Every now and then an artist creates something so ingenious it inspires me to look at my life differently. I find myself bookmarking ideas and planning great and creative projects based on these ideas and yet, more often than not, these projects lay dormant on my Pinterest board and never see the light of day. Truth be told, some ideas are better off left to the inspired makers who put in the time, the effort, the ingenuity.

Jessica Farmer creates magic out of repurposed wood and fixtures under the umbrella Bluebird Heaven. While I have great intentions with creating some hanging racks for my house, Farmer has actual artistry. This Kitchen Hook Board is absolute genius and I absolutely cannot get over the unique beauty of the Rolling Pin Hook Rack. Farmer’s shop is a haven of inspiration, organization, and eco-conscious living. It is heaven; Bluebird Heaven.

I like the small barn lumber shelf the best!

My grandma told me once, in a very stern voice, not to let my future husband run after other women because it would be “romance killer”. Uh, grandma, if my future husband runs after other women I won’t stay married to him! Her point was well taken, though. Thank you, grandma!

I love the Printers Drawer Display.

I’ve heard from several people that you and your other need to TALK a LOT, and if possible, joke.

love the colourful unique coat rack, especially the one with drawer handles! too cute!

haven’t really gotten any advice on maintaining relationships cos i’ve never been in a relationship (so no one has thought to offer me advice haha), although looking at my parents, i think it’s always about making peace with each other (if they had an argument in the day) before going to bed. my parents work together so they’re almost always together where ever they go, which already makes for lots of time spent together, something i think is very important in a relationship 🙂

and looking at the world’s longest married couple, i think my parents are doing something right as well 🙂 (read about the couple here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2226145/Worlds-longest-married-couple-Husband-wife-100-spent-87-happy-years-together.html)

Not too surprisingly, I love the Reclaimed Barn wood Coat Rack. I am a bit obsessed with barns. My dad grew up in Montana and whenever we drive back to visit, I just love looking out over the green and honey-wheat fields to the weathered barns standing on the plain. In terms of relationship advice…I’ve been given lots of good advice, but I think the one that keeps me in tune with my husband the most is praying for him daily. It forces me to consider what struggles he might be going through and how I might help ease his way.

When I got married my mother-in-law told us “major on the majors and minor on the minors.” It’s been the best advice ever! What she meant was don’t freak out about socks being left on the floor, freak out about a car accident or a house burning down! It’s always good to keep things in perspective. :o))

Although, I truly love all the pieces. I love how Rustic but chic they are. Great statement pieces. I absolutely love the green rolling pin hanger. It’s so simple but genius. Wish I had thought of it.

The best advice I think anyone can be given for a lasting relationship is to communicate. Lack of communication means one or both will eventually explode. Never let it get to that point. Don’t nit pick, but communicate.

My favorite piece would be the jewelry storage. I adore it. Now, as far as the advice goes the best I have received would be:  In a romantic relationship you have two choices: death or divorce. You can either die to your selfishness daily and learn to serve the other or you can get a divorce. The choice is yours.

awww, the “Love U Barn lumber and architectural detail Rack” is adorable! and the best advice…well…i don’t know that i’ve ever been given any good advice on relationships. personally, i have discovered that relationships are not “one size fits all” so often, the advice i hear is not advice i would heed. so maybe my best advice is to remember that…not all relationships are “one size fits all.” you know what needs to be done better than anyone else. so do it.

I like the Baby Block Custom Name Hook Board. Also, making a relationship works takes unselfishness. Putting God first and your husband second is the best advice I’ve heard.

The Reclaimed Barn Wood Coat Rack is perfect!   My sister in-law advised us to play games.  Board games and card games, not the other kind!  My husband and I play a game after dinner, a few nights a week.  It ensures that we have some time to talk, connect and have some fun!

i love the rolling pin apron racks! genius!!

my favorite advice was from a friend who told me the first year of marriage is always the hardest. i look back and realize she was so right — so much adjustment and newness, getting to really know each other and deal with everyday things like finances and bills. But it’s so worth it! Now, 10 years later, our marriage is stronger than ever!

I really like the Cheese Box Repurposed Hanging storage. I think the best advice I’ve been given is to thank your significant other for the good things that they do….a little praise can really go a long way.

    Nikki says:

I like all the hooks, signs, and repurposed bits, but the rustic level hook rack is my favorite.  Best relationship advice: I heard a woman say “sure, you’re right, but do you want to be RIGHT or do you want to be MARRIED? Ok, then let it go.”  And that has stayed with me ever since because there are lots of times I am right, and even righteously indignant and angry, but I can either hold on to that, or let it go for the sake of harmony (which doesn’t mean letting him get away with cr–, I definitely call him on that, it’s just not choosing to hold on to my anger or my righteous position because there’s plenty of times where I am wrong and I need grace from him too).

  16. 16
    Courtney J says:

I love the “Purple Hook Rack”. Best advice I’ve been given about making a relationship last is that it takes time to develop and nurture a relationship….from both people.

