When I am in a place of transition in my life, one of the ways I center myself is to remember that we are all members of a global community. There is something about remembering that we are all small beings in the great scheme of things that helps focus the energy where it is needed most. One of the greatest rewards that comes from being a part of The Bright Side Project is the opportunity to bring attention to brands that live this ideal and allow our community to celebrate them.

Devrim Kadirbeyoglu founded Chouchette as way to inspire collaboration between both contemporary artists and traditional artisans to create high quality accessories.

At the core of Chouchette, producing is connected to the idea that we do not inherit nor own the world, and we share its resources. It is our duty to nurture the environment.

The result is a selection of gorgeously handcrafted wares that speak of unique and impeccable design. The “Stuck to the Floor” cushion is just calling to be a part of my couch while I’m thinking my summer just won’t be complete without these espadrilles.  What better way to be a part of the global community than to wear the artists of the world, don’t you think?

Chouchette is giving away one “Lamp” Small White Bag to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, July 10th.
Please visit Chouchette and tell us: What is your favorite part of your personality?
Start checking the winner’s box on Tuesday, July 15th, to see if you’ve won!

I’d say my favorite part of my personality is my adaptability. I haven’t always possessed this characteristic & I’m proud to have finally evolved from someone who craves control to someone who goes with the flow and picks her battles.

I am an intense dreamer but I put up a good front. It may look like I’m just grocery shopping or washing dishes on the exterior but in my mind I am dancing at a regency ball or sitting in a meadow somewhere in Austria.

When I was in high school, I had a terrible boyfriend who told me that nobody liked me and I didn’t have any friends. It wasn’t true, but it made an impression. I got rid of him and made it a point to focus on being a good friend. Facebook makes it easier to keep in touch, but long before FB came along, I made it a point to keep in touch with friends of all manner so they knew I was thinking about them. I have a strong core of great friends and different circles of not-so-close friends. Regardless of where you go or what you do, you can be sure I’m thinking of you and that you’ve got a friend in me.

That I am a very positive person.  I see the good in people.  I am the kind of person that sees the glass half full.  If there is a problem, I try to find a solution.  If I can’t solve it I seek help without feeling guilty.

That I am well-read, articulate, and have an exceptional vocabulary, plus I have a quick wit, which means I am FUNNY!  My teenage sons have the same traits, and my husband is also charming, intelligent, and funny too, so I am lucky enough to not only have this favorite facet of my personality, I get to enjoy wit and humor in the other people in my household!

My friends would say my sense of humor. Personally – I do not think I am that funny – but they always laugh at things I say

    Elizabeth says:

I love two things about my personality – one of them is what I was born with and the other is what I’ve “become.”  I love that I’m kind – that I was born into a kind family and that caring for others was a gift my parents gave me.  That being said, I also love that as an adult I’ve become someone who cares about social justice.  This happened for me when I lost a spouse and became a single parent.  I didn’t understand poverty before that (I went back to school and it was a continual struggle to find money to eat on a week to week basis).  Before this, I didn’t understand pain of suffering others have when they struggle on a day to day basis.  Even though things have been difficult (even impossible it has seemed), I love how this has reformed my personality.  I love that I’m someone who thinks and cares about the suffering of others.  I love that I can no longer just want myself to succeed, but see myself as connected to others.

I like it that I am funny – I try to make everyone laugh without being too sarcastic. I feel it is nice to make people smile even for just a moment.

    Sparrow says:

I’m try to pull in individuals who linger around the periphery of society. Having been on the edges myself at various points in my life, I try really hard to be inclusive and to show friendship, even if the person is not someone I would normally be friends with. I have found the most wonderful friends by looking beyond my normal ken: my cranky lady English friend who is as wry and sharp-tongued as they come. We’ve helped each other through difficult times and, despite the miles and years that separate us, she is as dear to me as my own soul.

I had no idea Turkey experienced that awful history. It reminds me of the graphic novel (Persepolis) I just read about the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Totally fascinating, horrific, and beautifully rendered.

    Monica Borge says:

My favorite part about my personality is that I can somehow smile during any type of situation. The word to describe that isn’t coming to mind but regardless I love this part about me because with it not only can I turn and angry, sad, or boring situation into a happy one I can also use this to make others happy in a difficult situation and that means more to me than anything.
