{please visit aeropagita prints here}

Art is subjective, personal, emotional. It moves us, makes us think, reflects our inner selves. . It is the jewelry of our home and we put it on our walls because it means something. In honor of this month’s theme, Adorn, we are so excited to bring you some of the most joyful artwork we have encountered. Because we wouldn’t really be The Bright Side Project if we didn’t  focus on the joy!

Mishel Valenton was in a bit of melancholic state and made the conscious choice to write a new story by creating Aeropagita Prints.  “I felt I had to change something in what I was doing so I decided to create my idea of joy instead.” These prints combine Valenton’s painting and sculpting background with technology to create vibrant and colorful pieces of art. Perosonally, I am inexplicably drawn to the Radiate print. This print embodies joy in a way I’m not sure words can do justice. Peek around the shop. Find your joy. Then adorn your walls with it.

Aeropagita Prints is giving away a $100 gift certificate to the shop to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question by Tuesday, May 29th. Comment’s now closed…Good luck!

    Putting my 4 month old daughter to bed at night. We enjoy some bath time (she’s like a fish!), lotion her up so she smells even more delicious, and then I nurse her to sleep as I snuggle her. It’s a time where we bond and it’s one of the most treasured moments of my day that brings heaps of joy.

    When I change my (20mo) daughter into her clothes and she gives me a wee exhausted hug, and pats my back, as if to say “It’s hard work for me too, but you did a good job *pat pat pat*” She is my pride and joy- but the little things like this always give me the “melty” feeling inside. Oh and seeing her wee angel face asleep at the end of the day 😉

    Mine is a fairly new part of my routine (since it was my New Year’s Resolution), but I found that I love putting lipstick on in the morning. I feel so girly and even a little French. I then love transferring that lipstick to my fiancé’s cheek when I kiss him goodbye before heading off to work.

    My morning cup of tea is my favorite small task of the day. A quiet moment to gather my thoughts and prepare myself for a busy day at work. However, now that the temperatures are heating up, I will soon have to switch to iced tea, which I’ll enjoy making the night before to chill in the fridge overnight.

    The small task that brings me the most joy is preparing my family’s lunches for the next day. In the evening, after we have made, devoured & cleaned up dinner, before the kiddos go to bed, I get all of our lunches ready & in the fridge. It’s a nice time of day b/c I know it’s my last chore & I’m taking care of my babes. Not every day, but occasionally, I’ll slip in a love note to one of them to make them feel special. Knowing I’m caring for my family and bringing them joy & knowing that I’m almost done for another day brings me joy!

Years of good mailing etiquette have yielded great returns– now my friends like to mail me lovely things, too!

    Many small daily tasks bring me copious amounts of joy, but if I have to pick only one, it would be making the bed. When the crumpled up, disheveled sheets get shaken out and patted down smoothly, the crooked pillows get plumped up and encouraged back into their original shape, the covers get tossed on elegantly and the stuffed polar bear regains his seat in the middle of the bed – – then my heart feels super happy!

    I like making my husband a cup of tea at night. It’s the very least I can do, since he does all the cooking! Seriously, though, it makes me feel very nurturing to do this simple thing for me. And it lets him know I care.

    Kate B says:

    I really enjoy doing the dishes. It feels like such an accomplishment to defeat a pile of dirty plates and pans and turn our kitchen into a sparkling, warm lovely environment again. My mother, of course, would laugh very hard to hear how much I enjoy it, given my reluctance to help out growing up, but now I take a very specific pride in restoring our kitchen to its rightful order. Sorry, Mom, but at least I am always willing to pitch in when I visit home now!

We  connect, and talk about our day..what was the best thing that happened….what was the worst.. My 3 yo son has just discovered the pleasures of having a shower all by himself (supervised, of course). It is so much fun to watch him push back his fears of having water on his face (no more screaming, no more concerned neighbors – thank goodness!), or trying to reach inaccessible places without wetting me in the bargain. He also gets lessons in water conservation at the same time and it is endearing to watch him take it all in (the lessons, not the water 🙂
