{shop :: Facebook}

Little known fact: I am obsessed with bath towels. Well, this obsession crosses over into bedding and kitchen linens as well, but let’s focus on one thing at a time.) I am a firm believer that the right towel will change your day. Think about it. You use your towels every single day. You start your day with them, end the day with them. So they should make you feel good, right? (Talk about planting the seed for a great day.) Trouble is, most terry towels don’t absorb well and remain damp. Tell me I’m not the only one who struggles with this.

Enter JoAnne Chirico and goodlinens. Struggling with the same issues, Chirico actually did something about it and used her lifelong experience with sewing and her knowledge of textiles to create a linen towel that absorbs easier, dries quicker, takes up less space, and exfoliates your skin gently. As if these reasons alone weren’t enough to sway you, the textiles at goodlinens are gorgeously handcrafted and get better with age. Find the gorgeous texture you like and transform yourself, from the morning on. goodlinens has your back, after all.

goodlinens is giving away one set of black two-ply stripe 100% linen towels including a bath towel, a hand towel, and a wash cloth for one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, April 22nd.
Please visit goodlinens and tell us: What is your requirement for a bath towel? Is it all about softness, color palette, texture?

    I love a soft that is soft, light weight and actually absorbs water. I’d love to try a linen towel. I have a few linen tea towels and they are really more of a treat item for me!

    I also feel like a good towel changes your day! For me, it’s more along the lines of being put into a mindful state when I notice something awesome. An exceptionally soft and absorbent towel brings me back to the present and sets me up for a morning of noting and appreciating lovely things.

    I love linen because it absorbs water better than cotton. It’s really annoying when super soft cotton towels don’t absorb anything yet cost an insane amount.

    how lovely! a good towel is an amazing thing that we tend to take for granted. until, that is, we have an awful towel and you just don’t feel clean or dry or happy.

    I have always loved linen, it is my favorite fabric but I have never used linen towels. I dislike most towels because they either leave lint behind or stay always damp.

    I agree a towel had to have certain qualities …and these goodlinens sound wonderful!

    My ideal bath towel is absorbent, soft, machine-washable, and made from natural materials.  If it is beautiful, too, so much the better!

    My requirements for a bath towel have less to do with appearance and more with functionality. Big, comfy and absorbent! The one I mostly use now I have had so long I don’t remember getting it!

    I am very particular about my towels! I like a huge beach size towel tow wrap around me twice and a small thin towel for my hair. A towel is essentially like another outfit…I wear it for a while after my shower!

    Amy H says:

    I need a big, absorbent towel: that’s the most important thing!  I want to be dry, dry, dry as soon as I towel off — but I don’t want a dripping towel because I like to dance around the house in it for a little longer than is reasonable (and when I say dance, I mean /dance/… sometimes when I’m too enthusiastic with my towel dancing it can result in an embarrassing situation… oops!).

    I need it to be soft so it is absorbent enough. I don’t like the prickly, thin hotel towels. Big, plush, comfy is where it’s at! 🙂

    Texture is important, and not only that it absorbs water but also that it dries out hanging on the wall later through the day!  I also want towels to be attractive and I love having a big basket of different sizes and colors in the bathroom that look good together and are available for whatever need (hands, face, body, feet, wiping up water from the counter, snapping someone for fun, etc.).  Linen towels sound lovely and I like them in the kitchen  but have never tried them in the bathroom, how fabulous!

    Absorbency!! But of course it’s got to look pretty hanging in the bathroom! Also it would be GREAT to have a towel that didn’t get that stinky towel smell!

    The perfect bath towel must be:
    1) the right color – it must match the bathroom;
    2) my be soft enough not to scratch, but not so soft it doens’t absorb;
    3) must smell fress;
    4) should be warm.

    I want it to absorb a lot of water because my kids spill a lot.  Nice colors that are gender neutral  so it can be displayed and can be used by boys or girls.

    Needs to be soft and absorb water well.  The towels in my house do not match so much the decor as my children’s personalities – they each picked out their own : )  I do have a few nice ones for guests though.  A linen towel set would be a luxury.

    Beauty and that intrinsic quality of time. I detest mass-produced things and want to surround me with things that have meaning, represent thoughtfulness in their creation, and make me feel connected to the world (and not with a huge factory). It is difficult to find that in towels to say the least, so I am thrilled to have discovered Goodlinens here today. <3

    What an amazing idea! I have to say that my current selection of towels (all bright colored stripes and polka dots) have everything to do with looks. Sometimes I just need that bright, cheery vibe in the morning to greet the day with a smile.

    ELIZA ELLIOT says:

    I go for color first since I like them to match – then softness and if they have a bigger size then that too. =)

    Elizabeth says:

    I have always been DEEPLY affected by texture. (As a young child, I would occasionally throw up if I touched something synthetic like a piece of foam.) That being said, the most important thing to me in a towel is that it is made of natural materials that my body can be nourished by. I’m allergic to most things that are “good” for my skin – like aloe and vitamin E – so it must be soothing and not dry out my skin. Other than that, I like a little pattern here and there. I mean, beauty is beauty, right? 🙂

    Monica Borge says:

    I get laughed at all the time for my finickiness of choosing a bath towel. It has to be on the thinner side but still be able to absorb well. I don’t like soft towels and they need to be pretty wide because I am tall and long legged and like to walk around the house in my towel after a shower so a short towel doesn’t bode well for coverage. There you go, my ideal towel.

    Renee A. says:

    Of course it has to be soft on my skin first and then it also has to look pretty to hang on my towel  rack and last, but not least, strong and absorbent so it will last a while.

    first criterion: must be absorbent! we’ve got many kitchen towels that just don’t dry very well and it’s very frustrating, so i’m glad my bath towels are way more absorbent, as towels should be.

    second criterion: i guess it’s all about texture next! i still have some towels that i’ve been using since i was a child (which wasn’t that long ago), and they’re sooo thin (albeit still absorbent) and no longer as plushy before, which makes me sad 🙁 really plushy towels are a luxury though (like in hotels), so i’m content with having mine be less plus and less heavy as well. my family’s really practical though, so since our towels are still intact (no holes and whatever) we won’t change them… yet.

    bonus: smells fresh and clean! i’m glad we use fabric softener in the laundry, it helps everything smell fabulous. colours don’t really matter to me since all our bath towels are somewhat colour-coded: being the daughter of the family i use yellow or pink, whereas my brother’s tends to be blue or green. my parents have their own matching sets eg. embroidered with ‘his’ and ‘hers’, and my grandma’s has prints, so we never get mix-ups!

    Great question. Just this last year I purchased my first set of “adult” towels, where it wasn’t just an amalgam of hand-me-downs and ones I used in my college dorm (what color are these now? eh…..). And I confess I wandered in the store for hours, feeling each towel, sifting through colors. I ended up getting some pretty thick teal towels, but they are not what I was hoping for. Epic fail. I haven’t met a towel that holds up. That absorbs, warms, covers. I would like to meet that towel. And love it forever.
