{shop :: Facebook}

One of the keys to happiness lies in doing what you love. Pure and simple. The tricky part is turning that passion and love into a sustainable way to make a living. Oh, friends, if only it were easy, right? That is why we here at the BSP are always inspired to find artists and creators who live the dream. They figure out a way to make their passion their livelihood and they create a contagious environment where we all want to follow suit.

Deborah Wong of Percolating Design combined her love of jewelry making with her passion for knitting to create gorgeous, one of a kind pieces that look and feel amazing. I am absolutely enamored with every piece and find myself returning over and over to the Emerald Purl Pendant as if it has some sort of hold over me. When there is this amount of love poured into anything, you can see it. And, lucky for you, you can wear it as well.

Percolating Design is giving away one $40 gift certificate to one lucky winner! To enter to win, please answer the following question no later than Thursday, October 3rd. Comments now closed…good luck!
Please visit Percolating Design and tell us: What is your passion? How does it relate to what you do for a living?
Start checking the winner’s box on Monday, October 7th, to see if you’ve won.

    My passion is creating beautiful and effective design for people and businesses. Up until 5 months ago, it only would have related to what I did for a living in that I worked on advertisements and other print collateral for my boss, in addition to being an admin (which I kind of loathed). But by my husband and I got brave and encouraged each other to follow our dreams, so I quit my job to become a freelance graphic designer, and he quit his job to pursue a masters in social work. It’s a scary time for both of us, but now we’re spending our days in ways that mean a lot to us and feel much more fulfilled!

    I do freelance editing for work because I can do it from home where I am mother to two wild men-children. They are my passion, so I do what I can from home so I can be with them. My other passions include teaching literature (which I will get back to in another season of my life!) and knitting! I just learned this last year and I’m obsessed! Every night when the kids go down, I hunker down and knit the night away. I love the soft and rhythmic feel of the yarn moving through my fingers. It orders my mind and allows a creative canvas of knots.

    My passion is for feeling free and happy. I love my job and I enjoy that I work in a creative field, but I find nothing better than stepping out the door and wandering the city on my lunch break, hitting the streets with my pups for nightly walks around the neighborhood and meeting with friends to enjoy treats al fresca on the patio! I love being outside, feeling the wind and I try and find any opportunity I can to fit it into my life… and of course, I always try to make it cell-phone free. Who needs distractions!?

    My passion is making things beautiful and organized.  I am a housewife, and I love it, which definitely lets me make the house, the yard, etc beautiful and well-arranged.  I just wish I could get paid for all the work I do!!!

    My passion has always been helping people and treating them the way I want to be treated. Before being a stay-at-home-mom, I was a law enforcement officer. I think I always did a good job of treating people right and how I’d want to be treated or how I’d want my friends/family to be treated if they were arrested, in a violent situation, etc.

    My passion is being creative, and this relates to what I do for a living because I’m an art teacher. I not only know about art (drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, collage), but I also need to create lessons, activities, worksheets, and create strategies to help my students learn more effectively.

    I still enjoy making art, but a teacher needs to be a creative thinker too.

    My passion and my work are still getting worked out.  Right now I’m a doctoral student , composition instructor, and a single mom.  I happen to study motherhood and children’s literature.  My  passion has always been about helping people, making beautiful things, and creating community.  I still have a long road ahead of me to realize those passions, but I have high hopes.  I know that the work I’m doing now makes me better able to see and know myself, and makes me better at fitting with other people.  My passions change – and thank God they do! – as I grow and change.  The core of them remains the vision I’ve had since I was seven.  I’m in a beautiful home with many people, I’m teaching and writing.  There is warmth.  There is beauty and I’m sharing in it.

    My passion is to take care of people and I do work in the healthcare field. I love my job in the hospital but I love my job at home the best which is taking care of my children. There is nothing more fulfilling that being a mom (for me at least).

    Heather’s response made me giggle 🙂 I’m passionate about anything themed. For example décor that pays special attention to detail, theme parks that take you to another time and place, parties that make you feel like a child again and maybe a bedroom that makes you feel like you are on vacation. I work in Finance…where there isn’t much room for a good theme. So maybe that is why I love to escape in my play time, because my work world can be full of rules and sometimes is a little dull. But I’m OK with that. There is time for work, and there is time for play.

    to be of service, to fulfill this passion each day is completely different than the last. i only realized recently that if i am not helping or aiding someone/something there is an emptiness that consumes me. it does not have to be the biggest gesture but just small things throughout the day brings me such joy. : )

    My passion is learning. I’m currently in law school and I have two master’s degrees. I love the person I become when I learn something new and expand my mind with a new perspective. As to how my passion for learning relates to my job, I make it a point to change jobs, positions or companies every few years. I need to be learning something new everyday.

    My passion is being challenged and I notice that I thrive at work when things are crazy busy. When work isn’t crazy busy, I tend to make my personal life like that to still feel the satisfaction of getting it all done!
