Giveaway :: Ooh La La Lamour

{shop :: Facebook :: Twitter}

Dear friends, while we are still in the midst of gift preparation for the holiday, let’s take time to focus on the receiving again, shall we? I, for one, know that this time of year is always when I start to stray from the positive ways I take care of my body and mind and sleep less, eat more, work (and play) harder. What better time to pull back the reigns and remind ourselves to be kind to the most important person in our worlds: ourselves.
Candace Lamour created Ooh La La Lamour when she started making all natural and organic skincare for herself and loved ones. Realizing that so many products on the market are full of toxic, synthetic ingredients, Lamour found a way to spread love and health through her handmade goods. From body oil to bath soaks, Ooh La La Lamour has all of the skin care you need this season to treat your body and soul right. After all, ’tis the season to receive.

Ooh La La Lamour is giving away one 8 oz Ultimate Body Scrub and one 8 oz Yoga Botanical Body Oil Set to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, December 24th.
Please visit Ooh La La Lamour and tell us: What is one gift you are giving yourself this holiday season?
Start checking the winner’s box on Monday, December 30th, to see if you’ve won!

    This year has been hard financially so the gift I’ll be giving myself this year will be joy and love to everyone else this holiday season, which I’m still not done knitting. If I could realistically gift myself something, I could use a new set of non-stick frying pans because the ones I’m using are getting to that unusable point. Lesson learned, don’t buy cheap kitchen cookware, even if it’s a cheaper version of a major name brand company.

    Less guilt over how unfairly comfortable my life is, by abandoning consumerism and instead of spending tons of money on Christmas presents, donating my December paycheck to the Red Cross. It is the best gift I can give myself and when you think about the situation in Syria, or Sudan, or in countless refugee camps across our world, really the only gift worth giving.

    The timing of this question is perfect for me! ¬†Starting today, I’m giving myself the gift of not panicking and not needing to be an over-achiever. ¬†I’m a single mom and a graduate student and so holiday breaks are the only time I’m not unbelievably, unfathomably overworked. ¬†Yesterday, however, when my break started I felt completely paralyzed by what I “should” be doing over the break – getting academic things published, studying for my comprensive exams, writing that novel that is going to save me from all of this…etc. ¬† ¬† It was TERRIBLE! ¬†That’s what prompted me last night to pop in a movie after my daughter went to bed and decide that that’s good enough! ¬†It’s okay for me to relax. ¬†It’s okay! ¬†It’s all okay! ¬†(I suppose you could say I’m giving myself an internal monologue that counters the engrained one that I grew up with: Do better! ¬†Be the best! Work yourself to death!)

    I am fortunate to be able to spend the entire school vacation with my son this year, off from December 23 – January 1. My birthday is also December 24 and my gift to myself is time away from clocks and schedules. I will be unplugged at home with lots of space for cross-country skiing, walks in the woods, a cozy fire, time with family and friends, and lots of reading! This is the best time to rejuvenate myself after a very busy semester working at SUNY Oneonta as the events coordinator in the Student Union, an extremely busy place, but I love it!

    The gift I’m giving myself is sending holiday cards to Everyone. Sending out a hundred cards is a bit silly, but it’s a hundred people who will actually smile when they get the mail. That makes it worth it for me.¬†

    A Kindle giftcard so I can buy some really good mindless reading–love, adventure, a little suspense…guiltless, calorieless, and the only drama involved is fiction! ¬†It’s a treat for me to do this, but I really wanted a way to unwind and not think about the havetos and the shouldhaves. ¬†Plus it supports writers! ¬†I picked it today and I’m so glad I did. ¬†Funny how a $25 giftcard, not for someone else, was such a BIG purchase, and I have been vacillating for days about this, but I’m really glad to give this gift to myself.

    Every year I put together a Christmas mix cd for my friends and family, which pulls from my extensive collection of traditional and unusual holiday music. I usually hit the library and choose a few CDs to rip for it, but there are a few songs that I’m just dying to have and don’t want to wait for the CDs to be in circulation, so I’m treating myself to some Amazon MP3 albums and a few solo songs. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without the Muppets Christmas Carol soundtrack (one of my favorite movies) and know I will listen to it so much every December from now on and get the warm giddy feeling that lovely music brings.

    I am setting aside time for myself to READ FOR FUN. I have been working so hard this past few months on lesson planning and teaching, that I’ve had little time to read for enjoyment. Most of my reading has been for academic-related stuff. I plan to catch up on the large stack of books I have in room that I need to read. (I may buy a few more books too…that counts as a gift, right?)

    The gift of acceptance. A very powerful concept that can be both difficult to give AND receive.

    I’m giving myself the gift of health. I always get so overwhelmed at the start of the year when everyone floods the gym and often I back off and end up becoming lazy. This week I began the transition of being an AM gym-goer and I am going to see it through in 2014. It’s nice to get off work and know i’ve gotten my workout in, and can do another one if I like!

    I am going to FORGET about our problems – months of unemployment, dwindling bank accounts, insecurity, frustration, and worry – for an entire 5 day span. I’m going to enjoy myself with family and friends and put aside the worry that tends to eat me whole. I’ll try to fill the worry with hope for the new year.¬†
