There are moments where I find myself “in between” styles. The stores I used to shop at just don’t fit my, ahem, demographic any longer and yet I haven’t found a new shop to match my aesthetic. Does this happen to anyone else? In my search, I find myself drawn to clothes that you find on every lady walking around town. I find myself drawn to classic lines with a unique spin. I find myself drawn to something new. This search is exhausting, really, so it comes as such a relief when I find a designer that fits these criteria.

Martina Marekova is a self-taught artist who embraces her own creativity and honors her perspective through creating. Focusing on eco-conscious practices (using deadstock so it doesn’t go to waste as well as vintage materials), Marekova doesn’t call herself a designer but I beg to differ. Her shop, Bartinki, is full of pieces that are gorgeous and functional without losing a sense of adventure and individuality. I am head over heels for the Fringe Skirt and the Oversize Clutch (both pictured above) and think I finally have an idea where I am headed next. Well, at least when it comes to fashion.

Bartinki is giving away one $40 gift certificate to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, February 5th.  Giveaway now closed…good luck!
Tell us your favorite piece from the shop AND how would you describe your personal style?
Start checking the winner’s box on Monday, February 11th, to see if you’ve won!

there was a brown leather messenger bag that really caught my eye. I also liked the scarves and a lot of the leggings. very fun shop!

I like skinny stretchy cords and longer tunic style tops. I’m a grammi and those tops are very forgiving!

I have no style….or rather I have “Mommy style”. T-shirts and maternity jeans and an over sized leather diaper bag. Having a toddler and another baby in the belly does not often allow me enough time or money to focus on some of the finer things in life. The Purple n Grey Ombre Scarf would be a quick and luxurious addition to my wardrobe and perhaps start me back down the road of looking more put together.

I like the striped mint on gray linen scarf, even though it’s mens!!  My style is pretty boho/hippie/simple when my hair is long, but a little more punky when it’s short.

my personal style consists of headbands: headbands to work out in, colorful headbands, headbands to match my gray/black/ivory clothing. Always.Headbands. I have collected headbands from all over South America, fueling my obsession. So there is no doubt I would choose the deep burgundy headband from Bartinki

Love the oversized clutch!! My style is classic with a twist. My closet is full of pieces that won’t go out of style (jeans, pencil skirts, slacks, white button ups) and I usually throw in random pieces that make me happy. My happy pieces aren’t necessarily trendy, they just speak to me. My latest happy piece is a bright chunky sweater.

well the heading says it’s a scarf for men, but i’d sure love to sport the “Black winter scarf with faux leather snap.” and my personal style can only be described as comic book nerd meets punk rock with an over 40 flair.

What a beautiful collection! So innovative. I love the black fringe t-shirt. What I love about your shop is that you have so many signature pieces. That’s how I like to style myself…I like to have at least one signature, show-stopping piece and build my outfit around it to make it shine.

My favorite item is the Asymmetric lace skirt…that would be fun to wear. My personal style is casual, cozy, and functional. As an art teacher, I can potentially get messy in all of my classes so I need to wear clothing that allows me to move around the room, pick up things, climb on top of tables in order to post things on the wall, etc.

The wood and vintage beads long necklace is so beautiful, it is definitely my favorite pick. My personal style is probably best described as feminine bohemian. I enjoy lots of the feminine pastels and florals, but also love earth tones, lots of long skirts and dresses and flowy tops.

I love all of the collar necklaces! My personal style is reflective of my job. I work in a law firm so I have to be polished at all times, but I love to throw in a little fun. A funky necklace, earrings, scarfs and patterns give a little nod to the creative against my pressed black pants and jackets.

i like the mermaid skirt, the oversized chiffon top and the raglan tee!

i guess my style would be classic but affordable. i really love classic silhouettes eg. midi skirts with nipped waists, high waisted trousers (gotta thank my mum for some of her old pieces, even if i’m way taller than her!) but most importantly, my outfits must be affordable ie. they don’t need to be “branded” for me to look good. cheap clothes can still look awesome and polished if done right! (and some handmade jewelry to top it off doesn’t hurt either)

    Katie Jane says:

I LOVE the oversized clutch and the blue leather handbag.

My style is very classic, I’d say. A-line skirts and cardigans all the way – almost a 1950s type style, but paired with things like oversized earrings and brightly colored tights to give it a modern twist.

My personal style…loose neutral tops, a quality pair of jeans, and a pop of color somewhere. Done.

I a loving the coral infinity scarf!

My style is described best as “still losing baby weight, and wearing what fits” I am moving back into my old wardrobe slowly, but my style has changed a lot since I last bought clothes (my oldest is 3) so I really plan to start over…

I live in the Pacific NW, where days are grey and my style needs a bit of humor to brighten things up.  I love the zipper earrings and the collars, a little bit steampunk with a touch of wit.  Makes me smile.
