POLLI
The creative side of me admires those who find a way to use materials in nontraditional ways. The ability to see potential beyond an object’s intended use is the hallmark of a true artist. This season I’ve been amazed by dresses made out of sandpaper and astounded by “leather” pants made of trash bags on Project Runway. Being creative in this way is often the result of exploring many artistic paths and allowing these paths to converge in a new and exciting way.
Industrial design graduates Maja Rose and Tess Lloyd embarked on professional roles but after a few years began to desire a project they could create themselves by hand. Combining their interest in sustainable design, craft culture and fashion Rose and Lloyd founded Polli. They developed their line using techniques normally applied only to industrial products. Polli’s stainless steel jewelry contradicts the typical use of the material, seeming so delicate and airy while expressing their love for light and color. Pendants, earrings, brooches and cufflinks are all influenced by Japanese and Danish paper designs. Like the budding designers on my guilty pleasure (Project Runway) these ladies have seen beyond the ordinary and turned humble materials into the extraordinary.

I love the love garden mirror, it would look great in my daughters room.
I’m all about the Bolly earrings in Polli red — there’s something simultaneously mod and playful about these earrings. I’d love to make them a statement piece with a toned-down outfit for a fun night out.
I love the Camellia necklace. It reminds me of a lovely fresh flower bouquet. Such a unique piece, but simple enough to become a staple in my jewelry wardrobe!
I love the babushka pendant. It such a sweet design and definitely not something that everyone has…yet! I also like the balance it strikes between detail and simplicity.
I love the SS Penny Pendant. So unique and fun!
OH! The Woven Jasmine Necklace in rainbow. It’s such a beautiful piece and I know it would be a conversation starter. I’d making all sorts of friends because women would be stopping me in the streets asking “where did you get that amazing necklace?”. I might as well carry around with me a stack of Polli business cards.
I love the SS Terrace set. The detail is gorgeous and both as earrings and a pendant it really stands out.
The Kohl Gold Penny Pendant. I used to be an avid cyclist and this reminds me of it. It’s charming and still feminine. Not as modern or masculine as some of the bikechain jewelery is.
I love the stainless steel silver Seahorse Pendant!!! I love seahorses, and have ever since I was a child. I even have a secret blue seahorse tattoo on my right wrist. Its not really secret, but I wear bracelets everyday, so really I only know its there. I love your seahorse design..had I seen it before I got my tattoo, I might have contacted you and asked permission to use your beautiful design.
The Sari earrings and cufflinks! They would fit in perfectly with my Indian-inspired wedding which features a paisley motif!
their brooches are wonderfully perfect to place on my headscarf and add some beauty
The woven dragonfly earrings! The shape is so unlike anything I’ve seen before in an earring. I can’t decide between the green or the green & blue combo, though…
SS Rose Bud Pendant! That is ADORABLE. I think that the airiness of the piece and the delicate details would work with my style. Beautiful job!

because it would be a perfect gift for me!
I loved the Camellia Necklace. I loved the design and the abstracted lines that was used to form the flowers.
the SS Penny Pendant. Seriously??? Rocking my FACE OFF!
Oh, the SS Lady Beetle Necklace is so darling! A reminder of what’s to come … spring! I love it!
I simply adore the Rose Bud Pendant in polli red. I love it because it’s fun and fabulous. I love it because it is made up of red rosebuds – which remind me of all there is to love in the world. I love it because it was inspired by bushwalks in Tasmania … a place I do so hope to visit one day!
I love the stainless penny farthing pendant and the Dixie bulldog. So cute!
I love the Owl and the Pussycat pendant. It’s one of my favorite poems from childhood and the piece is so unique and fun!
I’m loving the SS Sapling earrings! perfect with skinny jeans, mocs and a basic v-neck tee.
I love the Grain Earrings! Very natural, repetitive look and pattern, (even though they are stainless steel…). Such terrific jewelry!
The earrings are to die for…..total DIVA!
I love the SS Lyrebird Pendant because it reminds me of a Peacock Christmas ornament that my mom gave me when I was a little girl. She sent it to me a couple of years ago so that I could hang it on my own tree. It’s so beautiful and delicate and it would be lovely to have a similar bird to hang from my neck all year long.
The Coral Branch Jewelry Stand. I was just trying to figure out a nice way to hold and display my jewelry and there it is. It’s perfect!
I work with wood, and love the Grain Brooch in red. It’s simplicity is beautiful.
It’s hard to choose but I love the SS Macky. It looks just like my kitten Punky and part of the proceeds go to such a good cause!
I love the Owl and the Pussycat, it was a childhood favorite
I love the mobiles – they’re beautiful.
Gosh I love them all! I’m really into wearing red so I think I would choose a gloss colour piece from the limited edition section
My wife has been eyeing off the magnolia necklace, if I win it I’d definately be in the good books!
I am in LOVE with the Tandem necklace, that little doggie in the basket is just too cute!
I like the fin mirror, it would be perfect for our bathroom.
I love the Good Luck necklace – I would love some good luck!
The Lucky coin is great, it reminds me of a Chinese coin I was given as a child
The Penny are so much fun and so vintage
I am in love with the Tea Party, and just saw Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Perfect match!
I think my favorite is the Hearts Bloom, it is really sweet
The Flock necklace (with lots of them) is so pretty and it looks like the birds are in flight
Are we supposed to be able to pick just one??? These are absolutely amazing pieces of jewelry, and after much deliberation I will have to go with the stainless steel bow necklace as my favorite. It’s so sweet and feminine, and it feels like something that might have been worn in centuries past, even though they probably didn’t wear jewlery like that.
my favorite piece is the “ss grain earrings.” they are different. like me.
The woven camellia earrings in autumn are my favourite because they can brighten up my winter wardrobe!
My favorite piece is the fractal eco clock. I love that it’s made from something that would otherwise have been discarded. It’s simple, modern and clean. Reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright.
I think the SS Grain Necklace is a work of art. I love the pattern, and the way it looks with the wearer’s skin showing through is fantastic. It’s somehow bold and understated at the same time, which sounds contradictory but is apparently actually possible. It makes you look twice, is I guess what I’m trying to say.
the ss art deco design is lovely. personally, i think it resembles lotus flowers….that’s what i see when i look at it. the lotus has a deeper meaning for me, reminding me of my daughter – who was lotus born.
beautiful jewelry = beautiful memory
……and makes for a great heirloom, and memory, to pass on…
i totally dig it!
So many lovely pieces however my absolute favourite is the necklace with the three babushka dolls. It is so special as it reminds me of three precious girls in my family – my mum, my sister and I.
The succulent earrings in both SS & gold are ah-mazing! I love how delicate & detailed they are. Such a soft shape- love them!!
I love the woven jasmine pendant – it’s absolutely stunning! Can’t decide which colour I like the best though…
I love the gold ‘Flock’ necklace because of its whimsy and playfulness. It could be worn during day or night and would certainly be a conversation-starter.
I love the Elm brooch. It reaches to my heart as it looks very similar to the tree we chose to have etched into our baby boy’s gravestone. I would love to wear it over my heart as a gentle reminder of our sweet little boy and the precious time we had with him.
