{shop :: Facebook :: Twitter}

The very concept of “Endless Summer” is one of abundance. It is a time to focus our energy on the good things in life and prolong them for as long as we possibly can. That, my dear friends, is why I am so excited to bring you today’s contributor. A long time favorite of ours, Friedasophie, is back to spread sunshine and keep the very idea of summer strong and warm in our lives.

Friedasophie is a San Francisco based designer, specializing in sustainable gems and stones. When combined with 14k gold filled metals, there is something so inherently luxurious and authentic about each piece that you feel like you are wearing your personality on your body. I have always been a huge fan of gem stones and find that wearing them as jewelry makes me feel more grounded, more stationed, more colorful. This Midnight Goldstone Star Necklace has been in the top five on my wishlist for longer than I care to admit. (Perhaps I should treat myself one these days!) And this Amethyst Stalactite Necklace? Sigh. It is far too gorgeous for my mere words. Friedasophie is a gem, to be sure.

Friedasophie is giving away one Green Garnet Nugget Necklace to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, September 19th.
Please visit Friedasophie and tell us: What is your favorite gemstone? Is it your birthstone?
Start checking the winner’s box on Monday, September 23rd, to see if you’ve won!

I LOVE the Friedasophie shop, I’ve always found her sensbility so delicate and the stones are just breathtaking. I do wish more of the jewelry was available in a silver option, though, since I don’t care for yellow gold personally.

My favorite gemstone does happen to be my birthstone, opal. When my husband and I were first thinking about engagement rings, we considered getting an opal stone (we’re both October babies, actually!), but were advised that the stone was too soft to be used in an everyday piece. My husband ended up designing the most spectacular marquise diamond ring with my family jeweler from back home, which I couldn’t possibly love more. A few years later, his mom was in Australia for a work trip and she got me an opal ring (not sure if she remembered it was our birthstone, because I think opal just happens to be a popular stone there) which coincidentally is basically the opal version of my engagement ring (same shape, same offset setting), which I think she also didn’t even think about. So now I actually have my opal ring in my perfect style, though I’m so paranoid about the stone being too soft that I only wear it on special occasions.

My birthstone is Topaz but it is not my favorite. I really love Sapphires and I have one on my wedding ring. There is something mysterious and dazzling to me about the rich blue color. It brings to mind antique glass bottles and mermaid lagoons.

My jewelry box looks like a rainbow. I adore each and every stone! My birthstone is a diamond, which is great because it goes with everything. But I do enjoy the pop of color that other stones offer.

Growing up I was not a fan of turquoise, my birthstone.  Now I absolutely love it and appreciate how each piece is different.  I have a chunky turquoise necklace from my late grandmother that I love and throw on whenever I need a little boost <3

I love all gems but at the moment I love blue topaz. Love the different color variations. The blue just reminds me of the ocean water or the blue sky. When I wear them it makes me feel happy. My birthstone is pearls for June and I love them too.

While my birthstone is peridot, and been pleased that it was green, I’ve always preferred emerald for its deeper tones… And it never helped that my brother got it for his stone! Green envy? Lol.   Turquoise I love too, and unlike emerald, I own a bit of it, including a positively amazing Navajo ring that was my grandmother’s.  now, my turquoise doubles as mother’s jewelry because of my daughter.  Birthstone harmony restored, maybe?

This necklace looks peridot.  Is green garnet truly another stone, or just an alternate name for the same stone?

Aquamarine, my mother’s birthstone.  I love it!! I love the color, and how the raw pieces have such an earthy quality and the cut and polished pieces are so elegant and shining.  I used to wish it was my birthstone too, probably because I wanted to be grownup and beautiful just like her.  Now I enjoy and appreciate peridot, my birthstone too, but I always still gravitate to aquamarine because it makes me think of her.

I’ve always loved emerald, sapphire, & ruby. My birthstone is turquoise I believe. I find myself attracted to darker, richer colors.

That jewelry is gorgeous! I think the necklace in the giveaway is a great piece. I also liked the orchid flower design but I wish it was a necklace as I don’t have my ears pierced.

    Bubbles says:

My favorite stone is the peridot, which also happens to be my birthstone. The brilliant green which is sort of lime, sort of chartreuse, and can be so well cut that it seems to be as deep as the ocean makes me feel beautiful every single time I wear my earrings, neclaces, bracelet and ring.

All of the pieces here are gorgeous and I would bed proud to own any of them!!!!! Guess I’ll start saving up!!!

    Kadi says:

I’m afraid my favorite gemstone is not my birthstone – I’ve never really connected with the garnet. However, my husband and I married last Winter and decided to forego the traditional diamond. We wanted something a little more “us” and honestly didn’t have the money to spend on a super expensive ring. Instead, we picked out (together) a small sapphire for my ring. It’s super simple – just the stone. We got two bands with itty bitty diamonds in them to go on either side of the ring to accompany the sapphire after the ceremony. He told me that we’d replace it one day when we had the money, but I don’t think I’m ever going to allow that. It’s sweet and simple – the stone is moody, elegant, subtle, and understated – I love it.
