DAVIE AND CHIYO

If anyone knows anything about me it’s that I always want to own something that nobody else has, be the first and only to sport said article be it clothes or accessories. I try very hard to never walk out and have the girl standing next to me at Starbuck’s wearing anything remotely similar. I have no idea how this personality quirk developed or why but I do have to say it often hinders my blogging abilities because I am 2 parts thrilled to introduce you to new things and 1 part selfish and don’t want to share my sources with you. There will be readers that will completely understand my dilemma and for them this post is for you.
Sisters Fumi and Himi Bull of Davie & Chiyo create couture clutches meaning you will never have to stress over whether your bestie will walk into the restaurant with your new favorite accessory (or worse your frenemy). The Bull sisters started their company as a hobby which quickly grew into a thriving business. Somewhere in the middle of all the chaos both of them fell completely in love with clutches (I can completely relate) and have not looked back yet.
The use of high quality materials and attention to detail ensures the excellence of each product. Their ability to create new designs and customize products on a weekly basis, provides their secret to success (shhh I wasn’t the one to let the cat out of the ur, bag). The sisters strive to provide the perfect clutch for the wants and needs of every Davie & Chiyo client. Through constant experimentation with new fabrics, new styles, and a relentless quest to be different, Himi and Fumi have provided accessory fiends the world over with a brand as unique as they are.
One lucky winner will win a custom designed clutch from Davie and Chiyo–that means you can come up with your own design, and they might even feature it in their shop! For your chance to win answer the following question by Thursday, April 1, 2010:
If you won, what would you like your custom clutch to look like?
Please begin checking the winner’s box on April 7, 2010 to see if you’ve won. Good luck!

feminine…. possibly floralish… and a big bow!
First of all, I’m a HUGE fan of your work!!! I always feel a strong sense of Canadian pride when I see Canadian designers doing such fantastic work, and you ladies are definitely a prime example.
On to business… If I won, I’d want my clutch to be in the ‘All about a BOW’ style in Fuchsia 100% dupioni silk. The inner lining would be 100% dupioni silk in Midnight Black (knowing me, this is necessary to hide any lipstick stains and pen marks that might unfortunately scuff up my clutch upon so much use… and trust me, if I win I will use it a LOT!) The frame would be shiny nickel with no chain necessary. There would be a rectangular label stitched on the inside similar to the Davie & Chiyo logo but in a very simple font, like Helvetica, with my favourite recurring Nine Inch Nails lyric written on it: “Nothing can stop me now.” I look to this line a lot (for example, it’s engraved on the back of my iPod) so it’d be nice to see it every time I reach into my clutch for something. I’m currently in the process of writing my first novel, and every time I listen to NIN and hear this line I remind myself that nothing will stop me from finishing my book and getting it out there for the world to read.
The thought of such a beautiful clutch makes me giddy! I’ll definitely be sending you a pic of a very happy me with your clutch in hand if I’m lucky enough to win :)
It would be a bold color with a fun shape.
For spring, I’d love a cream colored clutch with a totally oversized gargantuan flower on its front…. it would go perfect with each outfit!!!
Fabulous silver/grey Duponi silk with a gorgeous colorful flower on the outside. Viola!
It would have to have a flower-preferably hydrangea
I hope it’s not too late! I would love my custom clutch to be made of natural linen, with asymmetrical pink ruffles. I love ruffles!

I love to work with wood, and I spend most of my working hours in a woodshop, but I also have a very feminine side. I wear dresses, and carry clutch purses when not at work, and I would love to be able to carry a bit of my day job into my night life with a wood theme clutch: possibly Joel Dewberry wood grain fabric with a snap. Simplicity is good for me.
Hot pink and ruffly, of course!
something bright yellow with a big bow or maybe even ruffles
Something soft, wheat colored with Posie Red would be perfect. This Kansas girl needs something beautiful!
I would love to have an ultra feminine, yet cheery clutch. I would graciously request a deep berry purple silk fabric with a bright yellow flower to add a sunny pop!
A kusudama flower ball in vintage mono-color paper fabric set against a silk black background – it would be awesome to see how this can be incorporated into a feminine couture clutch!
