There are moments where I find myself “in between” styles. The stores I used to shop at just don’t fit my, ahem, demographic any longer and yet I haven’t found a new shop to match my aesthetic. Does this happen to anyone else? In my search, I find myself drawn to clothes that you find on every lady walking around town. I find myself drawn to classic lines with a unique spin. I find myself drawn to something new. This search is exhausting, really, so it comes as such a relief when I find a designer that fits these criteria.
Martina Marekova is a self-taught artist who embraces her own creativity and honors her perspective through creating. Focusing on eco-conscious practices (using deadstock so it doesn’t go to waste as well as vintage materials), Marekova doesn’t call herself a designer but I beg to differ. Her shop, Bartinki, is full of pieces that are gorgeous and functional without losing a sense of adventure and individuality. I am head over heels for the Fringe Skirt and the Oversize Clutch (both pictured above) and think I finally have an idea where I am headed next. Well, at least when it comes to fashion.