    Natalie T. says:

I love the set of 2 Hook Boards she has made. My 5 year old can never reach high enough to get her coat or hang her coat up on our existing coat rack on our entry wall…..so I find it on the kitchen floor a lot of times.

Best advice I have ever been given was from my older sister. She told me that there will be days, even weeks that go by that you will completely despise your spouse after you get married. You will argue, they will get on your last nerve, you will even swear you hate them at times! Then out of no where they will do something, sweet or funny or something that reminds you how you really, really love them. She said, “Don’t think that marriage is some kind of Disney movie or a fairy tale “Chic Flick”. You become family members and you are in each others faces ALL the time and it can really wear at both of you, but that does NOT mean that you AREN’T supposed to be married to this person! So don’t doubt your love. It will always take work to keep your relationship strong.” We should all tell our little boys and girls this. So when they grow up and are in a relationship, you just don’t give up and think you have failed as a husband or wife, just because their fairy tale marriage they have pictured in their heads, isn’t a reality. 🙂 Thank God for Big Sisters!

Love Rolling Pin Hook Rack! Very cute & practical…

Best advice to make a relationship last is never belittle your partner – never lose respect for them, and always be their ally. You should be their positive shoulder to lean on.

    Tiffany says:

I love the Cheese Box Repurposed Hanging storage. It has character! The best piece of advice I’ve received is to always put your husband/wife first. If your spouse feels loved and respected they will in turn treat you the same way. And your children will learn to love and respect by watching you. I also really liked the advice of always fight naked. It’s pretty difficult to be angry when nakedness is right in front of you ;o)

    Erin says:

My favorite is the printer’s drawer. My mom always had one hanging above the antique sewing machine, and it had tiny little knick-knacks in it (and I do love a good tiny knick-knack), and I have always wanted one of my own.

The best piece of relationship advice I’ve ever heard (and completely believe in) is to NEVER call your significant other names, no matter how angry you may be or, on the other hand, how much you may be “just kidding.” Even when you’re joking, it normalizes name-calling, and it’s just not acceptable to get used to tearing each other down.

    Suzi says:

Chalk block hook rack- genius! Me and my daughter are about to move into our first proper home and we would love a coat rack 🙂

“Hold hands”. So simple but so good. I wish I held my daughters dads hand more. It’s not just about holding hands though, being close in “unintimate” moments is really important. Touch is a big, big thing.

the rolling pin hook rack is greatness! my grandma told me i needed to smile more then people would want to be my friend. and i’ve found that smiling once you are friends is the key to figuring out if you should keep the relationship going. if you’re not smiling, the relationship isn’t making you happy, so get out now.

    Jennifer says:

I like the pointing finger sign. So cute! The best relationship advice I’ve been given is that it’s never 50/50. It may even itself out in the end, but any relationship is usually not 50/50 all of the time.

I absolutely adore the love U barn rack.

Everytime I get off the phone with my dad he says, “I love you. Do good things.” The advice I’ve learned from him over the years, regardless of the relationship, is to overuse I love you, to do good things for others, and communicate on the daily.

  25. 25

I’m really loving the shabby chic white and pink hanging rack. The best relationship advice I’ve ever gotten is not to go to bed angry. Every time I follow that advice, I sleep well. If I don’t, I’m up all night stewing! It’s so hard to do, but worth it!

I love the projects that incorporate old type trays, especially the long printer drawer display. I had a small one on my wall as a child that I tucked toys into and I would love to have one again. Best advice: respect each other and your relationship wherever you are.

I found myself clicking on each picture – ooohhing and awwwing at each piece of art. Love, love, love the multi-purpose decorative hanging storage racks!! What a unique way to jazz up any wall. The best advice I was given is to never make the one you love feel alone, especially when you are right there. It’s an important rule to remember in any relationship — spouse, friend, family… 🙂

I love the Barn Wood Coat Rack Labeled Organizer, it’s rustic and I love that each person gets their own hook!

love the bright hooks… Best advice…

you never know when your time is up…so never walk out of the house in anger…always hug and kiss those you love goodbye…..

I adore the dark orange/coral rack with hooks. I would LOVE IT for my house. I’m a newylwed (6 months in!) and the best advice I’ve been given for making a relationship list is to view it like a recipe. You have to put in a little of a lot of things (patience, time, hugs, ksisses) for it to bake in to a fabulously amazing cake (or cupcake or brownie or whatever one’s heart desires) 🙂

    Renee A. says:

I could really use the cuisine rack so that would be my fave, As for relationship advice, I guess one of the things is to keep moving forward and leave the past in the past and not let the little things bother you when there are much more important things to worry about.  🙂

The natural wood jewelry organizer is beautiful, and definitely my favorite. I could finally see all my jewelry if I had one of those :). For relationship advice, I think it’s entirely important to remember yourself as an individual. Don’t make your entire life your relationship. Continue to have your own goals, activities and friends.
