They say that less is more. From design to shopping, the idea that less is more reminds us of the beauty of simplicity. Aesthetically speaking, this idea rings true for me now more than ever. My personal style has evolved over the years into a paring down, of sorts. Rather than gobble up every cute accessory that catches my eye (because, really, who has the room?) I have become much more selective in my collections. In turn, I find myself drawn to simple, clean jewelry that fully embodies the less is more attitude. I have been honoring “Abundance” without even realizing it.

Carrots & Co is a gem of a company that I am so excited to share with you. Alexis Chiang creates simple, everyday jewelry that adds that sweetest touch of sophistication to your day. While two of my absolute must-haves are pictured above, I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t also direct you to the Sentiments necklace, the Equerre necklace, and the Courbe bracelet. Who am I kidding? I should be directing you all over the shop but let’s honor the idea that less is, indeed, more.

Carrots & Co is giving away two $25 gift certificates to two lucky readers (one each)! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, November 15th. Comments now closed….good luck!

What does your joy look like today?

Joy for me today is dressing my daughter up in Christmas attire and having her Christmas card photo shoot.  I can’t wait to see her in a Santa hat with bells all around her!!

(I don’t normally like doing Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, but with a baby this year we have to do things a bit earlier.)

Today my joy is my family, knowing that we are so fortunate and lucky to be safe and sound in Brooklyn while so many other families are struggling with the devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought.  Being able to do what little we can to help those families out is also bringing me joy:)

Joy today looks like a 23 lb bundle of baby boy. Twinkling green eyes that see everything, chubby little legs with thighs like turkey drumsticks that never stop kicking, and a two-tooth smile that lights up the world.  Right now he’s sleeping curled up next to me with his thumb in his mouth and baby snores (my husband calls it “sawing toothpicks”). This little bundle of joy is my sister’s, and I am blessed to have them in my life!

My joy today is a plane ride to Denver in 12 hours. In March of this year my dept. was laid off. We had traveled the country and were in different cities each week, training baby photography, and we all lived in different states. Getting to see each other was a rare occasion, but we talked so much that they quickly became my family. The day we were laid off we were all separated into different offices, different cabs and finally, separate sections of the airport for our trips back home so that we couldn’t talk…

Because of that we never got to say good-bye to one another. Tonight I finally get to see them and we are having a reunion with good drinks, a toasty fire, movies, games and a long awaited opportunity to smile and laugh together. I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Today my joy (was, as she’s now gone to her dad’s) was my 2 yr old daughter and I playing with a soccer ball on the driveway. Doesn’t sound like much but I’ve been quite depressed lately and to feel the sun on my skin was like heaven, and to hear her giggle was the cherry on top. She had sunblock and a hat on, first time this Summer (we’re in NZ). Magical 🙂

Today my joy was finding out from my fiancé that we have a home!! We put in an offer for a house and I sent the home owners a heartfelt letter of why we love the house and would love the opportunity to live there! Found this in the afternoon they picked our bid because the letter was genuine and a nice touch! So we will be home owners for the first time so that brings me the biggest joy of the day!!!

I’ve been knocked on my butt from a cold all week, so today my joy is being somewhat functional, but also having the luxury of being able to stay home all day if I need to without the guilt of having to call in sick to work. If I feel up to it this afternoon, said joy will include testing out a Christmas present idea, because handmaking things for people I love makes me supremely happy!

my parents were super busy and went back to work the entire weekend, so even though we could only eat a very rushed dinner at almost 10pm tonight (it’s sunday night here in singapore) i’m grateful for the chance to have that meal together, even if it seems like such a small thing. while family dinners were once a daily affair, ever since my older brother and i both started university, we’ve been eating home less and less so it was good to be able to catch up with my parents amidst their busy schedules and our finals preparation 🙂
