The piece of jewelry I own that makes me feel most beautiful is an old Avon ring from my mother. She wore it before I can remember & gave it to me as a teenager. It’s a large oval ring with flowers painted on top and set in costume plated gold. It’s unique & interesting & reminds me of home & always draws a compliment.

The earrings my husband bought me on our honeymoon. They make me remember being so young and in love thinking nothing bad could ever happen. As all couples do we have faced obstacles including cancer but I still love him as much or more than I did then.

I am of Chinese ancestry, and through generations of women my family has passed down some very special pieces of jewelry. The most special one I think is a jade bracelet that my great-grandmother wore before me. It’s a powerful feeling to feel so connected to my family and heritage through a simple jade bracelet, and I will be sure to keep the tradition strong and pass it on to my children’s children!

I know this will be a popular answer but I have to say my engagement and wedding rings. It still baffles me sometimes to think that this amazing man wants to spend his LIFE with me. How could you not feel beautiful when you wear that reminder on your finger?

I have a cheap pair of H&M earrings that I just love. I get complimented on them every time I wear them. No one seems to realize they’re just made of tin!

I know that my answer will match countless others, but it’s my wedding ring. I could be covered in mud with sticks in my hair, be extremely bloated and have the worst allergies in the world making my eyes blod-shot and my nose runny… but looking down at that ring just makes me feel special and loved and beautiful.

The gorgeous piece of jewelry that makes me feel the most beautiful is an opal and diamond ring which my grandfather gave to my grandmother, just because. 🙂 The ring is simple, yet sophisticated – thankfully my grandfather had excellent taste in jewelry.  My grandmother gave it to my mother as a special gift and my sister and I drooled over it our entire childhood – each wondering which of us was going to get it.  Opal is my birthstone and diamond is my sister’s birthstone, so we both felt a strong connection to it.  On the day I graduated from college, my mother gave me the ring – the most amazing gift I could have received!! Recently, my boyfriend saw the ring and asked where it came from, I shared the story and he said, “I just had a vision of our grand-daughter sharing that story with someone who loves her.”  We hadn’t yet discussed our future, but hearing that made my heart soar! So, now when I wear the ring, I think its beautiful past and I think of its beautiful future and I feel beautiful! 🙂

My parents bought me a set of pearls with earrings for my wedding day. Just a simple single strand of real pearls but they are really lovely. I don’t get to wear them often because I never really go anywhere fancy but they make me feel like a treasured woman.

Sad to say, but anything really! I’m a nanny for 4 year old triplet boys, so I don’t wear jewelry to work(playdough is not fun to pick out of a favorite necklace!). On the rare occasion when I do, the boys fuss and fawn over me, telling me how beautiful I  look, what an ego boost! So on the weekends, even a simple pair of earrings or necklace make me feel fancy and beautiful!

I have one of those ‘statement necklaces’ that are a little over-the-top for everyday wear, but my goodness, you should see what it does for my self-confidence when I wear it on an ‘ordinary’ day! I love beautiful pieces of jewellery that stand out on their own and make a woman feel special.

    Sydney VH says:

I don’t think jewelry should MAKE you feel beautiful, because you take it off at the end of the day. Instead, it should remind you of your beauty and to remember the simple things everyday, like my cameo ring from my late grandmother: life is too short to not enjoy it all.

I don’t usually wear much jewelry, but I’ll have to answer like a lot of people that the piece of jewelry that makes me feel the most beautiful is my wedding ring, especially when I wear it with my engagement ring (doesn’t happen that often because the engagement ring pretty big and sparkly so I save it for special occasions). The set was my husband’s grandmother’s (designed by her and her husband using diamonds from her mother’s wedding ring). I love that I can be part of the history of the rings and I love the reminder that my husband wants to spend the rest of his life with me!

A pair of long dangling earrings that are made up of circles and two pieces of smoky topaz. They come down almost to my shoulders and I can feel them swinging without being heavy and pulling when I move. Since I am so aware of them when I wear them, I swing my hair around and it makes me feel flirty and attractive. Plus, when I look in the mirror to put them on I realize that these earrings call for a bit more dramatic makeup and that leads to cat’seye winged eyeliner–and then I feel even more beautiful.

My friend bought me a pair of fake yellow diamond earrings, they are big “rocks” and super sparkly. She told me they are for “first dates”. They are so lovely, I wore them to many dates with my current boyfriend and then just sort of stopped. I think I will start to bring them back out again. They are beautiful and make me feel special.

