Giveaway :: Janet Brown Studios

{shop :: Facebook :: Twitter}

This has been the summer of sand and salt. This was a decision I made once I realized the cooler nights and shorter days would be here before I knew it and I would be regretting the things I wish I had done rather than reminiscing those that I had. This is the crux of it, don’t you think? Realizing in the moment that you need to be more aware, more present, more active. That you want to take the journey and you want to remember it. This is why I decorate my home with things that speak to me, that help me remember. I purposely surround myself with beauty.

Janet Brown Studios creates beauty from a pure, passionate place. Janet Brown says it perfectly herself:

My classic pillows reflect traditional times of togetherness. I strive to capture the memory of journeys to popular places as well as adventures throughout our lives. I find that we often share universal feelings in reflections of our favorite destinations and I design my pillows to echo those collective sentiments.

Brown’s designs celebrate the sunshine in a way that can only be described as perfection.

Janet Brown Studios is giving away one Day at the Beach story pillow. It’s 15” square and has navy piping around the edges. To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, July 30th.  Comments now closed…good luck!
Please visit Janet Brown Studios and tell us: Are you a beach or mountain person? Somewhere in between?

Where as I like both places, I would probably say I am more of a mountain person.

i am most definitely a beach person, although i prefer a more rugged beach, not a sun worshipper beach.

No question – I am a beach girl all the way! Nothing in the world puts me in a better mood or solves all of my problems like laying in the sun and listening to the surf. I guarantee that heaven is a beach!

Beach.  My whole body feels alive when swimming in the foamy surf.  I love the balmy air. I love watching my family play smashball and boogie board.  I love how snacks taste better at the beach and magazines are more interesting.  I love the late afternoon sun over the west coast.  I love walking along the boardwalk at night.

I am a beach girl through and through.  Nothing gives me more peace than closing my eyes, feeling the sand, and listening to the waves.  Ahhh….dreaming of it now…

Having experienced both the mountains and the beach, I’m definitely a beach person! I love the sun, wind, sound of the ocean waves, the sand, listening to people laugh on the beach, reading under the shade, snorkeling in the water….I have too many memories associated with the beach.

I love these pillows. I just subscribed to her blog. Although our trips to the White Mountains are wonderful, I’m still a beach lover at heart. It’s just so relaxing 🙂

I love the beach! It’s so relaxing either to walk on the beach or just sit and watch the waves, or watch people flying their kites, or playing with their dogs. Then there is always the beautiful sunsets. I never get tired of the beach, even it is stormy. There are so many positives about the beach! 🙂

I am a beach person! I was born in CA and after moving all over for years as a kid, an never anywhere near a beach, I finally found my way back to the (east) coast!

Please do not tell my mother.  I love the beach.  I know, I know.  I am from Montana.  I know, I know, I carry heavy things around and love the clear, clean air.   But my whole life I’ve dreamt of having a beautiful home on a cliff high above the ocean.  I’m working on it:  I’ve made it to a one hour drive from the ocean.

despite coming from sunny singapore, and in spite of almost falling off a mountain side once (when our coach almost slid off the ice down the side of the mountain, but that’s another story), i’m very much a mountain person! spending so much effort to reach the summit just makes the air that much cleaner, and the views that much more beautiful 🙂

    Michelle Elizabeth says:

I love the beach, but the sand always kills my dreams with its annoying habit of getting in all my things. And I love the mountains, but I always end up as mosquito food.
So I’d say I’m a city girl who loves to take vacations to both places!

    sara says:

I enjoy the mountains, but I love love love the beach.  My idea of the perfect afternoon is falling asleep on the sand under the umbrella.  ahhhh….

I am in the middle! I love the beach and the mountains both so much!

    Tiffany says:

I’m the somewhere in-between type. Luckily I live in a place that allows for me to enjoy both (WASHINGTON!). We have both the mountains and the ocean just a couple of hours away. I do however like to escape to WARM beaches now and then. Our beaches are beautiful, but I’m not going to lie…they are cold. So a warm sandy beach in a color other than grey is welcomed when on vacation.

    Sydney says:

Sea creatures scare me and snow always has the way of making its way inside my coat. So if I could be a sit-on-the-porch-sipping-wine-with-average-temperature type of girl, that would be stated on my tombstone!

    Melinda KE says:

Would it be weird if I said that I’m more of a beach person even though I don’t know how to swim and I haven’t been in a bathing suit in almost two decades? Ha! Even though I don’t swim I still prefer the calmness of the beach… the sound of waves crashing, warm sand under my feet and the seagulls happily making noise while they circle around the water. Walking along a quiet beach and getting lost in your thoughts is pure bliss.

  24. 24
    Hedy says:

So hard to choose! I love both for their unique qualities. I love living at the beach and visiting the mountains. Nothing beats being outside in general, whether it be to breathe in the salty sea air or the woodsy scent of trees!

    ELIZA ELLIOT says:

Mountain girl all the way – love the cold nights and the crisp air. so refreshing.

  26. 26
    Peyton Daniels says:

It’s funny, actually, since I live in the mountains. Yet I so dislike them. I am defiantly a beach person! I love the water, the sand, the sun and everything about it (except the jelly-fish). I love looking out into the sea – it boggles my mind, the vast expanse.

  27. 27
    Rin Vi says:

I’m somewhat in-between. I do like the beach; snorkeling and taking romantic walks along the beach (cliche?) are just so fun! But a verdant mountain, with yards and yards of green fields as far as the eye can see, with a background of the azure sky, is just so calming.

    lotte says:

Though I’ve never been in the mountains, I’d say I’m a mountain person. But I love the beach too.. The sand and the sea makes me happy! Hm.. I think I’m somewhere in between.

    Brittany K says:

100% beach. there is nothing like relaxing (safely) in the sun with the sound of the water. Plus I don’t like bugs. Or mountain lions.

    CeeCee says:

What a tough choice! Sojourns to the mountains and the beach are two of my absolute favorites. If forced to choose, it must be the beach. The smell of the surf and tranquil lapping of the waves transport me back to the many wonderful childhood vacations of yesteryear. Sometimes a little bit of nostalgia is just what’s needed to keep moving forward in life!

  31. 31
    Emily B says:

Both! I grew up on Boston’s South Shore, but then I have spent the last 10 years living in the Rocky Mountains and I love the variety each provides. You can find beauty anywhere (even in the dirt corner of OK where I now live!)

  32. 32
    Susan F says:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ~ the Beach and Ocean rejuvenate my soul, my favorite place to be ~ rain or shine.   I am thankful to live close enough to hop in my car and take a 20 minute drive on a last minute whim.

  33. 33
    Charlotte D. says:

Love both. Love the sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean. But there is something to be said about climbing to the top of the mountain and feeling you did it!
