We hope you have enjoyed our month-long journey into wanderlust and all that it represents. We hope you feel inspired to make your mark on the world around you. We hope you feel the need to travel, to make a change, to occasionally step out of your comfort zone so that coming home is that much sweeter. We hope you spread your wings and open your heart to all of the possibilities laid out before you both on the road less traveled and on the well-worn path. In honor of our finale this month, we want to introduce you to a company that embodies everything we love about wanderlust (and beyond.)
The brother/sister duo of Christian and Carmin Black founded HALF UNITED three years ago with the idea to giving back and helping those in need through the perfect marriage of humanitarianism and fashion. The way it works is simple: for every purchase you make from HALF UNITED, half of the proceeds go to NGO (non-governmental organization) partners who fight world hunger. But let’s talk about the fashion, shall we? The Original Fighting Hunger necklace is an absolute favorite of mine for two reasons: aesthetics and metaphors. Not only are these necklaces simply gorgeous and clean, they also represent taking something discarded and generally seen as negative and turning it into a statement about beauty and worth and perspective. Besides, when it comes to ending world hunger, shouldn’t we just collectively bite the bullet and do it already? There is nothing more inspiring about visiting the world (either physically or virtually) than knowing we have the ability to change it.
