Australian Found Wood Necklace - cotton - by Alchemy

As we continue to focus on our “Abundant Creativity” this month, let’s not forget to look at the flip side of the same coin. While the idea of abundance seems to imply a sense of more than enough or too much, I like to think that it merely points to having just enough. There is something inherently simple about abundance. Perhaps I’m waxing philosophic (as well as enjoying a metaphor) but simple abundance is an idea I can stand behind.

Belinda Evans is the artist and designer behind Alchemy, an online shop of beautiful textiles, jewelry, and aromatherapy products that focuses on simple, sustainable living and practice. Evans’ background in environmental sustainability education speaks to her simple and natural aesthetic and her work is the type that brings a breath of ease into your home. I am especially in love with these weavings and think every single one of them holds a specific piece of simple beauty that my home is missing. After all, any reminder to look at the simpler side of abundance is a good one.

“For all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.”
When I think of abundance, I think of the fact that everything in the world, is not something I’ve made. Even when I make things, the sources of them are beyond me! Even when I think, the ideas are from (often) from others!

Abundance to me is reality. It is the reality that there is so much in the world, and it is not from me (though I participate in it!)

Living where I do, on a working farm, abundance is the apple crop, the walnuts, the tomato yields, and the fact that we have all we can use and LOTS to share with others.  I feel rich to be able to use the harvest from the orchard and the gardens exuberantly and to never run out of more to share!  Abundance is also the natural resources–lots of land to work and lots of water from the well, lots of space, lots of fresh air!

I feel like abundance is a word that represents every aspect of my life right now.
I have an abundance of creativity, loved ones, adventure, work, and possibilities. Every day I’m reminded of the fullness of life, whether it’s because of time spent in the studio alone, playing with my cats, or being with my best friends.

For me, that Im currently so far away from home and living in another country, I guess abundance means to me, “life”, and the emotions that come with it. I think emotions are like air. There is not a moment that you can live without them ( otherwise is like being a living corp). By embracing and accepting what everything can make you feel, either pleasant or otherwise.  Is when everything connects and  when  you can perceive and relate to not only your truly self but to what surrounds you. I Guess, life is abundance in itself that never stops marvelling and filling me.

Abundance is one of my favorite words. If I’m ever down and take just a moment to contemplate abundance, I’m overwhelmed with joy and peace. Abundance blossoms all around me. In the natural world, I feel rejuvenated by the intricate and simple beauty of everything from a mountain range to a chestnut. In my body, I can move and run and dance and love others with no inhibition. In my family, my wild boys fill me with joy with their quiet smiles and raucous laughter. I feel like abundance is everywhere, it takes seeing eyes to behold it.
