This month’s theme of “Let Love Rule” could not have come at a better time. Life is always full of challenges, to be sure, but this month feels particularly, ahem, trying. Surely I’m not the only one in this boat. Show of hands? The BSP is a blessing in so many ways because it pulls focus away from the challenges and into the bright and the beautiful. The artists we feature inspire a sense of purpose, a sense of drive, in my life and I am so appreciative for the opportunity to share them with the rest of you.

Padgett Hoke designs and creates a line of simple, stunning jewelry that evokes inspiration from the get go. Hoke’s line started as a way to finance her desire to create jewelry for herself and has blossomed into a joy-driven creative outlet. Along with her own shop, Padgett Hoke is a featured maker on BRIKA and her love for the outdoors translates into a wealth of perfectly curated pieces to choose from. I am swooning over this Twig Necklace and am thinking I might need the Geometric Gold Square Posts to round it out. Padgett Hoke is definitely letting the love back into my month.

Padgett Hoke is giving away two Antler Necklaces to two lucky winners (one each!) To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Tuesday, August 27th. Comments now closed…good luck!
Please visit Padgett Hoke and tell us: What is your favorite way to spend a day off? (No school, no work, no obligations.)

Well, you really can’t go wrong with a book on the beach – those days are always so perfect. But a day spent wandering around Boston, stopping to window shop and have lunch, is great, too. Or, what could be more relaxing than a pedi, facial and massage all on the same day? That would be a really good day, too.

Hi! What an amazing necklace! I love deers! I enjoy picnics on the beach: sunshine, some bread, some cheese, some wine, some chocolate, some fruit, and, of course, good company. Please, count me in if it’s open internationally. Thank you!

I like to stay in my pajamas the entire day and watch an obscene abount of Downton Abby or read an entire book in one sitting! Truly letting my introvert side come out, but I love spending an entire day where I don’t have to talk to anyone! In reality, days like this happen maybe once or twice a year.

I actually had a pretty perfect day this past Saturday! Went up to my parents’ cottage and had a long kayak ride on the lake with my boyfriend and my Mom, exploring all the nooks and crannies that a larger boat would never be able to reach. It was great to branch off from each other now and then to enjoy some solitude. Then I spent time on the dock, reading and sipping on a margarita. Okay, margaritas. Also devoured a few amazing peaches – it’s peach season here right now. Went for a stroll in the forest and took some photos. Napped, then had a decadent BBQ dinner with my family before enjoying a DVD and dessert (peanut butter and chocolate ice cream). Dreamy day…

maybe not the most original day, but a little bit of a sleep in, coffee and pastry (as provided by someone else), non-rushed showering, followed by stretching out to read…for…the…whole…day! then someone else can make dinner and i can lounge around reading some more. a girl can dream, can’t she?

Sleep in. Get a good cup of coffee and really savor the taste. Walk around town like a tourist. Grab some yummy food that I like and eat it while it is still warm. Go home and watch TV without interruptions with some yummy snacks. That would be heavenly! It is a little hard having a day for myself with three small children but at the same time I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

My perfect off day would be getting up early, making a quick smoothie and spending the quiet of the morning working my tail off on some DIY project, while the birds and my heart sing along together.  Recently I’ve learned to upholster furniture and I adore it.  Then I would have a beautiful lunch on the deck of my house.  And get back to work.  Probably re-doing the bathroom.  Perfect.

During the summer, at the pool. I go to my parent’s old pool which is right on the water of the Chesapeake Bay. If my husband is off too, we hang out and go get fresh guacamole from our favorite Mexican place.

School just resumed, and as a teacher, days off are few. I think my favorite way to spend my day off is spending the morning reading on the couch, then heading out somewhere local for lunch. I’d spend the afternoon probably shopping (Target, HomeGoods, stores I love to browse in). Dinner would be either be an easy salad or yummy chicken with vegetables.

A day off? What a lovely treat. I would vouch for a good long run in the morning, patio lounging with a book, perhaps a treat of frozen yogurt while meandering a farmers or flea market. Things to enjoy the outdoors that I rarely get to experience from my desk.

I love to go get brunch, exercise, and then read to my heart’s content. Then, visit a farmer’s market and get some awesome fruit and veg for the week, and then go back to reading. I have two little boys so quiet time to read and write is scarce.

I love to create something, anything. It’s best if I start projects on free days because once I get going, I tend to lose track of time. Then, when my fingers hurt from sewing or I’m waiting for paint or glue to dry, I like to read.

  32. 32
    Jenni says:

sleep in and take a nice long stretch as I wake up and roll around in the sheets. Brew one cup of coffee and savor the smell and flavor as I sip while reading a few chapters of my favorite book. Slowly shower and dress while listening to music. Go out for lunch with my friends followed by a little bit of browsing. Maybe spend an hour or so soaking up the sun and relaxing away the afternoon. Cook a delicious meal and savor it in my favorite comfy clothes. Enjoy the nighttime air with a delicious glass of pumpkin ale and then drift off to sleep watching a favorite show or movie.

I’m usually at work at 6:30am, so when I’m off I like to get out and enjoy the peace and quiet a morning has to offer. I miss it being stuck in an office so early in the morning. I start out my no fuss day off with a morning walk, followed by a morning coffee and treat. Maybe even bring along a book to read while enjoying my coffee. Then it’s off to the nearby antique mall where I can do some treasure hunting. I usually leave with an old book or an old key to add to my collections.
