{please visit AHC here}

When I was a little girl, I used to think that my grandmother’s jewelry box held the secrets of what it meant to be an adult, a woman. My play with these items was limited and guarded and it lent an air of seriousness to the task. I always felt as though I was doing something incredibly important when I touched each piece. As I got older, I found that I still hold the same reverence for treasures of any kind. I find myself in awe of other’s jewelry boxes, tchotchkes, keepsakes. I find that the jewelry we hold onto says a lot about how we view the world, how we relate to beauty. A good life is full of treasure, after all.

Debbie Carlos’ shop AHC is chock full of the sorts of treasures you tuck away for future generations to gaze upon. Gorgeously understated and yet completely unique and colorful, each of these pieces speak of a well tended life. From the astoundingly beautiful gold dipped jade rings to the whimsical Wood Marble, Brass Bracelet, this is the type of jewelry you tell your grandchildren stories about. Jewelry with a story? That, my friends, is what the good life is all about.

AHC is giving away three gifts to three different winners! One will receive the Red Necklace, one will receive the Exchange necklace, and one will receive the Pendulum necklace. To enter to win, please answer the following question by Wednesday, July 18th. Comments now closed…good luck!

    If I were not a teacher of writing, I would probably be a writer myself! They say “Those that cannot do, teach,” but in reality: Those who teach cannot do because they have far too much grading to catch up on and must be up very early tomorrow.

    As a kid, I always dreamed of being a medical Dr.– an OB/GYN specifically, which apparently was an unusual career goal for a 9-yr-old? I am just embarking on a career in a different medical field, but I’m not so sure ten years won’t find me in med schoool, after all.

    Since this contest is about dreaming big, I guess I would move to a far way place. A rain forest, mountain village, an island out of nowhere perhaps, to study the wildlife and people, etc. Simply to explore the Earths secrets.
