Textiles. The word alone elicits such a visceral response, don’t you think? The simplest way to take any space and turn it into a work of art with warmth and emotion and life is to choose the right textiles. From rugs to pillows to throws, the layered look of pattern and fabric has the power to transform a simple and plain space into a home. Our love affair with gorgeous textiles here at the BSP is no secret and since we’re still focusing our attention on all of the things we “heart” it just seemed necessary to add some tangible beauty to the mix!
Filling Spaces is a one stop destination for beautiful texture, color, and vibrancy. Operated by Deepali Kalia, Filling Spaces collaborates with interior designers and clients to find the perfect mix of personality and luxury in regard to home furnishings. The bedding alone is enough to make me want to stay home all day in my personal retreat. From pillows to window coverings, Filling Spaces has everything you need to bring the inspiration back into your house. We (most definitely) heart it!

what a great pillow!! my house is a crazy mish mash of a bunch of small rooms. I like the kitchen because it is open to the rest of the house, has a dark blue ceiling and a space above the upper cabinets to display things. its a small room, but I have a lot of goodies on top of those cabinets.

Oh, for me it’s easy, I only have one room and it’s my favourite! I live in an 20sq.m. studio so I only have one room and a separate tiny bathroom. But hey, I quite like having everything in one area, from the kitchen to the lounge to my workspace, after a while one gets used to it and these days I don’t really see the point of bigger living spaces.

I live in a townhouse, so we don’t have many rooms….My favorite room is my bedroom! Because there’s where I do lots of my lesson planning, creating examples for projects, and lots of reading! It’s a small room…but I enjoy being in it.

My favorite room in my house is oddly the stairwell. I have old stairs, a beautiful hardwood railing and endless possibilities!! I can’t wait to realize it’s potential.

I love the kitchen – in any house. Its the room where people always seem to congregate, following the smells of food wafting throughout the house. I love it when friends and family crowd into even the tiniest kitchen, perched on countertops or sitting on the floor if it means they all get to be together 🙂

My favorite space of the entire house would have to be my children room! It is the only room that has plenty of natural light and even on the days without the sunshine- its still bright and cheery- pure happiness ! it gives me the energy I need and also carry some mystical calmness that I love!

Our family room , it faces south and gets wonderful light and when we moved in we took down the wall between it and the kitchen. We have spent countless family hours there , playing games, watching movies, roasting marshmallows, reading. I have to mention the Hello   Beautiful pillow on your website just prior to seeing it I was telling my girls about a former colleague who always greeted me that way it made my smile every time 🙂

I live in a small apartment, so my bedroom is also my sewing room.  Although I love my bed with its cozy bedding, I love the “section” that is my “sewing room.”  I have this beautiful long oak corner desk and cabinet that original was made by my father for my mother, and it sat in her sewing room for 25 years until she recently made some updates.  No wanting the lovely cabinet to go to waste, I asked for it.  How could I give up something so meaningful?  The table that I learned to sew at, spent hours with my mother who taught me a craft that I now love and adore, and would be truly lost without.  It is the place I go as soon I walk in the door, for an hour, just to retreat from the world, and be a creative person–to make something out of what others see as a plain piece of cloth.  What isn’t to love about a space that makes me feel that way!

We live in a small apartment, but I love our family room because it sees all the action. Although it may get the messiest, it’s also where we make memories. It’s where I play on the floor with my rowdy 3 year old and 1 year old. It’s where we eat with family and friends and laugh until the walls shake. In the warmth of a single lamp, It’s where my husband and I settle down at night after the kids are down. And in the rare, quiet moment, it’s where I curl up in a corner and read a good book.

My husband and I are in the middle of a move right now, so any room not crammed with boxes is currently my favorite. However, my all-time favorite room is the kitchen. I have such happy memories spending time with my mom in the kitchen – singing, dancing, and occasionally cooking. The kitchen is the heart of every home.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard of Filling Spaces before – what a gorgeous collection! My favourite room in our 200-year old house in Goa is the dining room because it has the most lovely view of the Mandovi river. Of course, the antique wooden floors, enormous mirrors, old furniture (and piles of toys everywhere) make it a special place, and one that is used all the time.

My husband and I are currently renting, so our space isn’t as personalized as we’d wish. But my favorite room is my sewing “lair.” I’m a seamstress by trade and I love creating beautiful things to give to other people.

My kitchen – it’s small, but it’s where I make yummy food, it’s where friends seem to gather, and when the morning sunlight streams through the window it’s pretty magical.

My favorite room in the house is our bedroom. We have no TV and no computer in there, and it’s just our quiet space to read, talk, sleep, and do other bedroom-type activities. It’s the place where we connect most and best, in all senses.

My favorite room has always been my bedroom. It’s my sanctuary. It’s where I go to relax, be still, reflect and to recharge. I not only sleep in my bedroom but I journal, I read and there is always sexy time to look fwd to! I also must say that my husband is awesome because he puts up with me calling it MY ROOM when in fact it’s ours 🙂
