{please visit Gallant and Jones here}

I don’t know about you, buy my Good Life involves a large dose of uninterrupted time spent lounging outdoors with sunshine, a perfectly mild breeze and a good book. Oh, let’s not forget a minimum of one hour of solitude. Bliss. Yet, have you tried spending this one hour on a concrete slab with only a thin blanket? (I don’t recommend it.) No, dear readers, the perfect afternoon relaxing outdoors has one major requirement: the perfect lounge chair.

Enter our friends, Gwyneth Jones Parks and Tamra Gallant Devine of Gallant and Jones. After a vacation where she was inspired by the amazing deck chairs to be found across beaches and boardwalks, Devine teamed up with Parks and they started handcrafting wooden chairs, utilizing their woodworking and textile design skills. After finding a manufacturer with the same high standard of eco-responsibility and craftsmanship, Gallant and Jones has expanded their brand to include stools, trays, and quite possibly the most amazing tents I have ever seen in my life. Honestly, I feel like my backyard is naked without The Wilderness tent. Throw in a couple of deck chairs and my day is…well, made.

Gallant and Jones is giving away one Traditional Outdoor Deck Chair (with matching pillow) in Red with White Spots to one lucky reader! To enter to win, please answer the following question by Tuesday, July 31st. Comments now closed…good luck!

    some days it is that first bite on the perfect slice of pizza.  some days it is just that 30 minutes of complete quiet before anyone else wakes up.  some days it is the few minutes in the shower after a long day.  every day though… i have complete joy in seeing a smile on one of my kids’ faces or having the chance to be there to see a moment that they understand or realize something they have been trying to figure out.  It comes in different ways to me almost every day.  But I sure love it when it’s here 🙂

    This afternoon I plan to sneak away from my job (which is very boring, but I’m happy to have it) and read a book (currently I’m reading a memoir about a woman’s experience with schizophrenia) for 15 minutes in the sunshine. Oh joy!

    Getting complimented by my boyfriend on my new shorts. It has been the most annoying several months struggle to find a pair of cute comfortable shorts that are longer than a diaper but not down to my knees. Then yesterday I came across a pair that I thought would work and wearing them today was the final test. Without any nudging from me my bf said “New shorts? They look really good on you.” It’s really the small silly things like a compliment that bring unexpected  joy. It also makes me want to keep hitting the gym so my legs can look even nicer in my new shorts.

    My joy is tinged with sadness right now. I am excited to return home in a couple days after 9 months overseas… to see my family and friends again, my home, my brand new niece. But it is incredibly hard to leave this beautiful place that has been my home and even harder to leave such good friends. I am lucky to have joy in so many places.
