Giveaway :: Olive Yew!

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

They say that beauty’s only skin deep. (They being The Temptations; yeah, yeah, yeah.)  Sure, true beauty lies within, but I am a firm believer that what we decorate ourselves with says as much about our hearts as our words. We adorn ourselves daily as a way to feel like the absolute best version of ourselves. Our accessories speak our beauty to the world, whether we realize it or not. As we welcome in the month of May, let’s celebrate our new theme of Adorn with the type of beauty that is more than skin deep.

Angela Parker-Kennedy started creating her own jewelry after her grandmother advised her that since they were “a petite bunch” it would behoove her to stick with simple and small jewelry. Unable to find pieces she wanted to wear daily, Parker-Kennedy took matters into her own hands and Olive Yew was born. Her innovation is our good luck. These are the types of pieces that make you feel beautiful just by looking at them. Personally, I fell head over heels for the Little Gold Tangle Ball necklace and the Long Bar Rose Gold necklace when I first spotted Olive Yew and I would be lying if I said this crush was going away anytime soon. Olive Yew, indeed.

Olive Yew is giving away one Double Circle necklace and one Rose Gold Bow necklace to two (one necklace each) lucky readers! To enter to win, please answer the following question by Tuesday, May 8th. Comments now closed…good luck!

What is the one thing in your life that keeps getting better and better?

Start checking the winner’s box on Monday, May 14th, to see if you’ve won!

    My relationship with my sister. We are 8 years apart and she was only 9 when I left home for university. Now that we’re both in our 30s we have so much more in common, especially since we’re both still int he dating pool, much to my mom’s chagrin.

    Being a sister. It was kind of a pain was I was younger – I’m the oldest of 3 girls. Everywhere I went, I had one or both of my sisters tagging along behind me. But the older I get, the better friends we become and the closer we get. It’s been 33 years since I became a sister, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

    My cooking skills and cleanliness are definitely getting better… After living in an apartment away from home for the first time, I’ve definitely become way more responsible! Makes me realize how much my parents do for me when I’m at home and how ungrateful I’ve been all these years :\

    The ability to connect to anyone and everyone I come across in my life. I’ve been having more quality conversations with strangers in coffee shops. I think I’ve been gifted with connection…it’s really exciting when someone you thought was the quietest person in the world really opens up and shares something beautiful about their life with you.

    My marriage. Time keeps speeding past us and we are almost two years in and I am far more grateful today for him than I could have been when we were in the first year. It’s cheesy, but sticking together and getting through so many changes in our lives just makes it better. And stinky cheeses obviously get better with time.

    This is a hard question for me, because I feel like my life really couldn’t get any better right now. Sure there are some things I would maybe like to change but I am truly happy. I love my life, my husband, my fur babies and every sunny or rainy day. If there is anything that could get better and better, its just the idea of my life continuing on and me being able to sustain everything I love for as long as possible.

    I do not know what is getting better and better but I try to do my best every day in every act of my life: I try to smile more, be more selfconfident, be kinder, cook healty food, take care of my garden, play more with my cat, express my feelings as much as I can. I can’t notice big changes now, but I’m sure that my future will be brighter and brighter.

    my relationship with my older brother keeps getting better and better 🙂 i was looking at old photos the other day and we had photos of us hugging as cute little tykes, but i remember that we could get into terrible fights; i even broke his glasses once! now that we’re both in university – in the same year no less, since my brother had to serve his national service (I’m Singaporean, all males have to serve in the army for 2 years after they turn 18) – we’re back to being great pals. he brings me out for “dates” often where he treats me to dinner, and we can talk about anything under the sun! Love you bro <3