I was given a pair of exquisite diamond and gold studs. They are so petite and ladylike, when I am the opposite. I am short but not ladylike. I wear a lot of black, not because I like it but because it suits me.  Most days I wear dresses but always have some sort of black somethingorother over top or underneath… But when I’m with a man, and he tucks my thick black hair behind my ear and sees the wee earrings- I always feel like underneath it all I’m somehow quite pretty 🙂

My wedding ring.  I know, I know, not the  most inventive answer, but it is, by far, my favorite piece of jewelry & it does make me feel beautiful.  After all, every time I look at it I remember that no matter how I frumpy I might feel at that moment, a wonderful, extraordinary man thinks I’m the best thing going~*

I have a cross necklace that has evolved through the years. I bought the crystal cross pendant from the basilica in DC while on a field trip with my choir in high school, and picked up a super-cheap silver chain to wear it with. In grad school, my friends’ dog broke that chain and my now-husband (whom I had just started dating) bought me a replacement white gold chain as the first birthday present he ever gave me. After eyeing up plenty of sparkly options, I chose to wear the chain and crystal cross for our wedding day 2 and a half years later. A few years ago, the finding attaching my cross to the chain broke and I hadn’t been able to find anything I liked quite as well to replace it. My husband siezed the opportunity to get me a new small cross made of jade while on a trip to Guatemala a few months later. (The crystal cross hangs out in my change purse, so it’s never far away.)

The evolution of that necklace makes me feel beautiful when I wear it. The high school kid, the newly-dating couple, the bride, the wife, they’re all me. I feel that necklace threads through important times and places in my life. It remains my favorite piece of jewelry (other than my engagement ring, which also has a story!) and I will wear it for years to come, through whatever evolutions remain in it!

Every day I wear a simple pair of pearl earrings. You know, the kind you see hundred of people wearing. I really feel that they do more for me than any other piece of jewelry because they light up my face a little bit and they set the tone for whatever I’m wearing.

I love my big, dangling earrings and I have several pairs that make me feel pretty when I wear them, even when they’re just paired with jeans and a T-shirt. I don’t feel like I have very feminine facial features, but when I put on my big, sparkly earrings they instantly soften my features and make me feel like I’m channeling my inner Edie Sedgwick…she knew how to rock those big earrings!

    Alex says:

My most beautiful pieces of jewelry are my silver finger braces. I have a connective tissue disorder, and they have allowed me to regain the abilities to knit, and hold a pen, and get through the day with less pain. They’re simple and attractive, and strangers frequently stop me to ask where I got them, but I love them because of the freedom they have given me to live more normally.

I have a necklace I got from Jewelmint that I just love. It’s so unique, and I always get compliments on it. It’s a pendant that is based on a Faberge Egg, but it’s really small, and I don’t know, I just really like it! 🙂

    Emma L says:

A pair of black chandelier earrings, found in a box at a yard sale and bought for a song – and then valued by a jeweler to a lot more than a song, and dated to an art deco jewelry firm in the 1920s. They are elegant yet sassy, timeless yet reminescent of a better time and place. When I wear them, I feel like the world slows down a little bit; people start walking more upright, eyes become clearer and shiny, shoulders inch back and spines grow strong… If any earrings on this earth possess magic, these do, and by making the world a more beautiful place, they make me feel my most beautiful as well.

My sister gave me a pair of gold filigree teardrop earrings for Christmas that I just love. They go with practically everything and give me such a confidence boost. They really pull an outfit together and make it look like I put a little more thought into my outfit. But, most importantly, the earrings remind me of my little sister and how we’ve rigged the sibling Christmas gift exchange for the past 4 years so that we get to exchange with each other. So, these earring make me feel beautiful b/c they are gorgeous and full of fun memories of my far away family.

For special occasions I have a little set of a jewelry I like to wear – a pair of earrings that belonged to my maternal grandmother, a ring that belonged to my fraternal grandmother, and a ring that was my mom’s as a child (given to her by her mom). When I wear this jewelry, I feel so connected to the women in my family and it makes me glow. My grandmothers were not rich but had excellent taste and confidence.

For my wedding in May, I made an ivory and gold necklace from the lace on my mother’s wedding dress. Now that the wedding has come and gone, I still love wearing my necklace. It looks just as good with a t-shirt as it did with my dress and it’s a lovely reminder of such a wonderful day.

When I was 11, my mom gave me a gold ring with a coral and ivory cameo on it. Her own mother had given it to her. It didn’t fit me at the time, but i wear it all the time now. To me it symbolizes strength and good character, so wearing it makes me feel beautiful.
