Jewelry is one of those things that has a purpose. I am a firm believer that the last things we choose to put on before we leave the house have a direct correlation to the type of day we are going to have. Accessories are the way we connect to the world around us via our hearts and our souls. We style ourselves based on how we see ourselves reflected in the world around us.

Angela Delarmente creates wearable pieces of art through her line, Knuckle Kiss Jewelry. These are the kinds of pieces that you find yourself grabbing before you leave the house because you just plain don’t feel complete without them. Friends, I cannot tell you how happy my heart feels when I look at the Half Moon Dimensional Necklace and the Malachite Double Ring. It is a feeling I wish I could bottle. Although, better yet, I can wear them. Knuckle Kiss Jewelry is the key.

Knuckle Kiss Jewelry is giving away one pair of  Desert Hoop Earrings (winner’s choice of brass or nickel silver) to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, October 21st. *Open to US residents only.*
Please visit Knuckle Kiss Jewelry and tell us: When you need to feel like your best self, what style do you adopt?

This would be when I look in the mirror and I can take a deep breath because I look like me. I don’t look like I’m trying to be someone else, playing dress up or hiding behind layers of fabric or jewelry armor.

I find the easier it is for me to get ready, the better I feel. So a favourite pair of jeans, comfy tee, big cozy scarf, hair up in a knot and some bright earrings. Done and I feel like me 🙂

Feminine with a little edge, so I feel attractive and a bit of a bad-ass. That style makes me confident and look as if I could handle anything. Makeup and jewelry are a huge part of that style, not like armor or weapons or a mask, more like a natural extension in expressing who I am and what I am feeling.

Black.  I love the energy of it.  The seriousness.  When I need to bring my A-game, I wear black and use clean, modern lines.  It gives me a sense of being my own kind of super hero.  It helps me communicate the intensity that exists deep within me.

Comfortable and classic – usually my favorite pair of “dress” jeans and a long-sleeve button down shirt.

before this year, i would have said jeans and a nice blouse because that’s my comfort uniform, but lately as i’m slowly approaching graduation and entering the working world, it’s been really about putting on something sharp yet feminine and edgy.
for example, when i went for a recent gathering i decided to put on this pair of tailored high waisted cropped trousers in a bright orange colour instead of my usual jeans: it was a more masculine-inspired outfit yet the high waist and the colour still kept it slightly ladylike, and the colour was rather edgy by my standards. wearing those pants really made me feel more confident and “adult” compared to what i usually wear. and what surprised me is the sheer number of compliments i got that night about how great i looked, how put together i looked, how awesome the pants were etc. that helped me to stand taller and with more confidence too!

The little things–bright berry lipstick; well-fitting jeans (or dress pants if it’s a teaching day); heels that make confident clicking sounds, something sparkly; and simple clothes with clean lines.

Classic – good-fitting ankle jeans, a solid top, flats and pearl studs!

I go back to my Florida roots: Flip-flops, tank top, faded jeans or shorts. Comfortable,  casual, & functional.

When I need to feel my best self, I automatically gravitate to flowy, bright and comfortable. I have recently found the perfect outfit that makes me feel exactly like, well, me, a purple skirt that flares out beautifully when I twirl, a blue bamboo t-shirt with a pink lotus flower, a magenta jersey scarf with a navy blue scrolling floral and TARDIS design, and a pink and purple brimmed knit hat. It has really changed the way I look at and buy clothes, as they’re now all compared to how I felt in this one outfit – confident, beautiful, comfortable in my own skin.

    Momina says:

The style I adopt would probably be a ‘classy smart’ look. Something like a thigh length jacket, padded shoulders, slim cut, with a light under layer. The colour black. heeled ankle boots, to give like an empowering feel, to make me feel motivated and confident, dressing in a way to get respect. My best self is when I know I’ve been productive with my time, I feel confidence leads to motivation and motivation productivity. Minimal make-up because it’s not an occasion but a normal day to feel good, so I’d rather not feel like i’m caking so much on, making me feel insecure on a normal day.

I reach for something that’s feminine, soft fabrics, maybe a little sheer and flow-y. Something that accentuates my best features and draws the eye to my face.  I also like to choose colors that make me happy!  Lip gloss is a must;  nude or bright, depending on my mood.  Minimal jewelry- just enough to make a statement and not look/feel cluttered 🙂

    Charlotte D. says:

Simple, classy, and comfortable.  I like simple clothing and accessories.  I buy things that I can wear for years to come.  I like quality and like fabrics that are easy to wear.   I do like a pop of color.  I do that through my jewelry.  I like bold but classy earrings bracelet and rings.  I don’t over do it though.

    Ellen L. says:

I’ve got a few tricks to perk myself up in a pinch: a stellar pair of earrings, a vintage statement ring; and then concealer, bronzer, mascara, gloss and highlighter.  Polished and personal: that’s my style.

I feel like I was born in the wrong place in the wrong era… I feel my best when I am wearing anything that makes me feel Parisian and beatnik, which is likely to be black, along with my staple silver medallion necklace.

When I am my best self, I am clean, comfortable, and confident. The style that helps me do this is simple, sophisticated and not tight on my still-recovering-post-baby-body, but with some unique touches. Jeans, a flowy top, and some eye-catching jewelry. Bam.

    Andrea says:

A kickass red lipstick always helps!

    Susie says:

My go-to style for feeling my best self is: my favorite boots, my hair up with a wide headband, and one item of something I’ve made myself, usually a ring or skirt. Sharing my creativity can put me in a vulnerable spot, and mixing it with my tried-and-true (my boots and headbands) seems to balance it out. I feel confident, comfortable, and most of all, my authentic self in this style.
