We couldn’t very well talk about “Endless Summer” without celebrating the one part of our body that deserves the most love and attention during the months of prolonged sunshine and warmth: our skin! It is always important to take care of our skin, of course, but I always find myself much more attentive when so much more of it is showing. It can be challenging in the oversaturated market of skincare to find a product that will satisfy not only our desire to indulge in luxury but also our need to pamper our souls.

Alejandro Rasic worked for 18 years in luxury perfumes and cosmetics before launching Ayres Beauty, his own all-natural body care and home collection infused with essential oils. Inspired by his native Buenos Aires, Rasic harnessed the beauty of the streets and bars and women of Argentina to create a signature line of aromatherapy body care and his intimate knowledge of all things luxe brings a level of sophistication to the products that you can’t fake. The body polish alone is worth its weight in gold. If we’re going to let summer stay awhile, I’m bringing Ayres Beauty along for the ride.

Ayres Beauty is giving away one $40 gift certificate to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Wednesday, September 11th. *Giveaway open to continental US only!* Comments now closed…good luck!

I can’t even think of one way I pamper myself, and that’s a problem. Candles and body polish are a good start though! I wish the Internet had scratch & sniff!!

By taking a hot, long bubble bath while reading a book!

I pamper myself by purchasing good skin care products and guilty-pleasure books. I don’t wear makeup, so it’s important to me that I keep my skin in really good condition, not only because for health reasons but also because it just makes me feel so much better and more confident. And light, fun, guilty pleasure books are good for the soul! Another way I pamper myself is by allowing splurges on fun-but-not-necessary items every so often: Jonathan Adler book ends, beautifully packed and scented perfumes and candles, and the occasional blowout.

A variety of ways! In the end I think I look for whatever will make me have THAT feeling. You know the one ladies… That feeling where you are able to breath in and just be happy. To feel confident in your abilities and your place in life. To feel beautiful and in control and able to reflect on all of the reasons you love your life. Sometimes all it takes is a nice cup of coffee and a quiet spot on the patio, Or maybe its a long hot bubble bath surrounded by candles glistening off the white tile and reflecting off the mirror, occasionally it’s a new top that just makes me feel beautiful, sometimes it’s finding a quiet moment to cuddle up with my puppies and a good book, and other times it’s getting a pedicure with my mom and laughing over a few sips of wine. I indulge in moments that make me happy, and depending on the day, the mood i’m in or even the season of the year it may be a different method!

I pamper myself by  exfoliating my skin every night, wearing makeup everyday, and painting my nails every week.

Pampering (to me) seems more like a state of mind, thinking about celebrating life (rather than just doing this thing or that.) As I learn more how to live in my body, I learn more how to celebrate/pamper the happy fact that I am ALIVE! Yip! I think anything that you do that brings attention to your body and helps you live in your own skin is a great thing to do – however, I’ve still got tons of Catholic guilt about caring for my body with beauty products. I need simple acts of self care to love life, so I keep working on finding them. I pamper myself by buying the fruits and vegetables I want to eat. And by drinking coffee on occasion (which makes the whole world sunny to me.) I have started applying coconut oil to my legs too, something I’ve never done. In short, I’m thankful I’m learning to be thankful that I have a body.

Most days, having a shower to peace and quiet without wee intruders feels like pure decadence, but if I really want to pamper myself, I send my kids with my husband and I read for an afternoon and take a beauty nap. I never thought that just having a quiet moment in the afternoon sun with a few crisp grapes by my side would be so indulgent, but it is pure bliss!

By eating well 90% of the time, but by getting really high quality indulgence food the other 10% of the time. That and gold eyeliner. It’s surprisingly versatile.

    Kate B says:

I have a hard time spending money on myself and am able to talk myself out of most purchases with surprising ease. That being said, once every 3 months or so, I let myself get something that my soul just craves, regardless of whether I really “need” it. It doesn’t have to be expensive and it can’t be something I require for my household. Once it was a super-soft blanket (I have tons of them already) in a blue tweed pattern for $20. Once it was a simple silver necklace I’d been eyeing up for over 3 years. Just a few weeks ago, I purchased a vintage 50s beaded bag in excellent condition for $25, because I knew I’d feel like a million dollars when I carried it at my friend’s wedding in November. These little things make me smile and remind me to be nice to myself!

By lighting really yummy smelling candles in the house, even during the day.  Having a beautifully smelling house and enjoying the glow of the candles seems like such an indulgence (not one that I grew up with) that I feel very blessed to use them!

    Courtney J says:

Taking a bath and using a nice-smelling body wash, then hanging out for a couple hours just reading (for fun, not serious reading). If I don’t feel like reading, then I’ll watch a movie, something I’ve wanted to see for a long time…and make popcorn, or some sort of easy snack, like crackers and brie.

    Chryselle says:

With a pesky four-year old at hand always, finding me-time is difficult lately. Getting out a frazzled state right now means getting to the bathroom for a long shower, where I can shampoo my hair without being interrupted by a “What are you doing, Mama?” Lately, early evening showers have been the answer – when the boy is engaged, awake and entertained. Bliss. 🙂

I get a facial every month – just because my age is increasing doesn’t mean I have to have wrinkles!

  24. 24
    Pumpernickel says:

Honestly? By locking the bathroom door when I go pee. I can still see the little fingers under the door and their voices saying “Mama done yet? What you doing mama? Mama?” but it gives me a minute to myself and that in itself is pampering.

    cindy says:

Every Sunday night, after the kids go to bed, I have an hour reserved for me time. I usually start by stretching and sipping tea for about 10 minutes just to loosen up and get rid of the days woes. Then i put on headphones and get lost in the music and do all those self-care things that I never seem to get to during the week….cut my nails, paint them, do a face mask, take a hot shower and deep condition my hair and then crawl into bed. It allows me regroup after the weekend and start every week with a fresh perspective. Is it Sunday yet? 🙂

    ELIZA ELLIOT says:

i’m a sucker for a good gel mani. i think if your nails are done it can say a lot about how you take care of yourself. i used to get a mani/pedi a few times a year and just do my own in between. but once i discovered gel manicures, i am completely hooked. i’m notorious for chipping my nails on the way out of the salon so the fact that they are dried instantly was a huge selling point for me. they usually last about four weeks on my nails if i use rubber gloves to do the dishes!

    Melinda KE says:

When I really want to pamper myself, I treat myself to an aromatherapy massage! It is heaven, and I leave feeling like a million bucks! Unfortunately, I can only treat myself once, maybe twice, a year. When I want to do some self pampering at home I use a chocolate scrub that smells yummy and makes me feel like I just left a spa! I also have an inflatable foot basin that I can soak my tired feet and then rub on a refreshing foot cream.  I should try to pamper myself more often!

    Anna L says:

I pamper myself by taking care of my mind, body, and soul.  That means that I give all of these, the most important parts of me, a break every once in a while.  The best way I pamper myself is by doing yoga, because it allows me to step back from my hectic lifestyle, and really reward and push my body to new limits.  Through meditating in yoga, I give my mind a break too.  All three meet in the middle and find a balance during the four hours a week when I practice.
