{please visit Jillian Rene Decor here}

We all know that home is where the heart is. And all good things come from the heart. So it only makes sense to acknowledge that “The Good Life” begins at home. One of the easiest ways to ensure “The Good Life” is to honor your environment. Your home base should be the perfect reflection of the things you love, the beauty you respond to, and the inspiration that keeps you moving. For me, my couch is the hub. I have a bit of an obsession with throw pillows and find that mixing and matching pillows I love always pulls together my environment in a way that makes me feel more at home than anything else. To this end, I am constantly on the search for the perfect throw pillows to add to my collection. This isn’t as easy as one might think.

Thank the good life for Jillian Carmine! An interior designer by trade, Carmine of Jillian Rene Decor creates chic and sophisticated pillows to add just the right touch of color and finesse to your home. Her passion for handcrafting something beautiful shines through each and every piece and her bright and cheerful aesthetic adds the perfect pop of sunshine to any couch or chair or corner that needs it. The Mustard Yellow Felt Flower and the Yellow Billy Ball Flower Bouquet Pillow are sort of screaming to be added to my collection. (Did you hear them, too?) Add a piece from Jillian Rene Decor and watch your good life come alive!

    When I was a poor college student I stumbled across a quick-serve coffee table/ pop-up bar from 1955. I paid twenty dollars for it and it has been the centerpiece of everyone of my living spaces since. I eve carted it across the Atlantic ocean!

    I have a little round victorian style curio table in my living room that was passed down in my family from my great grandmother. The bottom is solid wood and it has tall legs that the tabletop is perched on. The best part of it is that it has a glass top and the sides are made of curved pieces of glass. I have it filled with special treasures from that grandmother, and a few pieces i’ve gotten along the way. I remember when I was little and would visit her house. I always loved staring into that table and seeing all of her special treasures laid out on display. 🙂

    This vintage cage shaped like a hot air balloon that hangs over my desk. I stare at it as it spins and procrastinate…

    It would most definitely have to be this glass doored cabinet we recently refinished for our little boy’s nursery: http://honeysuckleblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/nursery-statement-piece.html

    My cedar chest. It was given to me when I graduated from high school-filled with heirlooms, including a quilt my great grandma started and my mom finished.

    My bed! It’s the place where I can relax, read, eat breakfast on Sundays, cry when I feel blue, write my journal, watch the sunrise and make love with my husband!

    I never thought I would say this, but…my couch!  Let me say it’s not the prettiest couch (i’ve been told it looks like a granny couch), but it is the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on. Ever. The material is so soft and warm, it has plenty of cushion in all the right places, and it has a high back so I can lean back and completely relax. My dad bought it for me almost 15 years ago, and I see it being in my future for many more years down the road…perhaps with an upholstery job at some point! Ha!

    My favorite piece of furniture is a curio cabinet that used to belong to my husband’s grandparents. It’s currently in my upstairs hallway being used to display pottery that I’ve made.

    My bed! It is nothing special but it is the most important and beloved piece of furniture in my apartment – without it, I would be a grumpy, sore, irritated person; precisely the kind of sleepdeprived person I would not want to become!

    An antique lamp that belonged to my grandmother, then my parents, and now me. The base is a delicate bronze woman entwined with vines. It is so unique and full of memories and I love the character it brings to every place I have lived.

    My favorite piece of furniture is an old desk made for a child or lady in the early 1900’s/ It’s my favorite because it was my Grammy’s. She left it to me and I had to wait until we had a house to put it in. I have it with the matching chair (she got this set as a teenager) in my bedroom with some of her things as well as tiny pictures and something my kids made me when they were little. It’s very comforting:)

    My dining room table.

    I haven’t had a real one ever until recently, and it may be from craigslist and it may also be in the living room because we have no dining room, but it’s a set and it’s beautiful and I love it.
