{ please vist ira grant eco here }

As much as I’d like to be the ultimate eco-friendly, earth-saving type of person, I’m not. I recycle, try to reuse things when possible and conserve as much energy as I can but at the end of the day I’m not going to win any awards. Ira Grante also understands the need to make small, maintainable changes that will help Mother Earth.

Scraps of fabrics from her projects don’t go in the trash–what a waste that would be! Instead she gives them life as fashionable handbags and totes and saves them from the landfill. All of the items in her new line are made with natural fibers, organic materials and/or remnants. Using these materials does not mean she compromises in style. Each of her bags is as beautiful as it is responsible. Shopping with independent crafters like Grante makes living a bit greener that much easier!

One lucky winner will receive a $70 gift certificate from Ira Grant . For your chance to win, answer the following question by August 2, 2010.
Ira has a cheeky question for you.. if you could only have one bag, what kind of bag would you keep and why?
Please begin checking the winners box on August 4, 2010 to see if you’ve won.  Good luck!

I would love a crossbody messenger in a nubby, neutral linen or unbleached cotton..versatile enough to span the seasons, big enough to hold my wallet + book + T pass + water bottle + snax, eco-friendly to save the hides off animals’ backs, and fun enough to be my reach-for bag Monday thru Friday and for the weekend!

I’d love a slouchy carry-all that can double as a pillow at a picnic.

I would keep my backpack. Nothing like being able to carry everything you need to survive with you!

    Sherry says:

It would have handles and a shoulder strap that I could unclip and hide.

    Julia R says:

I would definitely have a shoulder bag, some sort of leather tote that would adapt to all situations, from work to shopping to travel. My perfect bag.

A very very big size bag!

    Julia says:

A BIG shoulder bag, with plenty of pockets inside that zipped on the top, in a neutral color. You can’t go wrong! I love bags though, that would be such a sad situation!

a smallish diaper bag, that looks like a beautiful purse, not a diaper bag disguised as a purse.

    Ashley says:

Large, a flap or buckle to close the top and one outside pocket for keys and phone. Maybe even messenger style.

    Kerensa says:

I love big bags, so much my fiance would joke and say “its your luggage, not a purse” so I really think my would have to be unnecessarily big.

    Becca Lyn T says:

So many bags come to mind but I think I would have to keep my reusable grocery bags, that way I can save the Earth and some of them are pretty cute too!

    sew in bigger pockets!

    Shannon says:

Something durable that I could use for personal stuff as well as groceries, produce, purchases, carrying my lunch, camera, etc. An all-purpose piece, because if I could only have one, it had better be practical.

    Tammy W says:

Soft leather (because it wears well)…
    Any exterior color
    (preferably grasshopper green)…
Lined in a bright color (because I can’t see anything when the lining is dark)…
East West (because nothing falls to the bottom & things are easy to find)…Pocket on the outside (to carry my cell phone for easy access)
