{please visit gigi new york here – and graphic image here}

Am I the only one who hangs up the large tote bags as soon as the weather warms up? Granted, for days spent at the park or the beach a tote is a necessity. Rather, I’m talking about those evenings spent with some strappy sandals and a mojito. When the weather calls for a sundress, the arm calls for a clutch. (Please tell me I’m not alone in this.) The perfect summer adornment is, literally, right at your fingertips.

Our friends at Graphic Image have updated their sophisticated Gigi New York line with a collection of summer adornments. I am a firm believer that the right handbag can absolutely change your mood and these new bags are no exception. Seamlessly making the transition from day to night and erasing the line between casual and dressy, these new clutches embody the spirit of adornment with grace and sophistication and panache. Graphic Image has done it again.

    An ex (2009) and I went to town one night with his friends. One friend said “There is something about you….”… Ex said “What do you mean?”.. Friend said, “Well it’s not her hair… Maybe her eyes? Maybe the voice… No, it’s nothing to do with appearance… I don’t know”… Ex said “She sparkles”

    I will never forget it. I tell myself that I sparkle, all the time.

    “Everything I know about [specific academic topic], I have learned from you.”

    Said by an incredibly well-respected and influential professor to me. I will always remember how happy it made me, and how much the compliment made my heart glow. When a giant in your academic discipline says he has learned from YOU, a graduate student, you know that your research matters and that the thousands of hours in the library were worth it.

    The best compliment I ever received was just the other day. I went to an art festival with my kids, and there was a kids craft booth, so I took my kids over and sat down with them to do some projects. We sat there for awhile doing some different crafts and just talking and having fun. The young lady running the booth turned to me and said, “you are a really amazing mother”. I almost started crying, I was so touched by her comment. It made my day. 🙂
