{please visit Amanda Catherine Designs here}

Our home is filled with art. From a large, eclectic collection on our main living room wall to vignettes placed strategically throughout our home, our family is definitely reflected on our walls. I am a firm believer that art holds the power to heal and that surrounding yourself with artwork that speaks to you is one of the simplest ways to ensure living your best life. Trouble is, art is oftentimes financially restrictive.

Amanda Helmer’s Amanda Catherine Designs houses some of the most inspiring prints I have seen in a long time. From the impeccable typographic styling to the original and evocative design (this Geometric Collection is especially stunning!), these prints are destined to find a home in your permanent collection. Helmer creates art out of love and it shows in each well thought out piece and her overall aesthetic speaks of warm hearts and a life full of sunshine. AC Designs is also a proud partner with Love146, an organization dedicated to end child sex slavery and exploitation. Proceeds from every purchase are donated to their cause so you can feel good knowing that the sunshine on your walls also breathes life into a good deed. Talk about inspiration.

Amanda Catherine Designs is giving one winner their choice of two prints from the shop! (My two must havesare up there.) To enter to win, please answer the following question by Wednesday, June 20th.  Comments now closed…Good luck!

Jessminda! My real name is Jessica- but during the first week of college I watched Bend it Like Beckham with a group of girls from my dorm and I somehow was dubbed with the nickname ‘Jessminda’, as it was the main characters name.  That was almost 8 years ago and many of those girls are now my lifelong friends and still call me by that special name 🙂

ah yes I already have two of these pinned that I’ve been eyeing for my new digs.

    Lindsay says:

My family all call me variations of “Lu-lu”. I get Loobsy-lu, Lushka, Lu, Lindsay-lu, etc etc. I used to think it was embarrassing but now I think it’s sweet! I get the more tomboyish nic name “LV” (my initials) from all of my highschool friends whenever I come home. The funny thing is that nic-names can’t be made; they just appear out of nowhere and stick like glue! Resisting one only makes it stick all the more permanently 🙂

    Ella P. says:

My family & friends call me Bing-Bing. My Mom gave me that nickname.

    Shelby says:

My mom has always called me Shelbster – it sounds funny but it seems so endearing now that I’m older.

    Emma says:

Sadly, I do not have one – but if I could give myself one, it would be Rocket! I’ve always loved dogs and always been partial to the dog name Rocket, and thus, in honor of my childhood hero Indiana Jones who took his nickname from the family dog, I’d like to do the same. 🙂

    Sarah says:

My nickname came from somewhat of a collective effort. I’m Sarah, but as a youngster, my mom’s boss (& my best friend’s dad) always called me Sarah Jane. After becoming an adult, my co-worker (& eventual roommate & best of friends) started calling me Sadie rather than Sarah (after the Beatles’ song)… thus, I am now SADIE JANE!

wow would love to win the books one for my best friend! at the ripe old age of 17 i got the nickname “mummy” because i apparently nag my friends a lot to “take care” and “drink more water, eat more vitamin c”, “don’t run in the rain” etc. like their mothers :/

    Stella says:

Unfortunately, it was “Scab”. I was “punk rock” for my small Texas farm town and my my sister couldn’t say my first name well and it always sounded like “Scebska”. It just went from there. And yep my brother still calls me that.

  13. 13
    Aleta says:

My name is so short “Al” was the only option for shortening it when I was a kid. I love the nickname… my closest friends still call me Al after all these years!

  17. 17

A friend in school used to call me…’Demon’. A rather unfortunate name that stuck because he used to get pinched every time he misbehaved. High school days – glad those are over! * embarrassed*

  18. 18
    Loretta E. says:

My friends from high school call me alg because it’s easier than saying my initials, which is what it used to be. I love her prints, especially the one that says “you are my happily ever after”

  19. 19
    Lubaska says:

Lubaska. It is derived from my given name Lubica (name is Serbian or Croatian in origin) and I ve received my nickname from my Ukrainian friends as “ukrainian home variation” of this Slavic female name.

  20. 20
    Jenni says:

My name is Jennifer, but I’ve always been Jenny. When I got to high school I decided to change the way I spelled Jenny. There were just too many Jennys in my classes with the exact same name…so I decided to be “Jennie”. My junior year my very best friend Micah and I were discussing my name, and he decided that I wasn’t a “Jennie”, I was a “Jenni” so he began taking my papers away from me and erasing the “e”, So now I am Jenni, and it’s common for people to call me, “Jenni with an I”. 🙂

    echo says:

I was lucky to have a great last name, so mostly it was just that. Maybe with a “y” added at the end for the creative folk.

  22. 22
    Kristin says:

My nickname is pretty simple as it’s my middle name and all my family calls me by it. As simple as it is, it’s so endearing to me because I know they are the only subset of people in the world that calls me by that name and that means something special every time I hear it.

  23. 23
    Kellie says:

I’ve never had one! Most people just say Kel and a few in the past have said Kel Bel but never a true clever nickname.

  24. 24
    Kelley says:

My nickname is “Bean” or “Beanbod,” because my Dad says that when I was born, I was curled up into the shape of a bean.

  25. 25
    Rebekah says:

rebeck – it’s a combination of my first and last (married) name…my parents call me princess (which i dislike) ever since i played the part of a princess in a church theatre production.

  26. 26
    jenn fee (my nickname) says:

while it might not be an exact  “nick name” i have always been called by my full name: jenn fee.

only 2 syllabus but to the point.

    i love it.

  27. 27

  30. 30
    Kate W says:

Some of my friends call me KP, even though my initials are KW… it comes from the name my older sister called me to get on my nerves when we were little: Kathy Lee Pinkerton. Elegant, yes?

    suzi c says:

Miss Wiggins. Dad has always called me it and i have no idea why. i used to hate it but now i love it. Suppose it beats my girls nickname i give her – Fairnoosh.

    Kate B says:

My college roommate dubbed me “Sunshine” because between the two of us, I was comparably cheerful in the morning. Also, we had our clock radio set to an oldies station, so one morning “Walking on Sunshine” played us awake and I was up and dancing immediately. (Come on, how can you not? That song is infectious!) That same roommate spent her summers as part the singing trolley tour at Hershey Park. I went to visit her once and took the tour, and they sang “You Are My Sunshine” (one of their regular songs) and she beamed at me the whole time and it made me feel super-special. I don’t have a nickname that many other people call me, but to her, I’ll always be Sunshine!

  34. 34
    Kasey says:

My nickname is Weezie… I’ve had the nickname since I was a little kid. I think one of my cousins couldn’t say my name when he was little and it must’ve sounded like he said “weezie” when he said my name!

  35. 35
    Trish says:

Binks! 28 yrs old and to this day my fabulous family members still refer to me as “Binks” because I had to an extreme love for my “binky” or pacifier when I was a tot. 🙂

    Laurendy says:

Laurendy! I got the nickname in 5th grade when my teacher insisted on calling me Lauren D., even though I was the only Lauren in the entire 5th grade, let alone the class. It didn’t help matters that two of my best friends were Lauren N. & Lauren M. (different grade, different school) By the time Valentines Day rolled around all my classmate addressed my cards to “Laurendy” and the name just stuck.
