{shop :: Facebook}

You know what does it for me? Good jewelry. But let’s be clear: my definition of “good” may not be the standard that most people think of. I’m not much of a bling person, you know? I tend to favor simple beauty and gorgeously crafted elements rather than overwrought and loud adornments. Sure, those have their time and place, too, but give me impeccable form with a nod to geometry and I’m all in. I’m also a simple girl in that I prefer metals to gems any day of the week.

Erica  Bello creates my dream baubles. Her jewelry is a nod to the fine art of metalsmithing and the juxtaposition between form and function enhances the very reason I seek out jewelry in the first place. If its function is to adorn, Bello answers that call with grace and style and respect. This Miniature Reliquary and Black Druzi Ring are on my short list for must have items. (Although, to be honest, there is not a piece here I wouldn’t wear.) Since we aim to bring the sunshine to you (and not just in the month of July), Erica Bello Jewelry is a good place to start, don’t you think?

    In the absence of a prompt, let me share my favorite love poem:

    Sonnet XVII
    –Pablo Neruda

    I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
    or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
    I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
    in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

    I love you as the plant that never blooms
    but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
    thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
    risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

    I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
    I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
    so I love you because I know no other way

    than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
    so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
    so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

    I think I like the crystal pendant the best. It reminds me of the rupees on the Nintendo game Zelda and the shard from the Dark Crystal. Classic and vintage, just how I like it.

    I am new to jewelry.  I never wore it because I didn’t think it looked good on me.  Lately, I have discovered its beauty and what it can do for an outfit!  Let’s just say I have gone crazy! 🙂 This silver pendant would be an excellent addition to my growing collection.  Beautiful pieces!

    n absence of a prompt I’m going to say that the thing that is making me the most happy this summer is being able to bike commute to work.  My route takes me by the lake, through some woods and alongside fields. It makes me feel so grateful to live in Vermont.

    I absolutely adore your pieces! Such exquisite detail! Love it all, but my favorite is the Miniature Reliquary! It gives me a feeling of nostalgia, and reminds me of my grandmothers house. It was filled with treasures, including a unique little birdcage that I loved peering into.

    In absence of a post, I will give you a little insight into my morning. I woke up to snuggling puppies, longed for a hot cup of coffee and had to slowly drag myself out of bed. It was difficult to place one foot in front of the other, but I don’t mind a bit! I’m exhausted today, but last night I got to see one of my all-time favorite bands, The Postal Service, in concert! They were extrordinary! Jenny Lewis was absolutely beautiful, the music was perfect and the melody’s were exciting! I may be tired today, but seeing them live after 10 years of silence was absolutely amazing!!!!!!

    I loved a previous commenters idea to share a favorite poem. This is the last stanza of my favorite love poem ‘Everyday You Play’ by Pablo Neruda

    My words rained over you, stroking you.
    A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl of your body.
    I go so far as to think that you own the universe.
    I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells,
    dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.
    I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees.

    What beautiful work she does! Since her sunshine post mentioned travelling as a source of inspiration, I’ll talk about the trip I went on this weekend for my birthday: to the Red Ants Pants Music Festival in Montana. The trip was full of breathtaking beauty, cows as soon as we crossed the border (seriously. In the Glacier half of the Waterton/Glacier park that Canada and the US share, we saw cows about five minutes south of Alberta and then pretty much constantly the entire rest of the trip. Montanans take their ranching incredibly seriously), fantastic music, and only a little bit of sunburn. It was awesome.

    I absolutely love how unique these pieces are! They all look like they have come out of the most awesome dream. The kind where you wake up and wish you could go to sleep and visit that magical land one more time. I must also say that I love this creative and happy community. It made me so happy to see everyone share their stories and poems when no question was provided 🙂

    The Facet ring, the Crystal pendant & the Facet pendant are my favorite pieces.  I love the lines and depth in your designs.  I wish I knew what you’d like to know from the Bright Side community, but instead of answering a question I’ll tell you my favorite city–San Diego.  Downtown city skyscrapers: tall rectangles with triangular prisms on top; the sensuous curve of the Coronado Bridge; the romantic traditionalism of the Balboa Park museums; bungalows, cottages, mediterranean style villas, next to modern and minimalistic beach houses with lots of reflective glass.  When you mentioned roadtrips as a source of inspiration I thought of my favorite city to travel to (I live 4 hrs away from the city and the beaches there that I love) and  of how itself is aesthetically inspiring.  Thanks for helping me to see it in that light!

    At first I thought this was a glitch, but then I read the comments, so I suppose it’s a free-ball answer. So, I will share a poem I wrote:

    I sit at home alone
    With my best clothes on
    Poured two glasses of the finest wine
    Waiting in this endless time

    I dimmed the lights low
    Watched the candles glow
    Listen to the clock tick
    Alone in the darkness I sit

    The thoughts of you begin to race
    My heart beats a faster pace
    I know my unreal love for you is done
    I wait on you to never come

    i love the linear wrap ring, it’s edgy yet classic.

    since there is no prompt, i just wanted to share about my summer holidays (which is sadly coming to a close this week, gulp): most of my friends have been so eager in trying to find internships or part-time jobs, or busy planning meet-ups and dinners with one another. at the start of it, i felt really inadequate because i hadn’t found any job, and subsequently i had to stay at home for at least a month to take care of my mother after her surgery, which led to a mostly domesticated holiday for me. thank God for this time though, i’ve been able to cook more than ever, and that one month which i had with my mum at home has been truly enjoyable! now that i’m in uni and my mum is still working, we don’t really see each other a lot, so being able to spend a whole day together with her, even if we were doing mundane things, was really enjoyable 🙂 in short, treasure your family haha.

    and it’s back to school next week for me! dreading it at the moment because now i just want to stay at home and cook heh :p hope the excitement comes soon!
