Well, here we are, friends. We have reached the end of the month; the time where we bring to a close the fact that “We Heart It.” While we are always sad to see a month-long celebration of love come to an end, we have chosen a very special contributor as our bookend. A last loving kiss blown your way. After all, we heart it and we heart you.

Amanda Hughes of Chroma Shift creates the kind of jewelry that, well, that I wish I could create. Honestly, friends, what we have here is an artist that speaks to my aesthetic with such harmony, I almost feel possessive of the brand. However, I wouldn’t dare keep this gem of a shop to myself. Chroma Shift is full of simple yet sophisticated pieces that you will find yourself wearing on a daily basis. Surely I’m not alone in this. Don’t we all heart such beauty?

Chroma Shift is giving away TWO Geometric Hand-Painted Antiqued Brass Round Pendants in Blue to TWO lucky winners (one each)! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, March 7th.
Please visit Chroma Shift and tell us: Who was your first crush?

My first crush was a boy who was in my preschool class named Cody. For two young kids we really loved one another, in a very innocent way. We traded love notes and trinkets with one another and I often told my mom that one day I was going to marry him. At my birthday party he even gave me my very first kiss! (on the cheek) My mom looks back on it as a cute little moment between two kids, but I look back and I still remember the butterflies that fluttered around in my tummy while we sat and did puzzles together.

My first crush was Fred Savage, when he was in The Wonder Years! It was mostly probably because my big sister had a crush on him, and of course I wanted to be just like her, but I “loved” Fred so much that – as about a 5 year old – I wrote on the inside of one of my mom’s lampshades “I <3 Fred." It is still there, to this day!!

I wish I could remember his name! I know we were in pre-school and he would sit next to me and put his arm around me. Our teachers called us love birds. But, once we graduated to kindergarten, I never saw him again.

His name back then was Allen Michael, but he dropped the Michael in high school. We grew up together and were on swim team together every summer. His older sister was my best friend so I spent most of my time at his house anyway, but we hung out all the time. When we were 11, we were hanging out at the pool one day and I tried to kiss him and he told me he had a crush on my friend Lizzy.. 🙁

Chris Weaver in 1st grade. He asked me to be his girlfriend, and he totally gave me a ring that I gave back when I dumped him in via a love note. The teacher intercepted the note, read it out loud to the class, and gave us both detention for passing notes in class.

But really, my first crush was Matthew in the 2nd grade. He was tall and cute and had tons of freckles. He referred to me as a “shrimp” one day, making fun of my short stature, and it totally crushed me. I still thought he was cute even though he made fun of me.

5th grade. A blonde-haired boy…I found him on Facebook while looking through a friends’ list from high school. He looks almost the same, except taller…and a little more manly.

I don’t know if I ever divulged to anyone in 5th grade that I liked him…

    Lisa says:

In the 1st grade I had a crush on a boy named Jonathan. I made the devastating mistake of bringing my little pink diary to school, which stated as much, and during recess another boy got his hands on it and ran around the playground telling everyone what it said!

In the days of half-day kindergarten, I spent the other half of my day in “play-group,” with three boys; Michael Unger, Logan Farnham and Danny Bryden. Lucky for me, I was a bit of a tom-boy, and would never let a crush get in the way of Tonka Trucks and digging in dirt.
Danny sent me a post card that summer before 1st grade, saying he missed me, and we’d play soon. I still have it – in a frame.

  35. 35

A cute boy in my kindergarten class. I started young!

    Kate B says:

I had a kindergarten boyfriend named Blaze. I remember we held hands and finger-painted together. I do not recall kissing him. Is it weird that I totally still remember his name? I’m sure I had a tiny crush on him in a 5-year-old way.

It was 2nd grade and his name was David .  I hadn’t sen him in over 40 years and at our 40th HS reunion we reconnected and talked about how he asked  his mom to buy me a necklace for Chanukah.

    Emily B says:

In 1st grade, the love of my life was an uber-dreamy boy named Steven. Flowing blonde locks. The steely blue eyes off a Siberian husky. My best friend and I wrote this story about him called the Luve Story, illustrated solely with gold, silver, and fuchsia colored pencils, of course. It went something like this: “Once upon a time, there was a beautiful boy who I loved. A boy named steven. I love him for eternity.” I remember lying in my bed and feeling tragical that he would never know who I was, that, daft but handsome, handsome hottie. Just a few years ago during the winter Olympics, I nearly died when the announcer gave a background story on one of the Olympians, Steven Nyman. Oh, my heart! My long lost love! It was him! An OLYMPIC SKIER. What the what?!?!?! My husband still makes fun of me for falling all over myself and screaming at the television about my hunky lover boy.

    Lauren P says:

His name was Brian and he was my kindergarten crush. He had deep brown eyes and thick, bowl-cut hair (hey, it was the 80s). Our preschool had a giant wooden playground ship named the Good Ship Lollipop and I used to chase Brian all around and through that thing. Oh, Brian. Your bowl cut will forever be in my heart.

  44. 44
    Jen says:

his name was essex racca. he was a fellow student in my kindergarden-second grade class and had silver caps on his front two teeth. for whatever reason that sealed the deal for me. also, after two years of being called “jen” he was the only person to call me by “jennifer” per my request…

a boy with magical teeth AND who listened and granted my wishes. what more could a girl ask for?!

  45. 45
    Lori Shelby says:

His name was Greg and he lived up the street from my best girl friend.  He had red hair, and to this day, I have a thing for red haired men.  Problem is, they are kinda hard to find!

My first crush was on a man who lived next door. I was 7, he was 25. He’d just bought the house and he was the most handsome man ever. A week later he got married and his new bride moved in. I was devastated! But, over time, I grew to love her. They were, and still are, the cutest couple I’ve ever known.

  50. 50

It was first grade.  He had blonde hair and blue eyes.  His name was Chris Jones.  All the girls liked him.  Boy could he play a mean game of kick ball!
