Giveaway :: Grace

Spring means a new bag. Granted, many of you might have different bags you rotate on any given day. I, however, am not one of those people. I tend to stick with one main bag and then switch it out when I feel that bag has run its course. (Full disclosure: these “courses” sometimes can run over a year. Eek.) There is no quicker way to renew the way you feel about your life than to take all of your daily essentials and put them in a fresh new bag. So simple, but so true. Trust me.

Alison Gledhil of Grace creates the kind of bags that make an outfit. Although they are statement pieces in and of themselves, these are the type of bags that absolutely make you feel like you have your life in control; that you are ready for whatever the day takes you. For you clutch lovers, please let me direct you to the Stella Leather and Kimono Clutch. Stunning is too simple of a word. As for my next daily bag, I’m absolutely head over heels in love with this one. Did you hear that? That’s my heart; reawakened, replenished, renewed.

i beat my bags up, so first i must start with the bag.  i rotate between 2 washable canvas baggu bucket bags.  inside they carry my equally beaten-up little otsu planner (lart c. berliner edition), a set of bamboo utensils, my trusty opinel no. 8 pocket knife, a marimekko stuff bag (lipstick, chapstick, dental floss, bobby pins, etc), my pencil pouch, a small notebook to catch my fleeting thoughts, my sunnies (steve mcqueen persol in tortise), and mason jar of water, and whatever else i might need for any busy adventure-full day!

A notebook always goes with me. Not only does it save my own ideas, but it comes in handy to entertain my toddler when all else fails. I have art in my notebook now – cats, dogs, trains. And fledgling alphabet.

You’ll occasionally find Pinocchio or a mini-Thomas the tank engine too. Surprises are the key to a mama’s sanity.

I always carry a small plastic baby monkey. I’m not typically superstitious, but I give him a kiss when I need a little boost of luck or mood! It’s hard to take anything too seriously when you’re kissing a monkey toy.

  22. 22

Tissues, a Moleskine, hand lotion and my childhood dog’s tags.

  23. 23
    Shanna says:

A small notebook and pen. I also keep a piece of glass, one of many pieces my good friend found at the top of Tanner Butte after our two day hike, and was given to me about a year later. Those were two of the best days of my life, and the piece of glass reminds me to be calm and appreciative.

  27. 27

A note from my 6 year old son that reads,”I love you
the best.”  and a self portrait my 5 year old son made…
Even though they sometimes drive me nuts, just looking
at their handy work always brings sunshine to my day

An umbrella. You never know when it will rain.

    Amelie says:

I always keep my favorite fortune cookie prediction in my purse.  The ragged little slip of paper reads, “Don’t pursue happiness; create it.”  This has been my life mantra for a couple years, and keeping it when I can easily glance at it reminds me of my great capacity for happiness.

    Lauren says:

I was 11 when my parents divorced and I had a really hard time being separated from both my mom and dad. As a way to make myself feel better, I carried something from each of them (and my sister) at all times. I’m 28 now and what I carry has changed through the years (at one point I had a magazine ad for my mom’s perfume and a keychain from one of my dad’s many travels), but I always keep some part of them with me in my bag.

  32. 32
    Jenni says:

I never go anywhere without a good book. I love taking a few spare moments in my day to get lost in a tale. Having my book on me has helped me to have a little escape anytime I need it. Without a story to read I just feel naked! 🙂

  33. 33

My first lucky penny.  When I was a little girl I found a penny and my mother told me not to lose it because it was good luck, so I held on to that penny and it went everywhere with me.  When I would get nervous I would take it out, rub it and pray for things to work out.  To this day I keep it in the inside pocket of whatever purse I carry.

  34. 34
    Nancy S says:

My Ipod Touch – I can’t live without all the lists I’ve created on it – oh, and chapstick. It’s in my purse & my pocket!

  35. 35
    Ana M says:

Sunglasses, makeup bag, chapstick and lotion 🙂

  36. 36
    Beverly says:

I always have Burt’s Bees chapstick (I’m so hooked!), a book, a small notebook and a pen. A book is a great way to pass the time when waiting at a bus stop, and I think it’s more substantial than surfing the internet on a smart phone. You also never know when you’ll need a notebook and a pen, to jot down notes, ideas, reminders, etc.

  37. 37

Usually a pen and lip balm.  Every now and then I change purses and discover 18 lip glosses or lip balms in there!

  38. 38
    Rachel says:

Thanks for the great giveaway!  I’m old school and I still use a pen and paper planner instead of a digital one.  It goes everywhere with me!
Every year I enjoy shopping around for the perfect one.  It feels so fresh to start a new year and a new planner.
