{shop :: Facebook :: blog}

Growing up, one of my dreams was to be a greeting card editor. (To be honest, it is still one of those things I still aspire to be.) I believe in the power of the right greeting card and have always held steadfast to the idea that written sentiments are long lasting and worth preserving. My long-standing dream of working directly in the business is something that springs from my absolute love of the form and I couldn’t be happier to bring you our friends at Blue Mountain for today’s giveaway.

BlueMountain.com is an online greeting card company that was founded in 1996 to celebrate the connections we have with our loved ones. Full disclosure: I have been a fan of Blue Mountain for about the duration if it’s conception because my mom has been a long-time member, sending me e-cards for any and all reasons. Blue Mountain is a name I associate with love, humor, celebration, joy. Seeing their name in my inbox has always filled me with excitement and I can assure you that (while long-form, handwritten correspondence is its own wonderful beast) an ecard from Blue Mountain is a simple joy that cannot be measured. Be sure to check out their seasonal greetings as well. You will find yourself sending cards to everyone in your contacts list. This is a brand with a special tie to my heart and I am so honored to share them with you.

Blue Mountain is giving away one $250 Visa Gift Card +1 Blue Mountain Membership (both to one winner!) and one runner-up will receive a  Blue Mountain membership! To enter to win, please follow the directions below no later than Monday, December 15th. *Open to residents of US & Canada only.*
Please visit Blue Mountain and do the following: Use one of the free Letters to Santa downloads to write a letter (from anyone in the family) telling Santa what you want for Christmas and then share that letter with us here in the comments. Blue Mountain will be reading your letters and will gift one winner a membership AND a $250 Visa Gift Card to help make your wishes come true!

I wasn’t sure how to share the Blue Mountain letter on here, so here’s what my daughter’s card says:

    “Dear Santa,

I’ve been a very good girl this year. This is my first Christmas and I am so excited. I can’t wait to see snow and wear my pretty red Christmas dress.

For Christmas, I want lots of fun things to chew on! That’s my very favorite thing to do. I don’t care what you get me, as long as I can gnaw on it! Thank you!

I printed out the Santa beard paper, and my 4-year-old daughter loved it!  She sat down with me and wanted to start her letter to Santa right away.  Thank you!  It was so much fun doing this with her!  Here is what she wrote:

    Dear Santa,
I am excited for Christmas a lot, Santa!  I love Christmas a lot!  I am excited for you to come to my house.  I have been a very good girl all year.  For Christmas, I would like a My Little Pony, a unicorn that walks, a Tiana doll that sings, a color-changing pony, and new books to read.
On Christmas Eve, I’ll leave out cookies for you!  And I’ll leave out carrots for your reindeer.  I love you Santa!

    Dear “Santa”,
For the past year I have been as good as I could be. I have tried to be patient and selfless with my boys and a supportive and loving wife to my husband. I have a really hard time asking for things for myself but I was hoping to have some more time to myself to focus on my fitness and to recharge my mind. There has been a lot on my plate lately and I feel like my cup is empty (pardon the pun Santa but I think you have a good sense of humor). Please help me love myself again. That would be the best gift I could receive. Love, Amy (a true believer in the spirit of Christmas)

    Dear Santa,
I hope you are as excited for Christmas this year as we are.  We’ve been busy trying to make our home beautiful.  We’ve gathered pine cones and sweet gum plants from our neighborhood to make a beautiful wreath for our front door.    We even used some old PVC pipe to make our own modern Christmas tree!  (It’s lovely.  Martha Stewart taught us how!)  When you get here, we hope you’ll notice all of the hard work we’ve put in.

Santa, we’re very tired.  We want a restful Christmas together.    In specific, we would love a new bed for six year old E.  Being such a grown up girl, it would be wonderful if she had her own bed.  Also, we’d really love to have a big fancy meal for Christmas.  Could you bring some delicous, healthy food? (Organic, please!)  We’ll cook it, we promise it!  Finally, we’d really love to see the Nutcracker.  Can you drop us some tickets before Christmas starts?  We’ll check in the mailbox every day just in case.

We really want to enjoy Christmas together Santa, and we would love your help.  We know there are tons of families all over the world who have even less than we do – and we want you to take care of them first, but if you get around to it and want to wing by some of these things, it would make all the difference for us.

    Love,  Elizabeth (32) and E (6) and C (2)

    Dear Santa,
Could you please bring me some delicious Swiss chocolate that won’t go straight to my hips? But in all seriousness, could you please sprinkle some Christmas Magic my way this winter, I would love to become a mother!
    Love, Kristen

    Dear Santa,
This Christmas I’ve been so blessed with family and friends. If I win, please give my gift card to Elizabeth and E and C who entered at #4 above me. Many years ago, I was a single mom, and I remember how hard it could be.

I’ve also dreamed of writing greeting cards since I was a child, like the writer in the Bright Side Project post! For the Santa letter, I picked the Santa’s beard letter style. It’s just the kind of thing I would have loved as a kid.

    Dear Santa,
It’s been a while since I’ve written to you. But this year, I have an important Christmas wish. When my new niece was born premature a month ago, I wasn’t worried, because I was born extremely premature and am fine. But she might not be so lucky, and we’re waiting to find out if she has a problem that will require surgery in the very near future and an eventual organ transplant. There is a chance that it is a more minor problem, and that’s my wish. Santa, I don’t know if you can help with this kind of thing, but in the spirit of thinking positively, I thought I’d ask if you can work your magic!

P.S. I really loved Elizabeth and Maggie’s posts, and was hesitant to write one myself. But I loved the idea of writing to Santa… and figured it doesn’t hurt to ask you all (and Santa) to send good energy to my niece, as new age-y as that sounds! If I win the prize, I’ll use the money to help set up the baby’s room and get my sister a massage or something to help her relax. Thank you!

    From my five-year-old son, Jude:

    Dear Santa,

For Christmas, I want to spend time with my lovely, awesomest family. May I please have a pair of Legos and a home for my little, blue puppy. And a mom and dad for my puppy. And a city for my puppy. And a little baby for my puppy. Thank you, Santa!

    Dear Santa,

This year has been a rough one!  Without going into too much detail, we’ve faced numerous challenges, but we survived.  After all, that’s what makes us stronger and builds character, right?! We are so thankful for our first home and look forward to spending Christmas here.  I don’t ask for anything this Christmas because there is nothing I ‘need’.  If we take the focus off of material things, we find we are so much happier and content with what we already have 🙂 I would like to help some family members in need. They’re so weary and they could use some extra love this Christmas!

    Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is a healthy baby…..and if it’s not too much to ask, some adorable tiny shoes, some diapers, a crib, and a library of books to start her off right!
