BLU HOUR
Every day there is a little pocket of time where the world seems so perfect. A glorious glow is cast from the golden sun and for about an hour, time seems to pass a bit slower. The trials of the day are behind you and the few hours before slumber lie opportunely before you. This most splendid time draws the fine line between afternoon and evening as the sun and moon tango in the sky. Deemed the “Blu Hour” by Brooke Scott these brief moments inspire the jewelry in her shop by the same name.
Whisper thin silver chains dance delicately with hammered bows forming an ideal balance between precious and bold. Simple silver hoops are brushed to offer a rugged elegance. Sweetheart earrings are romantic without being hokey. Each piece she crafts seems to dance along the border of styles for a completely unique and beautiful look. This leaves me to believe that when wearing one of said lovelies you are carrying a bit of of that perfection with you…extending the Blu Hour beyond its usual sixty minutes. And if that is truly the case, I may start wearing a necklace or set of earrings of Scott’s 24/7!

FIrst i have to say, that bow necklace is so lovely.
I’m looking forward to visiting Montreal, I hear it’s close to a European feel, and I’ve never been to Canada.
travelling anywhere on a train always gets my mind working. we recently travelled to scotland all by train and it was great! i’d like to go somewhere warm and bright soon – india? vietnam? peru? i’ll have to see which of these places have rail transit :)
I’d want to go to Sweden. I think the landscape couldn’t help but inspire.
India! I want to see all those lovely jewels and beautiful brightly colored saris in person – and get inspired to keep things bright and lively!
I’m inspired by relationships, old architecture, and nature. I would love to go to some of the famous vacation countries, but instead of going to the big cities I’d visit the small villages, meet the people, and get ideas from the old homes, the people I meet, etc.
I would love to go to Mexico for inspiration. The colors, the food, the art…it all is so amazing! Plus the people have had a hard few years, but continue onwards. I think that is wonderfully inspiring in itself.
As an opera singer, I’d like to travel back in time. I want to feel the sights and sounds of the worlds I try to create on stage. I want to hear the voices from ages past, the voices that gave birth to my passion. I want to feel the social climate in which they lived, the politics they endured and fought for. I can feel it in the music, but traveling to the beginning, to the inception of composition, that’s where I’d like to be.
To Patagonia, where I would be surrounded by so many varying environments, colors, sights, and sounds. It’s where I would be reminded of the strength and beauty of Mother Nature.
i would love to conduct an experiment and travel to two places in the world:
1. india – india is like a beautifully woven tapestry made by the threads of colourful fabrics, rich textures, and aromatic spices.
and in stark contrast,
2. arctic – pure white canvases everywhere you turn will no doubt encourage my creative mind to paint imaginative inspirations. the aurora borealis will just the icing and cherry.
That bow necklace is to die for!!
My family is originally from the east coast of Canada, but I was born and raised on the west coast, so I’ve never been. They have such a rich culture back east and from what I’ve seen from pictures, the landscape is spectacular (and not to mention those cute little coloured houses.) A perfect place to get inspired I think.
I’ve never been to Thailand/SE Asia area. It’s the one place in the world I’ve always wanted to go. I’ve seen amazing cultural photography & food from there! It’s so colorful and full of life, I’d love to get some great photography and recipes from there!
I like to travel to Paris, and visit those traditional shops with flower decorations everywhere, it really gives the neat, simple and pleasant feeling of life.
I’d like to take a long walk through the countryside of England :)
Patagonia. I love to hike and the scenery looks so spectacular. There are so few places in the world that are still pristine and we need to preserve them by responsible touring. I have never been to South America and this would be a great trip. The starkness and lonely vistas are actually very inspiring for touching the inner self which connects to this wonderful world.
I would absolutely love to go explore Turkey. The architecture, design, colors, environment all looks so enticing! The crossroads of so many ancient civilizations and cultures makes Turkey such a unique and beautiful place – it would be such an inspiring experience to take a trip there!
The Mediterranean would be so inspirational! I mean, have you read Hemingway’s stories that are set there? But in contrast, I live in the Adirondacks and find inspiration here everyday!
Anywhere really! Even my upcoming 18 hour drive to Wyoming seems like an adventure. But I think I’d choose Thailand or Bali over WY. ;)
I would love to travel to Florence, Italy!
any capitol city! i love state capitols. they have such a great “civil pride” sort of feeling to them. capitol buildings with big domes and streets lined with neo-classical buildings. yay!!
I’d love to travel to Australia and explore the sandy beaches.
I’d like to go to Italy and see the works of the Italian masters.
Moscow and St. Petersburg, or anywhere on the Baltic Sea like Latvia or Estonia. There is so much history and beauty there that is untapped.
Anywhere…and everywhere! It’s cliche to say (but true)…it’s much more about the journey than the destination. I love finding inspiration in unusual places – often times I find the best inspiration in my own backyard.
Overseas. I love the history that they have and the beauty that is there I know could be oh so inspiring.
I would like to travel to Tahiti for inspiration. Between all the lush greenery and beautiful beaches, I am sure I could come up with plenty of great ideas.
As a film editor, I’d love to travel to Paris, Seoul, and Brazil for inspiration from the film epicenters of Europe, Asia, and South America.
I’ve always dreamed of going to Scotland. My favorite series of books is based there, and they’re so inspiring. The countryside is just so beautiful and green as far as the eye can see. I feel like anything can happen there…
I was in love with a boy who moved to London, and when he left we made teary promises to meet again abroad. I imagine when and if I make that trip to visit, I will be greatly inspired by the joy of reunion and the sorrow of what I have lost.
I’ve always wanted to travel to Egypt and sail down the Nile. Being in one of the most ancient countries, taking in the sites, sounds and sailing on the river that has wound through the reeds there for hundreds and hundreds of years would be magical and transforming.
Everywhere. Is that okay?
Italy. The people are so warm and friendly. The ocean is inviting and calm.
I know every time I go to England, I am so recharged. Mind, body, and spirit all seem to get back in synch with a few walks on the west coast.
The country side anywhere in Italy! The photos always look so colorful and old fashioned!
The Maldives. Aqua, tangerine, coral, emerald – what a color palette!
Vienna, Austria. Many masters of music lived there, and I would love to add the cadence of my footsteps to the streets where they walked.
I’d love to travel somewhere with ancient ruins, Asia or South America, I think. I’d love to walk through a thick jungle and come across the crumbling remains of a city long gone. I can’t imagine anything more inspiring than imaging the lives of the people who built it.
Greece! More specifically Santorini – the colors and the water … how can it not inspire?!
the middle east, by boat. I think I’ve seen my fair share of culture from east to west, but (most) middle eastern cultures seem so different from the rest of the world, it;s almost as if they live in this different era, an almost completely different world! i think it would be great to experience that first hand.
tahiti might just do the trick
Italy, the structures of the buildings and the history just screams inspiration
Everytime someone asks me where I want to travel 2 things pop into my mind:
1) Back in time to the 30’s where I could meet all my favorite movies stars
2) the top of the Empire State Building so I could look down and imagine I am Cary Grant waiting for my love to meet me… I am a huge nerd!
New Zealand a wonderous view of unending fields of flowers a photographers dream
I’d like to travel over parts of France via hot-air balloon. That sounds grand!
I would love to spend more time in France. I love the Parisian roof lines and scrolling iron work.
I’ve always wanted to go to Morocco to study the fantastic tilework.
Morocco!
