We’ve been thinking a lot about inspiration here at The Bright Side Project lately. Granted, we think about inspiration nonstop but this transition into spring has us especially focused. One of the surefire ways to be inspired is to get to know more about our contributors here at the BSP. Today’s contributor, for example, hit the nail on the head. “My inspiration comes from things that intrigue me and make me feel small in comparison.” says Audra Azoury. Reading that, it was as if someone suddenly turned on a light. Everything was brighter.

Audra Azoury creates handcrafted jewelry in her studio using inspiration and modern technology to express herself. Azoury’s eponymous line is full of architectural elements and strong, confident design. These are the kinds of pieces you wear to remind yourself how to stay inspired in a world that sometimes creates a challenge. This Morse Code Love Necklace is especially stunning and is a wonderfully non-flowery way to wear your heart on your sleeve. Audra Azoury has something for everyone. It’s nice to know we all have the opportunity to wear our inspiration daily.

Audra Azoury is giving away one Wing Necklace to one lucky winner AND one pair of Wing Earrings to a second winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, May 8th. *Giveaway open to US residents only!*

a young friend of mine was terribly injured while on the job doing community relief work in Guatemala. He may never walk again and he was a super outdoor athletic type guy who had dedicated his life to helping the poor. He is in a wheelchair but is still smiling and eager to get back to work. He is amazing

My best friend inspires me most. She recently decided to let go of her old eating/poor exercise habit and changed her eating and exercise routine – cold turkey. Her determination to become healthier (she’s lost 40lbs in 3 months!) has inspired me, a professed non-runner, to sign up for my first 5k in September. If she can persevere through her demons, so can I.

My husbands grandmother is the kind of woman I want to be. She is the person that taught me by example that love shouldn’t divide – it should only multiply. She has great grandchildren and she still is vivacious, a quick wit and works full time. She leads the family with strength and grace and I hope I turn out to be half the woman she is.

My mom inspires me all the time. Growing up, she was a working mom and my dad stayed at home to care for me and my sisters. This never struck me as unusual until around high school, when other adults expressed surprise or even sympathy for the fact that my dad was a “househusband.” My mom just worked her butt off and advanced through her company and provided for the household. She is an example of a strong, independent woman without having to crow about it constantly.

(When I read this morning’s inspiration post and saw that the Mid Century Modern line was based on detailing at Fallingwater, I RACED over to check it out and nearly clapped with glee when I spotted the first “notched” item! I know exactly what that detail is because it’s one of my favorites! Beautiful work overall, I wish I could afford to purchase all of it!)

This might sound really silly, but for most of my life I haven’t let other people inspire me – I’ve mainly competed against them. But lately I’ve been thinking about Mother Theresa and Gandhi A LOT lately and their cooperative attitude. The thing is, I want to be a world changer, and do big beautiful things. I’ve started kind of trying, but I feel there are pitfalls all along the way. One of the big ones I see is trying to get attention for trying to do good. I’ve been working really hard on doing what I believe without thinking about other people and trying to making EVERYONE happy. I’m learning to be inspired by EVERYONE, and to let myself be thankful for people rather than trying to be better than them all the time. (I realize this makes me sound like a big jerk, and the truth is, I’ve probably been a big jerk at times but hidden it. I’m working on it! And trying to open myself!)

My grandmother inspires me the most. She raised me and has shaped me into the woman that I am today. She took the time to teach me everything she knows. She’s such a loving person and I cherish her so much!

My mom inspires me…she was a young single mother of twins. My sister and I never wanted for anything, we were happy, and were the firsts in our family to go to college. My mom always stressed  academics and made great sacrifices for us. She’s a great role model for my sister and I and so many others in iur family!

I’m inspired by women who take a stand against inequality – however it may present itself.  Everyday, all around the world, there are injustices and human rights violations on individuals and groups of people.  And everyday, all around the world, there are women who stand up and speak out against these injustices.  These woman give hope and strength to entire generations of daughters, sisters, mothers – and they inspire me to influence change as far as I can reach – to make the world a little better for my daughter, and for all women.  Like the wings of a butterfly may create tiny changes in the atmosphere that have much larger effects in other locations, so can we.  Love the necklace – thanks for the opportunity!

Mine is my sister – but for all the reasons you wouldn’t expect. She made many mistakes. She’s in a lot of debt. She did some things you shouldn’t do for all the wrong reasons. But she’s changed and learned and come out so smart. She’s the best mother. Therefore, she is my inspiration. She didn’t take a perfect path but she’s working to get herself and her family where they want to be in life. I thin that’s more inspiration than someone who has done it “right” along the whole path. You can lose your way and come back even better.

My grandmother, a beautiful, gracious woman, who was self educated in all the parts of life that she wanted to experience but weren’t available to her through social class and money. She was an expert at making things beautiful in every way, and her spirit was beautiful too. Never judging others, always hopeful, always interested in the world around her. She inspires me still.

I just spent the week with one of my new friends. We were neighbors for a long time and then one day we started talking and bonded over post-partum depression. Since then, I’ve gotten to know her better and better and I’m astonished at the things she’s overcome in her life. She has a beautiful, calm spirit and she makes the world beautiful around her. There are a lot of people who inspire me and who do grandiose, meaningful things, but there is so much beauty in the quiet woman who strives everyday to make those around her happy, to make her space simple and beautiful, and who is gracious and thoughtful.

My dad. He was experiencing heart failure due to a rare disease, but never gave up hope. He was lucky enough to receive a heart transplant and is now thriving. His eternal optimism and grace inspires me every day to appreciate my body for everything it does for me and to be the best version of me despite the obstacles.

My dad. He has always been my rock.  He has also been the one person many went to for financial and personal advice and help. He is just retired his CPA practice 2 years ago and still has clients calling him for advice He will be 90 this September, I am 62 and going through a nasty divorce.  My dad really needs someone living with him, so here I am.  It’s the circle of life. I tell him, you took care of me much of my life so now it’s my turn.  I also believe my children and grandchildren will learn from what they see.  It’s all about taking care of family

Many people inspire me and different times in my life.  Currently it is my mom because of Mother’s Day.  She  is wonderful and beyond any words to describe.  I never really appreciated her when I was younger but now as a mother myself I truly see with wide eyes how she is the most amazing woman in my life!

    Rachel says:

The person who inspires me the most is my Mom.  Despite everything she has been through, she has always found a way to love those around her, live life to the fullest, and see the best in everyone.  It wasn’t until I was older did I realize all the sacrifices she made for us, be it money, time, or anything else we needed. She always put us first, but never complained.  Her selflessness, devotion, and positivity are truly inspirational.
