Shakespeare once wrote “Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments.” Melissa Dubbs, the face behind Madison Reece Designs, merges two true loves of mine in every piece she creates. Dubbs combines unique and rustic silver jewelry (love no. 1) and custom personalized design (love no. 2) to turn out stunningly sweet necklaces, charms and bracelets. Lean in, put your ears close. This jewelry speaks.
The Fine Silver Birdie Necklace whispers sweet nothings to your clavicle. The Fine Silver Giving Tree, adorned with a pearl and crystal, reminds you to take a break in the shade. The Rustic Silver Collection – As I Wait effortlessly allows you to carry spring with you, no matter the season. Are you feeling the love yet? I thought so.
“If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved.”

Miss Krista, our Weekend Editor, is a mother, a lover and a big believer in the power of a cupcake. She loves double entendres but is not a fan of the high-five. She blogs about the corners of her heart at my life as i see it.

Probably just hearing our wedding vows from my husband. He was so emotional and so heartfelt, it was a wonderful moment!
When I was at my old job downtown, my husband and I would often catch the bus at the same stop in the evenings. I loved to wait for the bus and watch him coming around the corner and be delighted that I’d get to sit with him on the way home. In my birthday card that year, he wrote that he loves to watch my face when I spot him, because I would just light up and make him feel like the most special person in the world. I loved that he said that.
A couple of months after I had my son it was my birthday and my husband and I usually don’t do gifts for one another. But he got me one that year. It was a bracelet with 3 charms on it, a heart with mom engraved on it, the letter E for my son’s name, and another heart with little diamonds which he said was for his love for me. He’s not a very romantic guy so I know it took a lot of thought and effort for him. I love wearing it and the meaning behind it.
Once, while making breakfast, in my rumpled pjs, no make-up, and bed hair, my boyfriend looked at me and out of the blue said, “you make me want to be a better person”.
I was having a particularly hard day at work, and emailed my boyfriend about it. He responded that he was making bread with his new bread machine, considering which soup to make me for dinner, and thinking about the small of my back. I just about melted. Definite keeper.
My now-husband wrote a letter (handwritten on notebook paper) to me a few weeks after we started dating, when I went on a roadtip with my girlfriends, telling me how much he loved spending time with me and how grateful he was that we’d found each other. We’re both music lovers, so my most favorite line from his incredibly sweet letter was “You’re the Beatles against a background of Dave Clark Five cover bands.” Be still my heart. Still gives me goosbumps.
“Don’t dwell on the might-have-beens and look at all the could-bes”
(I married that man.)
One nice guy, once said me, “i like you because you odd, not like all the normal girls” And oh did my heart melt or what! It was so sweet and made me feel proud of my oddness.
my husband wrote me a poem after our first date. so romantic!
Husband after we lost our baby: You will be a mother. I will be a father. We don’t have to create life with each other to be parents. We will be parents to a child that needs us and our world will be rainbows and sprinkles.
I was laid off from my job last week and when I got home with my car packed with boxes my fiance greeted me with outstretched arms and hugged me as I cried. He didn’t have to say much. He just rubbed my back and whispered in my ear that everything would be ok. I love him for that and for every other showing of strength when the little unexpected things happen in our lives.
“Hey there Sunshine”. No, I don’t have a lot of romance in my life, but I tend to call people sunshine, so when a random, handsome stranger took my by the elbow… Sadly, I was shy and the woman I was with was impatient. Sigh… what might have been.
you are beautiful just the way you are!
My husband said to me during our vows, that I was precious! It was so perfect, sweet and simple! I love that word, it went on to say that I was a blessing… which as soon as he said that I did a little shimmy move and laughed… and everyone starting laughing at me. That was some of the sweetest and unique things he had ever said to me!
I have always told my husband not to buy me flowers because I can’t stand the thought of spending money on something that will die so soon. For valentine’s day, he bought me a big gorgeous bouquet with a card that said, “You are worth it”. sigh.
Very shortly after I first started dating my boyfriend, I got very very sick. For several weeks I was stuck at home, feeling (and of course looking) horrible. But he would still come by and bring me food and hang out with me. One day when I was feeling a bit better, I told him I was surprised that he’d been so brave to want to stick around with me while I was so sick, and while I looked so retched. He said, “Sick or not sick, I still love being with you!”. I knew then he was definitely a keeper!
“I never love you less, I always love you more.”
So this question made me go back in to my old saved messages from when my husband and I first were dating . . . and this quote just amazed me (especially since we had been dating about 3 months at the time). “you
take my breath away when I think about you”
My boyfriend told me, “You are my best friend and always will be.” So sweet because we started out as friends and that’s what made our relationship so special!!
“Will you marry me?”
Every time my husband says “I love you!” is the most romantical thing to me! I love to be told that he loves me!
My husband tells me he loves me every day (which I love!), but this year for Valentine’s he surprised me with flowers with a card that said, “Happy Valentine’s, Meag! I love you.” It was even sweeter that he had ordered the flowers about a month early (he is not a planner) and had chosen an arrangement with daisies, my favorite flower, so I know he was listening when I mentioned that I prefer daisies to roses. He’s such a sweetie!!
“Olive Juice”
I did nothing with my heart for 22 years, and then you came in and made it grow.
A few months after we started dating, we were chatting, and he was telling me about his work and school stress. Then he said, “But being around you feels nice.” It was a lovely compliment from a terribly unemotional guy, and although we have gone our separate ways, it is nice to know that I made a difference to someone.
My hubby tells me often that he doesn’t know what his life would be without me and that he feels that it was fate that we met. He does make me feel very important all the time and always treats me with a lot of respect.
My boyfriend of one year is in art school with me and doesn’t often give me gifts. For Christmas this year he spent several Sundays working on making a silver tree necklace for me by hand. It was the most thoughtful and special thing anyone has ever done for me and he kept it a secret from me for 2 months while he was working on it. When he gave it to me he didnt even tell me at first that he had made it because he just wanted me to appreciate it for what it was and not take credit. I found out later and was very touched and happy!
The most romantic thing ever said to me was, “You are precious!” Just that simple statement made me feel so loved and beautiful!
You are worth it.
“You go take a nap, and I’ll call you when dinner is ready.”
In 8th grade, my boyfriend wrote me a poem about how I was as unique and one-of-a-kind as a snowflake. I love winter and snow and, at that time, still slept with a polar bear stuffed animal named Snowflake that I had received my first Christmas. The poem showed his affection and knowledge of me! I ended up marrying the guy (eleven years later)!!
My now-husband wrote me a song and played it on the guitar and sang it to me when he proposed – he later recorded it so I could walk down the aisle to my song – “Celia, My Angel”
my babe just told me that I was never more beautiful than I am tonight – no make-up and not looking too hot, but he’s sweet
” i knew you would be m girl friend from when i first met you” my amazingg boyfriend
PS i love reading everyones -it makes me happy!
That I was the beginning and end of everyday. How wonderful to that to someone!
An Italian boyfriend once told me… “Come ti vidi, mi inammorai, e tu perche lo sai” (When I saw you, I fell in love… and you smiled because you knew). *Swoon*!
My boyfriend left me a note when he went out before dawn to go fishing one morning. It said:
“I love you more than:
BBQ
Bacon
Whiskey
Whiskey smoked bacon
BBQ’d bacon
Cheese
Mayo
Socks.
If my love for you was a number between 0 and a big ass number it would be about 2.6 times bigger than the upper bounding number of the aforementioned love scale.”
How sweet and honest is that??? I loved it SO much that I IMMEDIATELY scanned it and had to share! You can see it here:

Before my boyfriend and I were “officially” dating, he went on a trip to Africa where he would not be able to call or email. He wrote me a handwritten letter declaring his intentions all the way from Africa. He even sent a recording of himself reading the letter so it would be more like what you see in the movies when the girl gets a letter then you hear the guy reading it.
Talk about swoon…
Will you?
to date, it would be when my fiance was proposing and told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. nothing is as romantic as that pledge.
My husband’s initial contact with me was via email. We were in graduate school together, but had never met. In the email – he said I had the most beautiful smile. He had me then, hook-line-and sinker. :)
I am ten years younger than my boyfriend. He had been unhappily married and divorced long before we met. The other day I was reminiscing about high school and asked him if he would ever go back. He replied, “If I knew everything I knew now.” I responded “What does that even mean…people say it all the time but don’t know what they mean.” He responded looking at me adoringly, “I would go back and look for you…” Man gotta love that man :)
“Babe- Life is sweeter with my butt next to your butt.” A note my huband wrote to me and dropped in my lap after having been slip apart to sit in different rows on the airplane. Love that man!
“I’m so looking forward to growing old with you”. Said by my sweet husband.
He said, don’t ever change.
“You are the first woman who has made me think about marriage and having a family”
“you are my forever”
I said, “How much do you love me?”
He said, “All of it.”
wow! I love reading those comments .. for me was the 1st “I <3 u"
My high school boyfriend was devasted when I went off to college 400 miles away while he stayed behind to run his father’s machine shop. For a going away present, he made me a book out of duct tape and a Led Zeppelin album cover. Inside he made collages cut from magazines and wrote all the things he loved about me and his hopes for our future together. After reading it, I understood his feelings for me more than ever I did in the four years we dated. When I saw this question I knew I had to answer…but first I ran to the closet to grab it and take a stroll down memory lane.
