Today’s DIY came about out of necessity. My key holder fell off the wall and a corner cracked and I started thinking about ideas for something new. I went outside, grabbed a branch from the neighborhood (we have a lot of old, large trees on our street) and grabbed some yarn out of the craft closet. A few hooks and some hot glue and we had a crafty afternoon on our hands! These are my favorite kind of DIY projects: simple, fashioned out of items on hand, and quick enough to accomplish in the same amount of time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.
Here are the supplies:
yarn, glue gun, branch, hooks
Stick a dot of hot glue on the back side of the branch that will hang against the wall and wrap yarn around the stick. This is where you get to be creative. Use whatever colors you want, cover as much or as little as you want. Add some paint. Or some washi tape. Make it yours!
My five year old daughter brought me this gold card part way through and told me it MUST be included. And so it was.
I ended up using a nail and hammer to tap a hole into the branch where I wanted the hooks to go and then screwed them in. It made it much easier for me.
Tie some yarn to the ends and hang! Voila! New key holder.
What other ways would you use this branch? Jewelry hanger? Let us know if you have some ideas!
