking for a stylish, modern, unique rug for a month now and these are divine!
I live in a very tiny apartment, so it’d go in the living room – the only room with enough space to hold it. I’m an intern, so it’d be great to have a tiny bit of luxury in my sea of craigslist finds.
Ohhhh I love this rug!!! My father in law and husband just finished our brand new wood floors this week… that would be absolutely perfect in my living room under my coffee table! It would become my colorful focal point downstairs, it would be great to add beautiful bright blues to my downstairs!
In my house, we have one large main room which is the living room/office/dining room space. And I would put it in there. It’s the first room you see in the house, and I’d love to have this rug in there to start the tour off right!!
I would put it in my favorite spot in my house, where my chair for morning coffee and a book is located, near the doors overlooking my small but cosy back-garden… It would match perfectly with the newly covered vintage-chair…
Definately my bedroom, that is in desperate need of a renovation. I love my bedroom, but it needs a little color & boldness. This rug would be just perfect!
I lovelovelove those shades of teal and olivey green. To me it has a bit of an eastern Mediterranean feel, and reminds me of when I used to work in Turkey, which I desperately miss. It would have to go in my main living area – it’s not only the first room you walk into, but also the only room it would fit in! My tiny but lovely Brooklyn apartment would absolutely love having this rug, and of course so would I!
I would put it in my living room for one reason because it would make me happy!
