Our theme this October is all about leaning into the fall and there is no better place to do that than on your daily commute. Think about it, we spend so much time driving (or walking or subway riding, etc) to and from our daily tasks. Often, this time is considered wasted. As in it could be better used doing other tasks. But what if we started changing our perception of the time we spend traveling each day? What if we took that time to feel more connected and think of each journey as a story waiting to be told?
Lauren Makai moved to Los Angeles and quickly found herself immersed in the daily traffic on her commute. Rather than spend her time frustrated, she decided to focus on the beauty around her and celebrate her time spent moving from one place to another. The Commuter Collection from L. Makai began as a way to honor this beauty. There are 54 Southern California highway pendants represent stories of people moving back and forth from jobs, lovers, errands, coffee dates, road trips. L. Makai also has a line of NYC specific pendants out so that our stories can travel to the east and back to the west.
