FLOURISH BATH & BODY
{please visit flourish bath & body here}
The greatest thing that has come out of The Bright Side Project (besides of course the many smiles it produces) is that I can always find someone that has an equally as unique idiosyncrasy as myself, in doing so the world seems just that much smaller and I like that feeling. I found today’s contributor Flourish Bath & Body on my quest for exfoliation, like my cave predecessors that searched for fire, my desire to exfoliate is both innate and all consuming–I need my skin to be fresh, smooth and soft as a babies bum. I don’t ask for much but this I demand.
Brooke Marton the creator of Flourish Bath & Body has the same desire only she has taken it to the nth degree and then some. Flourish is the manifestation of her desire to find the perfect scrub; one that didn’t leave an oil slick on either the bottom of the tub or um, your bottom. After many moons in her ‘lab’ she created her signature sugar cube scrub which is as aesthetically pleasing as it is pragmatic. The little cubes can be toted in the shower or bath in the palm of your hand without resorting to clumsy, unwieldy jars or tubes and you get a perfect amount of scrub every time. I say genius, you? After conquering the ’scrub-o-sphere’ Marton went on to tackle bubbling milk baths, perfect lip balms and sublime soaps of which I want to try each and every last product. Lucky for you that you aren’t moi because you lucky lady (lad?) have the opportunity to do just that…
Brooke Marton is generously giving away to one winner-One of her signature sugar scrubs, one bubbling milk bath, one soap and two lip blams, fragrance is winners choice. In order to win, please answer the following question by Sunday, August 2, 2009.
What beauty product or beauty regime could you not live without (or at the very least would make you super grumpy if you couldn’t have it or do it)?
Please start checking the winner’s box on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 to see if you won. Good Luck!

I would say washing my hair. If I couldn’t wash my hair after a few days, I would be pretty darn upset. My hair is thick and on the oily side. About a week without washing my hair would be very evident, from about a block away. My hair would be extra, extra shiny, as in greasy looking, and extremely flat. It would be unattractive to look at, to say the least. And not to be gross, but it would probably start to smell very unpleasant, especially since it would start to pick up odors easily.
I think that matted mess of hair on my head would drive away a lot of folks.
Pond’s cold cream – I’ve used it ever since I started wearing makeup as a teen, because that’s what my mom used. It removes eye makeup like a dream, and I panic when I forget to pack it when traveling, because everything else just burns. And I hate looking like I still have yesterday’s makeup on.
I will make a very basic and obvious choice: My toothbrush (and toothpaste) and, most importantly, water. Yes, I view water as a beauty product. Drinking a lot and being able to wash myself at least once a day – if possible more often – is an absolute must; I couldn’t feel beautiful if I didn’t have access to enough water, if I couldn’t wash my face and hands, couldn’t shower, couldn’t brush my teeth, even if I had all other beauty products in the world.
If I went with a more ‘luxurious’, secondary product: I am absolutely addicted to soaps and bubble baths and wouldn’t want to live without that. I can spend hours and hours in soap shops – I love the variety of scents and colours. I believe that there are only a few things that are as refreshing and inspiring as a nice shower with good-smelling shampoo or a long, hot bath with bubble bath (I am a part-time writer and I swear I get the best ideas lying around in bed or in the bathtub).
I couldn’t do without face wash. I’m a little picky about which one, but I need to wash my face two times a day or I get really grumpy. This is why I could never be a mountain climber or hard core backpacking traveler: I’d be tempted to use precious drinking water just to wash my face! And then I’d probably get murdered by my backpacking companions, or left alone without water in the wilderness. And then I’d get attacked and killed by wild boars or hyenas.
So really, it’s much safer for me to stay in civilization, close to plumbing. And with an ample supply of face wash.
Cetaphil. If they ever stop making it just kill me. I am assuming brushing your teeth falls under hygiene, and perhaps so does face washing, but come on, a dirty face is like painting on a used palette.
lip balm. I used it many times a day, every day.
I’d have to go with a masque. Granted, I don’t beauty up as much as I should, but when I do, I’ve got to have a facial with some sort of masque.
I love anything that sounds “gourmet.” I can’t live without products that make me feel special-be it lip balm or body scrub, give me something extra ordinary.
Eyelash curler and mascara. For some reason, I love how using them makes my eyes open up and more awake. Also it makes me feel pretty with a side of eyeshadow.
Eyelash curler and mascara. I love how putting it on automatically makes me feel awake and alert to the people around me. Plus I feel pretty with a side of eyeshadow.
Massages! So beneficial in so many ways… could not live without them!
I guess I am addicted to hennaing my hair :) (I hope the freshly-coined verb is still understandable)
It’s like soaking some sunshine into it. Plus, it is super healthy and doesn’t do your hair any harm. Plus, it is ultimately cheap – I get my henna fix for as little as € 1,49 at the Turkish shop next door (plus some free compliments the morning after – by Ahmed, Muhammed, Ali and Mehmmet :)
Henna tends to leave your hair in a while so there’s also no need to wait years and years for all that hair to grow to get back to the roots/your original colour.
Get hennaed, ladies!
Peppermint castile soap…..
korres quince lip butter…. it’s tinted, velvety smooth and fresh on the lips and cheeks!
